A Study on Internship Programs of Art Museums in Taiwan: A Case of Museum of Contemporary Art, Taipei

Chong, Chin-yin 01 September 2011 (has links)
Internship experiences in art museums can help students to compare the theories they have learned in school and the tasks in the real working place. Since the researcher is the supervisor of the interns in Museum of Contemporary Art, Taipei (MOCA), an appropriate internship program should be developed. Therefore, the purposes of this these are to discuss the art museums, interns and school¡¦s attitude toward internship program; to examine the internship program in MOCA; and to provide suggestions to improve internship programs. To achieve these goals, the research conducts a thorough literature review, case interviews and participant observation. MOCA and the other three public art museums are taken as examples to analyze and compare their internship programs. The opinions of MOCA¡¦s interns and the schools¡¦ teachers which cooperated with MOCA are collected. The results show that an internship program has several functions such as education, professional training, museum promotion, and interns can be part of the human resources in art museums. Though art museums provide internship programs to students and schools, they should also plan the programs according to their own characteristics and make the programs flexible to accommodate different situations. As for MOCA, it should strengthen the management of internship, let interns know their assignments and tasks precisely, and keep well communication with students. The thesis raises the following suggestions on internship: 1. Art museums should prepare internship programs to benefit both interns and museums, such as increase intern¡¦s training courses and find out specialties of interns. Furthermore, an internship database should be established in each museum as reference. 2. Interns should learn more about the museums in advance. They should have a positive attitude to learn, and evaluate their tasks and goals frequently during the internship. 3. School and museum should consider themselves as partners to arrange the internship placement properly.

Gestão de museus de arte: coleção e mediação

Farinha, Ana Maria Antunes 08 April 2013 (has links)
Como estratégias metodológicas, adotam-se na pesquisa, suportes interdisciplinares, envolvendo História, História da Arte, Museologia, Estética e outras áreas do conhecimento / The purpose of this research aims to investigate the mechanisms of management of art museums and the procedures that are adopted so that these cultural institutions could shelter and broaden their art collections, serving the conservation and art mediation. Arte contemporânea, museu e arquivo: desafios da ciência da informação / Contemporary art, museum and archive: challenges of information science

Rodrigues, Bruno César 31 August 2017 (has links)
This research treat about museums and we reflect on some museological processes, but based on Information Science and Documentation. Therefore, we analyze from our point of view the existing implications between the concepts of document and information, which are often distinct or even contradictory, and the contemporary art, that is ephemeral or dematerializes. There is a bond loss of the contemporary work of art with the traditional support that causes direct effects in its classification, which affects the custody systems of the institutions. It has become usual for some of the works to be perishable and even have a demarcated life cycle. Others remain \"alive\" in institutions that have preserved them, either because they have a traditional format of painting or sculpture, because their formats are similar to them, because they are objects which are possible to be stored and later re-presented, or because they persist through documentation. Thus, we try to understand how museums do to guard, organize, and preserve the memory of ephemeral works of art. We realized that they end up not fitting very well in the traditional definition and that they move towards other situations and other typologies, because there is an artistic production focused on the archives and not on the museum. Just as ephemeral works of art and their documentary condition affect artistic debates, they also incite museums and archives to rethink their modus operandis. We conclude that, in order to solve the problems addressed in this research, it is necessary to focus on a solution that comes from the junction of the superimposed knowledge of Museology and Archivology, and this is the proposal of CI.

Dubreuil, Martine 03 1900 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to document and examine 20 years of collecting at the Museum of Contemporary art of Montreal between 1992 and 2012, a period during which the collection went from 3300 works of art to more than 7700. We investigate the development of the collection and its representation via exhibitions organized by the Museum. We seek to report what the acquisitions tell us about the institution, the orientation it is giving its collection and the message it seeks to transmit. Our research based on analysis of facts collected in public documentation examines the composition and functioning of the various decision committees responsible for acquisitions, and the financing of the institution. It details acquisitions made via purchase and gift, looks at the style and date of the works selected. It documents the arguments (justifications) brought forward in order to acquire the work and add it to the collection. It observes the image the Museum wants to convey of its collection through its exhibitions. Our study draws a factual portrait of collection during the mandates of the 3 directors in charge of the Museum over a 20 year period and the idea of the collection they tried to communicate via exhibitions.

As doações Nelson Rockefeller no acervo do Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Universidade de São Paulo / The Nelson Rockefeller donations from the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of São Paulo.

Toledo, Carolina Rossetti de 17 August 2015 (has links)
This research analyzes the role of the Nelson Rockefeller donations (1946 and 1950) in the formation of the first collection of the Museum of Modern Art Sao Paulo. This study demonstrates how the donations were part of a broader strategy to bring United States and Brazil closer together through artistic initiatives during the Post-war period. This research gives a brief overview of the role of Nelson Rockefeller as articulator of the American cultural policy and details the involvement do MoMA employees (René dHarnoncourt) and curators (Alfred Barr, Dorothy Miller and William Lieberman) in the donations. The main purpose of this work is to shed to light over a unique collection, currently part of Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of Sao Paulo that has remained ignored by specialists and unknown by the public.
