Křesťanský metal / Christian Metal Music

Boháč, Filip January 2016 (has links)
In this diploma thesis I am going to analyze Christian metal music with emphasis on its missional character. My starting point is at a hypothetical use of metal as a tool for Christian mission. I assume that new Christian communities will be able to use metal as a cultural tool for creating the inner character of the community. This requires a short introduction to the development of both Christian and secular metal music. To describe Christian mission in this subculture I am going to use the method of praxis matrix, through which I'm going to try to offer more detailed information about the subject in question concerning the topic of the identification of the agent. I'm also going to try to describe the social context, the church affiliation, interpretation of the tradition, concretization of the activity and the ability of self- reflection and spirituality.

Sjunkande kunskaper i musikteori? – om en möjlig orsak : En undersökning om förekomsten av musikteoriundervisning bland Sveriges musik- och kulturskolor / Declining Knowledge in Music Theory? : A study of the prevalence of music theory instruction among Swedish music and culture schools

Forsén, Lotta January 2011 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine if there is a connection between the diminishing knowledge of music theory of applicants to colleges of music, and the offering of music theory in the Swedish music and culture schools. In order to reach this goal, I conducted a survey of the prevalence of music theory among the Swedish music and culture schools, and how this is organized. I have used a questionnaire in which the principal or the teacher of music theory has responded to, and I have examined the entrance examinations (C-test) in basic theoretical knowledge and harmony from different years at The Music Academy of Ingesund. Survey responses indicate that a third of those who answered, offer music theory as its own subject. These schools can be found in both large and small municipalities, with a varied number of students. Music theory does not seem to have decreased significantly over the past nine years. Among the schools that do not offer music theory, the main reason given for this is a poor economy. But among schools who offered music theory but were forced to discontinue, the main reason given were the students' lack of interest. I have also investigated the structure of the lesson, certified teachers, integration of music theory in instrumental lessons and the marketing of the subject. In the section where I discuss the results, an explanation may be found as to why there appears to be a declining knowledge of music theory. The responses indicate that while music theory is still generally offered as before, there is a reduction in demand, which may cause the knowledge level to decrease.

Využití židovské hudby v hodinách hudební výchovy / The Use of Jewish Songs in Music Classes

Filipová, Eva January 2018 (has links)
Czech school's curriculum often omits Jewish music. Based on the proposal of concrete music classes, this thesis aims at evolving and enriching this topic. The thesis is divided into two parts. Theoretical part (chapters one and two) begins with description of Jewish culture, history, religion, habits and holidays, including Jewish languages and specifics between Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews, and follows with description of Jewish music, comprising particular modes and religious and secular music. The objective of this part is to present necessary broader information about Jewish culture for proposed concrete classes. Practical part (third chapter) proposes five thematically divided music classes based on three-phase model. Each music class includes staves extracts and texts; sheet music is annexed. The objective of music classes, which are based on music activities and methods of critical thinking and emphasise creativity of students and cooperation among them, is to build key competences and evolve multicultural behaviour. Nonetheless, this thesis is not a dogmatic proposal of plan of music classes, but primary serves as a source of inspiration for use and further development of concrete musical activities at school. KEY WORDS Jewish culture, Jewish music, music education, three-phase model,...

Jelínek, Jakub January 2013 (has links)
The main objective of this thesis is to map and interpret the financial impacts of the economic crisis on a selected group of classical music cultural events by describing the influence of the possible decline in financial resources on their output and efficiency. The first part of the thesis presents the theoretical basis of culture financing and cultural policy in the Czech Republic and sums up the fundamental economic theories of the behaviour of economy during economic crisis, thus providing a starting point for further interpretation of the performance of these organizations. The second part of this thesis comprises qualitative research of possible variables on a representative sample of classical music festivals. The research is carried out through a content analysis of their annual reports and a secondary analysis of other data provided by relevant institutions. The final section of the thesis attempts to evaluate the impact of the economic crisis on the cultural sector, to confirm or disprove the initial premises and to evaluate generally the financial stability of the Czech classical music festivals.

To interpret how to weave the threads of popular music during the life of a performer, the theoretical and methodological bases of ethnomusicology (BLACKING, 1995 MUKUNA, 2008, MERRIAM, 1980) dialogue with the bases of the interpretive anthropology (GEERTZ, 2008), history of life (CHIZZOTTI, 2006), the sociological "structuralist constructivism" (BOURDIEU, 1996), philosophy (BAKHTIN, 2006), and visual anthropology (HARTMANN, 2001). The work seeks to understand the history of life, not just as an individual artistic saga, but as a reflection of the trends of urban social movements in local and global level.

Recepce sovětské operety v Československu na případu Dunajevského Bílého akátu / Reception of Soviet operetta in Czechoslovakia on the example of Dunayevsky's White Acacia

Frank, Vojtěch January 2020 (has links)
The thesis focuses on the staging of Soviet operettas in Czechoslovakia between 1946 and 1987. The import of the Soviet repertoire to Czechoslovak operetta theaters was linked to the cultural and political transformations at the outset of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia. The so-called Soviet socialist operetta would soon have been established as a model for new Czechoslovak operettas. As such, it became an important part of the repertoire which was influenced by the official polical system. The thesis surveys the progressing intensity of the import and the developing operetta genre in the Soviet Union. On the examples of Isaac Dunayevsky's operettas Free Wind and, more intensively, White Acacia, in comparison with the original versions of these operettas, it shows the tendencies of interpretation of Soviet operettas in Czechoslovakia, in the changing cultural and political context. The thesis also concerns the topic of critical perception in both cultural environments and, overall, it aspires to capture the examined topics in the widest possible contextual horizon.

Počátky pražské klubové scény / The beginnings of clubbing in Prague

Kazdová, Darina January 2011 (has links)
This piece of work was meant to be countinuous to my bachelor's thesis. In that essay I was dealing with the history of Czech electronic dance music in general. This time I focused just on Prague and surrounding area. The Czech capital was deeply influenced by presence of tourists. After the Velvet revolution, they were suddenly able to visit Prague. And as they they were already familiar with electronic music, they could help to spread it here. The situation in Prague is also compared with the rest of the world (western civilization). In the first part of the essay, I describe the qualitative research and the method I have used, which is the oral history. I also enclose a brief vocabulary of frequently used terms that are not very well known to the greater audience, I suppose. The last part is the analysis of the interviews itself. The interviews were done with important narrators.
