Finns det direkta kopplingar? : En kvalitativ studie om mål och dess påverkan på inkubationsprocessen hos svenska inkubatorer / Are there any direct relationships? : A qualitative study about goals and their influenceon the incubation process of Swedish business incubators

Abukaf, Ward, Gustafsson, Johan January 2021 (has links)
Background: Business incubators are organizations with a purpose to help new ventures grow and survive their early years. There are descriptions of the general incubation process, but clear motivations of their process design are sorely missing. Some researchers suggest links between the goals of organizations and their process design, but a clear connection seems to be missing. By connecting goals and processes, this study aims to illustrate how processes are formed within business incubators as well as other types of organizations. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to describe how the goals of Swedish non-profit incubators influence the design of business incubators’ incubation processes. Methodology: The study is based on a constructionist perspective with an abductive approach, which in turn has led to an iterative study process. It is based on a qualitative research design and investigates 11 respondents through a small-N-study. Respondents were chosen based on a mostly goal-driven selection process, and empirical data has been collected through semi-structured interviews with each respondent. A thematic analysis was conducted on this data to answer the research questions posed. Conclusion: The study draws clear connections between goals of Swedish non-profit business incubators and their incubation processes. These connections can be made from both organizational goals and specific goals within the organizations. Incubators' selection processes are largely affected by the different goals of the organization. This is also true for networking and guidance activities within the incubator. In addition, the study has shown that specific goals within the incubators are largely influenced by their organizational goals.

Insights about Business Intelligence and Decision-Making : A case study at Systembolaget

Sjöberg, Viktor, Hugner, Elisabeth January 2020 (has links)
In today’s constantly evolving technological environment, businesses have more tools to support decision-making and these can be categorized as Decision Support Systems (DSS). One of the tools is Business Intelligence (BI), which is regarded as a high-priority investment in organizations nowadays. Even though there exists a vast amount of research in the DSS area, most of the influential work is conducted in time incomparable to today’s technological environment. In addition, most of the research focuses on profit-seeking organizations, as BI has been regarded as a tool to increase profits. However, non-profit organizations also use BI, but are not portrayed in the BI research area. The aim with this study is to explore how BI is used in relation to decision-making in a non-profit organization and to investigate the crucial factors in the usage of BI in relation to decision-making. A qualitative case study approach is applied where the Swedish non-profit organization Systembolaget AB is the case company. The main findings indicate that interaction between the two decision-making types is needed when using BI in a non-profit context. Moreover, having data literacy, data reliability, and data accessibility is found crucial in order to achieve BI success in relation to decision-making, especially when more and more decisions are made at the operational level. Finally, the results of this study amplify the need for an update in the DSS framework.

Onval, Victoria January 2020 (has links)
The purpose of this study has been to investigate how two female volunteers from two different NGOs help and support vulnerable women, who have been exposed to incest. This includes how these abused women and the picture of perpetrators are perceived and described by the volunteers. The study has also examined the collaboration with social services. The study results show that the volunteers within the two NGOs lack cooperation with social services, and that the work with support-seeking women can be perceived as both positive and negative. Positive experience is described by being a volunteer as part of an important change. Negative experience describes the volunteer as painful as it involves listening to, and taking part of these women's self-experienced stories, about their own experiences of incest. The work as a volunteer with support-seeking women, has been shown to offer support in various forms of support groups. The volunteer's task is to listen in these support groups and to confirm what the women seeking assistance are saying. The result has also shown that the women seeking support, are perceived as very afraid and degraded at the beginning of the meeting with the volunteers, but that they at the same time bear strength within themselves. The result also shows a lack of cooperation between the NGOs and social services. This is even though both activities work for the same clientele, which is the women seeking support.

Certified fishing as the solution to complex problems : A qualitative study about how the MSC constructs their sustainability communication.

Petersson, Fanny, Eriksson, Lina January 2023 (has links)
This is a qualitative study with the purpose of contributing knowledge about how non-profit organizations construct sustainability communication. This has been done through analyzing how MSC construct their sustainability communication in relation to the following dimensions of sustainability: economic-, social-, and environmental sustainability. By doing a directed qualitative content analysis of MSC's external communication from their website and Instagram profile. The theoretical framework that has been applied to the analysis is the three sustainability dimensions, which also forms the themes of the analysis. The analysis was done using a coding scheme where categories, subcategories, and codes were identified in the material. The result of the analysis showed that the MSC portrays their communication through the three dimensions of sustainability in several ways. Additionally, their work is related to the theoretical framework of the study. However, there is room for further discussion on whether the MSC would benefit to use a more serious tone or not. Furthermore, the result shows that the MSC describes several problems that relates to the fishing industry. Although, their communication would be perceived as more believable if a more nuanced image of solutions were presented. Lastly, the result is discussed in relation to previous research followed by the conclusion, a reflection, and suggestions for future research.
