Arias Lopez, Igor Francisco 26 June 2013 (has links)
Une antenne réaliste sert enfin de cas test pour la mise en œuvre de la décomposition à partir de données expérimentales discrètes / In some contexts, conventional methods used for large problems involving radiated or diffracted field computations in the presence of obstacles, such as Physical Optics and ray based methods, become really inaccurate or prohibitively time-consuming. Gabor frame theory provides a rigorous framework for the initial decomposition of equivalent source distributions into a redundant set of Gaussian windows. Frame decomposition has been introduced as a first discretization step into Gaussian Beam Shooting (GBS) algorithms. Until now, frame decomposition has essentially been restricted to planar source distributions, radiating into one half space. The main goal of this thesis is to extend the application range of this theory to radiated or diffracted field decomposition into Gaussian beams propagating into the whole space. The thesis begins with a thorough study of influence of the parameters used for frame coefficient calculation. Numerical implementation is used to test the efficiency of truncation and compression techniques in terms of accuracy / computation time balance optimization. The core of the thesis consists of an original spectral domain partitioning method involving partition of unity functions, which allows to use Gaussian beam shooting from frames defined in six planes, for radiation into the whole three-dimensional space. The formulation of the method is presented and applied to the decomposition of fields radiated by theoretical omnidirectional antennas (dipole array and half-wave dipole) into Gaussian beams. A realistic antenna is used as a test case for the implementation of decompositions based on experimental discrete initial data

Développement d'une méthodologie pour l'évaluation de l'exposition réelle des personnes aux champs électromagnétiques / Development of a methodology for the assessment of the real-life exposure due to electromagnetic fields

Rojatkar, Ashish 30 March 2016 (has links)
The work presented in the thesis is directed towards addressing the requirement for determining the radio frequency (RF) exposure due to mobile phones under typical usage/ real-life scenarios and also to develop a method to predict and compare mobile phones for their real-life RF exposure. The mobile phones are characterized for their specific absorption rate (SAR) and for transmit and receive performance given by the over-the-air (OTA) characterization. Using the SAR and the total radiated power (TRP) characterization, an exposure index referred to as the SAROTA index was previously proposed to predict the real-life exposure due to mobile phones which would also serve as a metric to compare individual phones. In order to experimentally determine the real-life RF exposure, various software modified phones (SMP) are utilized for the study. These phones contain an embedded software capable of recording the network parameters. The study is undertaken in the following order: (a) Characterization of the available tools and resources for performing targeted measurements/experiments, (b) identifying the important radio resource parameters and metrics to perform the targeted measurements, (c) investigation of the actual implementation of the power control mechanism in a live network for various received signal level and received quality environments, (d) investigating the correlation of the over-the-air performance of the mobile phones and the extent of actual power control realization, (e) comparing the actual exposure and the real-life exposure as predicted by the SAROTA index. Based on the logistical and technical challenges encountered, the experiments were restricted to indoor environments to enable repeatability. During the first phase of the study, the stability of the indoor environment was evaluated. During the second phase, the influence of hand phantom on the SAR and TRP of the mobile phones and the capability of the SAROTA index to predict the exposure was investigated. Further developing on the insights from the hand phantom experiments, in the third phase, a set of identical software modified phones were externally modified to alter the TRP performance and the methodology to determine the real-life exposure and also verify the capability of the SAROTA index to predict the exposure levels was investigated. The experiments demonstrate that the SAROTA index is capable of predicting the real-life exposure and comparing the mobile phones.

Computation of Specific Absorption Rate in the Human Body due to Base-Station Antennas using a Hybrid Formulation

Abd-Alhameed, Raed, Excell, Peter S., Mangoud, Mohab A. January 2005 (has links)
A procedure for computational dosimetry to verify safety standards compliance of mobile communications base stations is presented. Compared with the traditional power density method, a procedure based on more rigorous physics was devised, requiring computation or measurement of the specific absorption rate (SAR) within the biological tissue of a person at an arbitrary distance. This uses a hybrid methd of moments/finite difference time domain (MoM/FDTD) numerical method in order to determine the field or SAR distribution in complex penetrable media, without the computational penalties that would result from a wholly FDTD simulation. It is shown that the transmitted power allowed by the more precise SAR method is, in many cases, between two and five times greater than that allowed by standards implementing the power flux density method.

Evaluating Compromising Emanations in Touchscreens / Utvärdering av röjande signaler från touchskärmar

Lidstedt, Joakim January 2019 (has links)
In a short time touchscreens has become one of the most used methods for input to smartphones and other machines such as cash registers, card terminals and ATMs. While the technology change was quick it introduces the possibility of new security holes. Compromising emanations is a possible security hole in almost all electronic equipment. These emanations can be used in a side-channel attack if they leak information that compromise the security of the device. This thesis studies a single-board computer (SBC) with a touchscreen and a smartphone in order to evaluate if any usable information leaks regarding what is done on the touchscreen i.e. where on the screen a user touches. It is shown that the location of a touch can be read out from information leaking through the power cable and wirelessly from the single-board computer. It is also shown that basic information can be read out wirelessly from the smartphone but further testing is required to evaluate the possibility to extract usable information from the device.

Characterization of Flow Induced Noise Received by an Array Placed at Stagnation Point of an Underwater Axisymmetric Body

Krishna Kumar, G V January 2017 (has links) (PDF)
Given the interest on underwater axisymmetric cylindrical bodies for the development of high-speed underwater weapons, characterization of the boundary layer flow-induced noise received by a Sound NAvigation and Ranging (SONAR) is very important to improve sonar detection ranges. The debate on generating mechanisms of the flow induced noise received at the stagnation point is still on as there is no experimental evidence conclusively suggesting whether it is a near-field or far-field phenomenon, thereby introducing an element of uncertainty in the prediction models. Further, the models developed thus far were based on low Reynolds numbers involving flows in water tunnels and buoyant vehicles. Therefore, the main focus of the thesis is to measure the flow induced noise using a sonar fitted at the most forward stagnation point of an underwater axisymmetric body as realistically as possible and predict the same theoretically for identifying a suitable flow noise model for future use by designers. In order to meet the stated goal, two exclusive experiments were conducted at sea using an underwater autonomous high-speed axisymmetric vehicle fitted with a planar hydrophone array (8X8) in its nose cone which measured the flow noise signature. Two different sets of existing models are used in characterizing the flow noise received by the array, while the first set comprises of models developed based on the Turbulent Boundary Layer induced noise and other is based on the transition zone radiated noise model. Through this study, it was found that the transition zone radiated noise model is in close agreement with the measured data.

Šeděnka, Vladimír January 2013 (has links)
Práce popisuje řešení pohlcujících okrajových podmínek, modelování disperzních a anizotropních materiálů a aproximaci tenkých drátů.

Active Control of the Human Voice from a Sphere

Anderson, Monty J 01 May 2015 (has links) (PDF)
This work investigates the application of active noise control (ANC) to speech. ANC has had success reducing tonal noise. In this work, that success was extended to noise that is not completely tonal but has some tonal elements such as speech. Limitations such as causality were established on the active control of human speech. An optimal configuration for control actuators was developed for a sphere using a genetic algorithm. The optimal error sensor location was found from exploring the nulls associated with the magnitude of the radiated pressure with reference to the primary pressure field. Both numerically predicted and experimentally validated results for the attenuation of single frequency tones were shown. The differences between the numerically predicted results for attenuation with a sphere present in the pressure field and monopoles in the free-field are also discussed. The attenuation from ANC of both monotone and natural speech is shown and a discussion about the effect of causality on the results is given. The sentence “Joe took father’s shoe bench out” was used for both monotone and natural speech. Over this entire monotone speech sentence, the average attenuation was 8.6 dB with a peak attenuation of 10.6 dB for the syllable “Joe”. Natural speech attenuation was 1.1 dB for the sentence average with a peak attenuation on the syllable “bench” of 2.4 dB. In addition to the lower attenuation values for natural speech, the pressure level for the word “took” was increased by 2.3 dB. Also, the harmonic at 420 Hz in the word “father’s” of monotone speech was reduced globally up to 20 dB. Based on the results of the attenuation of monotone and natural speech, it was concluded that a reasonable amount of attenuation could be achieved on natural speech if its correlation could approach that of monotone speech.

Caractérisation et modélisation électromagnétique de multimatériaux composites : application aux structures automobiles / Electromagnetic characterization and modeling of composite multi-materials : application to automotive structures

Kader, Ammar 10 April 2015 (has links)
The main concern of this thesis is the characterization of the impacts of some composite materials on the main electromagnetic compatibility issues in a vehicle. The surface models of the dielectric materials are validated by confronting their simulated and measured permittivity. The surface model of the studied conductive material is validated by confronting it to a wire model and by measuring and simulating the S parameters on a structure constituted by such a material. It appears in both cases of dielectric and conductive composite materials that the surface impedance modeling technique gives a good description of the materials. The analysis of the effects of these materials on the EMC issues within a vehicle is done by use of a demonstrator representing the car body. The different equipment and harnesses embedded in a vehicle are represented in the demonstrator by some wires and monopoles. The evaluation of the impact of the composite materials on the EMC issues is done by measuring and simulating the different couplings within the demonstrator and between the demonstrator and a test antenna. The analysis of the different couplings confirms that the surface impedance material modeling approach describes well the materials under test. Concerning the impact of the composite materials on the EMC issues at a vehicle level, this analysis fulfills two main results. The first one concerns the dielectric materials. Indeed the use of these materials increases the different coupling by a value varying between at least 5 dB to 30 dB. The second conclusion concerns the use of conductive composite materials. It appears that they have no effect on the different couplings in comparison to the full steel structure.
