ESTRESSE EM DISCENTES DE ENFERMAGEM DE QUATRO INSTITUIÇÕES BRASILEIRAS / STRESS IN NURSING STUDENTS FROM FOUR BRAZILIAN INSTITUTIONS

Bublitz, Susan 21 March 2014 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This study aimed to verify the level of stress in nursing students from four Brazilian institutions. It is a cross-sectional and descriptive study with quantitative approach developed with 705 nursing undergraduate students from four Brazilian Education Institutions being three of them from the southeast region and one from the southern. The data were collected between April 2011 and March 2012 according to the chronogram of each institution, after signing of the free and informed consent term through a research protocol that included: Sociodemographic and Form of Academic and Learners Instrument Rating Stress in Nursing Students (EEAA). After the data collection were performed a database in Excel spreadsheet for Windows program and they were analyzed by the software Statistical Analysis System (SAS - version 9.02) and Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS version 16). There was a predominance of female students (84.54 %), with age between 20 and 24 years (50 %), single (76.88 %) and without children (83.12 %). Among the students with children, the majority had one child (58.82 %). 76.42 % live with relatives. It was found that 75.64 % do not practice sports and 60.53 % practice leisure activities. About the academic characteristics 71.73 % do not participate in research/study group and 72.40 % do not receive academic scholarships. However among those who receive financial aid scholarship, the predominant type is in the assistance activities (45.08 %).The most students do not develop any work activity (74.25%), and do not have any university grade (96.88 %). 89.84% of the students said to be satisfied with the course and 36.79% have thought about giving up on it. About the level of stress was observed 15.10% of nursing students are in high stress level, 74.47% in medium level and 9.93 % in the low stress level. In the domains analysis who that had a higher percentage of students in high stress level was Time Management (31.77%). Based on the average of items that make up the EEAA the situation of increased stress for nursing students was having concern about their professional future (x= 2,16). Relating the stress with the sociodemographic and academic characteristics of nursing students, it was found difference statistically significant of the stress with the following variables: age, institution type (public / private), work activity, satisfaction with the course and ever thought about giving up on it. In this sense to know the characteristics of nursing students and stress level of the same, as well as stressors in the academic environment can contribute to propose measures to minimize the effects among these individuals because minimizing the stress is expect better academic performance, less wear and greater satisfaction into of the labor world, since the situations experienced during the academic training are similar to the professional future.

Pryde, Martha P. 15 July 2014 (has links)
M.Cur. / This study addressed the shortage of qualified nursing staff by means of an empirical research questionnaire according to the principles of the Delphi method. The study has as its objective the design of a marketing strategy for a nursing college, and also determines the contribution of marketing staff and formulates guidelines for a marketing programme and the implementation of a marketing strategy. The research consisted of three phases, being a literature survey and analysis of existing marketing models for service careers; the use of the Delphi method In three rounds, as well as critical Interviews with members Included In the sample to verify results; and the final validation with a marketing consultant and three respondents who are experienced marketing staff members. Marketing was regarded as a total system of Interactional activities, and the potential contribution of all involved persons was addressed in compiling a strategic marketing formula. A possible framework for a marketing strategy was determined with specific emphasis on the elements of such a formula, namely marketing staff, target market, products, price, promotional activities, venue and marketing research. It became clear from the research results that a marketing strategy and the guidelines for implementing such a strategy could enable marketing staff to enhance the Image of this career in an organised and planned manner, thereby contributing to the recruitment of nursing students who could resolve the shortage of qualified nursing staff.

Die studenteverpleegkundige in die kliniese praktyk gedurende opleiding

Uys, Marianne Elizabeth 10 September 2014 (has links)
M.Cur. / The student nurse is primarily an individual undergoing personal and professional development towards becoming a competent and creative professional nurse. The presence of the student nurse in the clinical practice during her term of training is aimed at the realisation of this development. Consequently it appears essential that the student nurse be granted the opportunities for gradual personal and professional growth. This constitutes the basis for the advancement of her status as student. On the basis of a literature study a conceptual framework has been developed to serve as the basis for granting student status in South Africa. A descriptive, exploratory survey was undertaken by means of a questionnaire submitted to student nurses registered with a nursing college in the Transvaal. The purpose of the survey was to determine to what extent o student status is being advanced in the clinical practice, and o the service component of the student's training programme possibly obstructs advancement of her student status. From the survey it appears that frequently much of the sparkle attached to being a student is not realised in the clinical practice. This can be ascribed to the dominant utilisation of the student nurse as the primary service unit in the clinical practice. The research results indicate that in the clinical practice student status is only advanced to a limited degree due to the fact that the service component, which requires the student nurse to act as primary service unit during her term of training, greatly obstructs the advancement of her student status. Based on these results certain recommendations have been made.

Basson, Anna Amelia 16 September 2014 (has links)
M.Cur. (Nursing Education) / Although all students planning to do the B.Cur.-degree at the Rand Afrikaans University are subjected to a selection procedure, the attrition rate for the course is considerable. In 1975, only nine of the original 23 students graduated, and in 1976 only ten of the original 31 students were able to complete the course. An attempt was made to evaluate the present selection process which consists of a slidingscale and a structured interview. The sample consisted of all students registering for the B.Cur.-degree from 1975 to 1980. Findings are based on data gathered from selection records and records of academic achievement as well as a structured interview with all applicants. The findings consist of the following - if the slidingscale is to be used in future, students in the catagories 50-59 and 60-69 may be reconsidered for entrance - in the catagories 90-99 and 100+, 46,9 per cent of the students resigned in their first year and research in this connection would be of value the fact that a course is selected as a major, does not seem to be related to academic success, especially during the first year of study - there seems to be a significant positive relationship between the structured interview and academic success. Although research of this specific nature has not yet been replicated, the findings could, however, be seen as representative of B.Cur. students in the Republic of South Africa.

A model for facilitative interaction during conflict in a college of nursing

Tlakula, Ntimela Rachel Cecilia 13 September 2012 (has links)
D.Cur. / The overall objective of this study is to describe a model that will serve as theoretical framework for facilitating interaction to both nurse educators and nursing students during conflict at a college of nursing. There is need for transformation at colleges concerning interaction during conflict and that can be facilitated through practising the opposite elements of negative interaction, identified in the field-work of the research study, which is compliance with norms, justice which is fair and equal treatment, facilitative communication, power sharing, facilitative peer group dynamics. A unique contribution in the model description is the facilitative interaction elements identified as opposites of the results of the field research, namely: Compliance with norms Justice, which is fair and equal treatment Facilitative communication Power sharing Facilitative peer group dynamics.

Kliniese evaluering en die OSKE

Van Aswegen, Elsie Johanna 10 April 2014 (has links)
M.Cur. / Although clinical evaluation and examination is regarded as the basis of scientifically founded nursing care, it is inherently a subjective process. This process is complicated by the variability of four inter-related systems, namely the eyaluator, the clinical environment, the student nurse and other individuals. The purpose of the study was the analysis of current evaluation practices and the OSCE and to determine the perception of clinical educational personnel and student nurses in this regard. Consequently a descriptive exploratory survey was done by means of a questionnaire. For the purpose of this study, clinical teaching. Personnel and student nurses associated with the nine affiliated hospitals of one nursing college in the Transvaal were approached. From the obtained data it appears that clinical evaluation and examination remains, to a certain degree, a subjective process. Preconceptions probably influence human judgement. In spite of the occurrence of identified variables the OSCE appears to be a more acceptable approach to clinical examination than traditional long examination methods.

Comportamentos de saúde e uso de álcool em estudantes de enfermagem / Health and alcohol use behaviors in nursing students

Frigo, Nathassia Barbosa 20 September 2018 (has links)
In the present study, the objective was to evaluate the relationships between alcoholic beverage use and health behaviors of nursing students. This is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 356 nursing students from a public institution in the interior of São Paulo. An instrument containing sociodemographic characteristics, information on substance consumption and related to academic aspects, the Alcohol Use Identification Test and the Health Behavior Questionnaire. The sample consisted predominantly of women (298, 83.7%), young people with an average age of 21.5 ± 3.5 years, ranging from 17 to 49 years old, single (331, 92.9%), catholic (190, 53.7%) and lived with friends (127, 35.6%). The prevalence of problematic alcohol use was 29.4%. The problematic use of alcohol was associated predominantly with students who presented more precarious health behaviors. Students presenting behavior as attending parties (adjusted odds ratio 9.8; 95% reliance interval: 2,672-36,643); sleeping in the classroom the day after attending a party the night before (adjusted odds ratio 2.3; 95% reliance interval 1,186-4,523); not to avoid environments polluted with cigarette smoke (adjusted odds ratio 3.3, reliance interval of 1,714-6,582); not to avoid changing sexual partner (adjusted odds ratio 3.9, 95% reliance interval 1,767-8,900); (adjusted odds ratio 3.3, 95% reliance interval 1,199-9,119), and to consume more than two doses of alcoholic beverages per day (adjusted odds ratio 3.9, range 95% reliance interval 1.957-7.090) presented potentially increased risks for problematic alcohol use in the present sample. The use of alcohol at problematic levels and the adoption of precarious health behaviors have been subjects of great relevance for the establishment of alcohol and / or other drug prevention policies and the promotion of health and healthy lifestyles at the university scope, with a view to minimizing or preventing risk factors and their possible consequences.
