A tese geral da qual se parte é a de que o conceito de pessimismo é estabelecido na tradição filosófica por Arthur Schopenhauer, e que, precisamente por essa razão, ele se torna um dos interlocutores privilegiados das reflexões de Nietzsche. Para demonstrá-la, o esforço do presente trabalho concentrar-se-á em duas frentes: (i) analisar o propósito com que Schopenhauer cria um sistema de pensamento imanente, amparado na noção de vontade (Wille), e em que medida ele fornece sustentação filosófica à sua tese de que não há justificação (Rechtfertigung) para a existência; (ii) problematizar o modo com que Nietzsche recebe tal pensamento, discutir o seu desenvolvimento ao longo da obra do filósofo e, por fim, traçar as diretrizes de seu projeto de transfiguração (Transfiguration, Verklärung, Verwandlung) do pessimismo. Duas noções chave serão utilizadas paralelamente para demonstrar esse processo de criação e desenvolvimento do significado do pessimismo na filosofia de Nietzsche, como o título deixa evidenciar: transfiguração e trágico (Tragische) / Abstract: This doctoral thesis focuses on the way how the theme of pessimism (Pessimismus) is dealt with in Nietzsche's philosophy, by a detailed analysis of the argumentative route followed by the author in his thought. The starting point is the general thesis that Arthur Schopenhauer establishes the concept of pessimism in the philosophical tradition and, precisely for this reason, he becomes one of Nietzsche's reflections privileged interlocutors. In order to demonstrate this thesis, efforts will be made to: (i) analyze the purpose with which Schopenhauer creates an immanent thought system, supported on the notion of will (Wille), and the extent to which it provides philosophical basis to his thesis that there is no justification (Rechtfertigung) for the existence; (ii) problematize the way Nietzsche receives such thought, discuss its development in the course of his work and, finally, to highlight the guide-lines of his project of transfiguration (Transfiguration, Verklärung, Verwandlung) of pessimism. The aesthetic elements, that interact in its architecture, are the metaphor and the irony, procedures that help to build the tragic error of the character-narrator Bentinho and his existencial vision in the intrigue od stubbornness. The theoretical grounding departs from the Poetics of Aristotle and extends to the modern theoreticians: Schopenhauer (1966), Kierkegaar (2005), Bergson (1983), Paz (2005) , et al. The research object is the evidence of the error caused by the doubt on the poetic effect in the romance´s architecture. The tragic error, affects ironically the whole through the optics of the narrator-author Casmurro, preparing the modern vision of Machado de Assis romance. The first chapter entitled The construction of the tragic error presents Aristotle s classic conception proceeded by the modern conception of different authors, making the correlation of the metaphor and irony with Casmurro doubt construction. The second chapter, under the title Tradition x Modernity , treats the concept of Greek tragedy and the tragic element and its function in breaking the values of the past. The third chapter entitled The double function of the tragic error treats the Aristotelian catharsis and its aesthetic effect given the tragicalness of life. In the final considerations, we refer about the effects generated by the cathartic tragicalness process through the metaphor on the dissimulation of the look of Casmurro, due to the construction of the tragic error in the architecture of the romance DOM CASMURRO of Machado de Assis / Esta dissertação se propõe a interpretar a dúvida, desde a concepção clássica à moderna, a partir de sua função estrutural na narrativa DOM CASMURRO. Os elementos estéticos, que interagem na sua arquitetura, são a metáfora e a ironia, procedimentos que ajudam a construir o erro trágico do narrador-personagem Bentinho e sua visão existencial na intriga da casmurrice. A fundamentação teórica parte da Poética de Aristóteles e se estende aos teóricos modernos: Schopenhauer (1966), Kierkegaard (2005), Bérgson (1983), Todorov (1969), Paz (2005) e outros. O objeto de pesquisa é a evidência do erro causado pela dúvida sob o efeito poético na arquitetura do romance .O erro trágico, ironicamente, afeta toda a narrativa pela ótica do autor- narrador Casmurro, preparando a visão moderna do romance machadiano. O primeiro capítulo intitulado A construção do erro trágico apresenta a concepção clássica de Aristóteles seguida pela concepção moderna de vários autores, fazendo a correlação da metáfora e da ironia com a construção dúvida de Casmurro. O segundo capítulo, sob o título Tradição x Modernidade , trata do conceito de tragédia grega e do elemento trágico e sua função na ruptura de valores do passado. This novel represents one of the most dense and complex moments in the artistic project of Antunes. Beginning with the literary criticism and literary theories, this study was developed in three chapters. In the first chapter it was discussed the author's literary project and its utopian character; we still review his literary cycles. In the second chapter it was discussed the importance of poetry and tragedy for the composition of What Can I Do When Everything's On Fire?. In the last chapter it was analyzed in the novel, in its most original and characteristic form, the poetic language and the linguistics strategies by Antunes / Esta dissertação estabelece um estudo do romance Que Farei Quando Tudo Arde?, do escritor português António Lobo Antunes, visando destacar seu percurso poético. Esse romance representa, como buscamos evidenciar, um dos momentos mais densos e complexos da criação literária de Antunes. A partir de pesquisa bibliográfica, que abrangeu fortuna crítica e teorias de base, o estudo foi desenvolvido em três capítulos. No primeiro, buscou-se desvendar o projeto literário do autor e seu caráter utópico, além de ser feita uma revisitação aos diversos ciclos que formam sua obra. No segundo capítulo, discutiu-se a relevância da poesia e da tragédia para a composição de Que Farei Quando Tudo Arde?. Uma análise mais centrada da linguagem poética antuniana e das estratégias utilizadas pelo autor para arquitetar o romance constitui o terceiro e último capítulo

It focuses on the investigation of tragic as a concern that describes the human condition, from its matrix founded in religion, Greek tragedy and the tragic philosophy of Schopenhauer and Nietzsche. In Greek religiosity, the ontological rupture is placed between men and gods: these are immortal and those mortal ones, hence the strength and fragility of their condition. This religious experiment produced an anthropological perception that the Greek poets presented in the Athenian tragedy. In the view of the tragic poet, the meaning of human life was granted by the relationship with the gods and by the mortal condition, originating the tragic situation of the hero. In the modern philosophy of our era, the tragic has become a philosophical category. The elements that shaped the tragic man in the Greek narrative have unfolded on the reflection of the human condition and transformed into the themes that characterize the existential tragedy: the value and purpose of life in face of the ailment of the mortal condition, the human fallibility, human fragility and the contradictions which disintegrate the notion of unity of the world and man. Our hypothesis is that Freud, such as the Greek poets and modern philosophers, conceived a tragic vision of the human condition. Equipped with the Greek and philosophical conceptual repertoires, the intention of this research is to perform an analysis of the Freudian work in order to enlighten the tragedy in the human soul and the relationship between man and culture, configuring Freud s tragic human being / Esta pesquisa trata da concepção antropológica trágica contida na teoria freudiana. Ela parte da investigação do trágico como um conceito que descreve a condição humana, desde sua matriz fundada na religião e na tragédia grega e na visão trágica de homem na filosofia de Schopenhauer e Nietzsche. Na religiosidade grega está colocada a ruptura ontológica entre homens e deuses: estes são imortais e aqueles mortais, daí a força e a fragilidade de sua condição. Essa experiência religiosa produziu uma percepção antropológica que os poetas revelaram na tragédia grega. No entender do poeta trágico, o sentido da vida humana era conferido pela relação com os deuses e pela condição mortal, originando a situação trágica do herói. Na filosofia moderna de nossa era o trágico se tornou categoria filosófica. Os elementos que configuraram o homem trágico na narrativa grega se desdobraram na reflexão sobre a condição humana e se transformaram nos temas que caracterizam o trágico existencial: o valor e a finalidade da vida frente ao padecimento da condição mortal, a falibilidade humana, a fragilidade humana e as contradições que desintegram a noção de unidade do mundo e do homem. Nossa hipótese é que Freud, tal como os poetas gregos e os filósofos modernos, concebeu uma visão trágica da condição humana. A intenção dessa pesquisa é fazer, aparelhada pelos repertórios conceituais gregos e filosóficos, a análise da obra freudiana de modo a iluminar o trágico na alma humana e na relação entre homem e cultura, configurando o homem trágico de Freud
