Leisure agriculture business management - A Case Study of Ecological Farm in Pingtung County

Chang, Ya-Shu 14 February 2012 (has links)
Adjustments for agriculture in Taiwan tend to be made to the entire economic activities in different stages. With the relentless domestic demands for leisure tourism, the development of leisure farms has been gradually gaining ground as an option not only of the revival of agriculture but of the solution to meet the demands. With the transformation in demands, leisure farm operation turns out to be a major focus of the promotion of agricultural tourism by the government. However, the poor command of the management as well as the use of the core resources of the farms by some of the leisure farm operators incurs developmental stagnation. As a result, this study will first explore the logic of leisure farm management and second attempt to provide advice to operators on decision-making over diverse strategies.

The Comparison of Operation Strategy in Hong Kong between Domestic Banks and Foreign Banks

Hsin-yi, Chang 16 June 2007 (has links)
Due to the rampant growth in the number and high similarity of banking activities, the competition among national banks has become vigorous in recent years. At the same time the foreign banks, with advantage of their international experience in diversified operation and management, bring in even more contesting pressure on the domestic banks. Therefore, expanding business arena overseas has become an alternative policy for domestic banks. Presently the overseas branches of our domestic banks are mainly located in the Asia-Pacific countries, such as Hong Kong, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia and Singapore. The current studies were thus conducted to compare operation strategies between domestic banks and foreign banks in Hong Kong, where our domestic banks have established numerous branches. A general introduction was made about the banking development in Hong Kong area in the first part of my study. Two banks were selected for case studies: Fubon Bank Hong Kong (representative of domestic bank) and CitiBank Hong Kong (representative foreign bank). The similarity/differences and respective advantages/disadvantages were summarized in the aspects of their entry and market positioning strategies. The results showed no absolute ideal entry strategy, but rather depended on the market positioning and operation policy of the enterprise. In terms of products, both cases displayed similar product line while the novelty of products became the key to success. Nevertheless, CitiBank prevailed as far as brand name is concerned. Both banks possess comparable network dimension in Hong Kong. Finally we suggest the following principles for those who intend to establish branches in Hong Kong, or destine China and other overseas territories through Hong Kong: (1) Acquire the small and medium banks in Hong Kong or create strategic alliances (2) Put equal emphasis on enterprise financing and consumer financing (3) Take advantage of local resources and fulfill local needs (4) Integrate financial information of Mainland China and Hong Kong

The Research on the Entry Mode and Operation Strategy for Taiwan Enterprises invest in Mainland China--Example of the Construction related Industry

Liu, Hui-Min 21 June 2002 (has links)
ABSTRACT Construction industry was used to be famous as the leader of whole industry, and had close relationship with prosperity, influenced the development of industry. However, the industry in Taiwan now is facing economic moves in circles and structure adjustment, and the key roles of the leading industry were replaced by high-tech industry. There were many documents about oversea entry mode and management abroad in Taiwan, but the records almost tended to manufacturing industry especially concentrating on the electronic industry, seldom discussed about construction industry. This study base on former experience and relevant theory in accordance with entry mode and operation strategy for construction industry which already to or desire to invest in Mainland China, and try to bring up some actually suggestion and manner, hopping that it can contribute to government for reference to draw up guidance and assistance policy. At the mean time, it is anticipated that this study could also assists the construction industry to make a right determination at business operation in Mainland. This study has found that even through the construction industry lied in difficult operation and low profits recently, the willing to Mainland China for invest is still weak. Most of them were changed their business to decoration, real estate, housing management and building materials industry .The main reason is people thought Mainland market still has some uncertain factors till now. According to this research, the restricted factors on laws & decrees and entry threshold are main influences for construction industry, which attends to invest in Mainland China. As above result it bring up many different kinds of register, such as borrowing a license form local company, registering by local people, acquiring local company, attaching to local company for cooperative business operation, registering as Taiwan merchant and registering as oversea company..etc. On the topic of operation strategy, traditional operation strategy for construction industry in Taiwan are overall cost leadship, economical scale, brand priority strategy, turnkey with funds raised by them, market segmentation. This study base on four strategies: market extension, market development, market penetration and diversification, which could further understanding the similarities and dissimilarities between theory and practice for construction industry. Investigating result shoes that the construction industry still place greater expectation in Mainland China, it is hope that they could use their superiority in company management & control, financial affairs control, marketing sale & development to coordinate various strategies such as diversification, brand priority strategy to develop new market, and in specialized field to get reasonable price .At the same time, they also wish themselves to be competed against in different market level, and choose a professional specialty to reach the goal . In general, this study has also found that the reasons for construction industry could not go all out to Mainland are the restriction on law & decrees in cross-Strait, high entry threshold relatively, difficult to shift business from one side to another, industry scale & capital insufficient, still raw in Mainland market, not have steady subcontractor, difficult to get business from the local government, lacking international view & globalization experience. It results that most of the construction industry now still can¡¦t make a decision to invest in Mainland China. The concrete suggestion of this study includes long-term & planned way to overall arrangement, carefully choose the right entry mode, localized in new business area, strategy alignment, seriously deal with account & tax, to be familiar with industry profession laws & decrees, specialization & diversification, operation management & cost control, train up globalization specialized field ability, to seize the opportunity of joining the WTO & applying for the Olympics, and other particular considerations such as region , traffic , climate ..etc. Restricted by the incompletely open up cross-Strait policy, the construction industry couldn¡¦t go all out to Mainland as manufacturing industry. Even through it was noticed during sample designing stage; the result of this study is difficult to get a universal experience in order to further analyze the entry mode of the construction industry. This study also uses case study to enhance the contents, but the number of sample and its representative is still insufficient. Herein, the successor could rely on more experience of construction industry and this topic to carry on further research in future.

Experimental and Numerical Studies on Multiple Well Pairs SAGD Performance

Wang, Xinkui 11 1900 (has links)
A laboratory experiment and a numerical simulation of a dual well pair SAGD process with live bitumen were conducted to examine operating strategies on the recovery performance of a multiple well pair SAGD process. The experiment was successfully carried out under such operation strategies as injecting steam into one well pair while producing from both producers after chambers mergence to sweep the oil between the two well pairs. The experimental results showed high oil recovery from the transition region between the two well pairs with these operation strategies. Numerical simulation matched reasonably well experimental results, which indicated that the numerical model captured the key mechanisms of the dual well pairs experiment. The improved SAGD process behaviour and performance was demonstrated in terms of faster oil production, enhanced solution gas production, and accelerated adjacent chambers communication in the experimental and numerical studies. These operation strategies could be applied in the multiple well pairs SAGD and enhance SAGD performance after steam chambers merge between adjacent well pairs. / Petroleum Engineering

Research in the operating strategy of toy industry investing in Guang Dong China

Yang, Wei-chien 05 August 2004 (has links)
Abstract Taiwan corporations must maintain sustainable competitive advantage in the competitive global market to cope with the deteriorated industry environment in Taiwan. This research concentrates on exploring toy industry¡¦s investing process, and operating strategy in mainland China. All multinational enterprises entering China must be aware that even with cheaper labor and land cost, from 1986 to 2004, less then twenty years of rapid changes in China¡¦s toy industry, China is still a fast changing and competitive area for industry development. Based on the study of Company A¡¦s operation, one of the major purpose of this research is to provide corporate strategies for those industries that are interested in entering China, as well as toy industries that are currently in operation. Furthermore, as far as China investment, existing studies only focused on the entry mode; however, the results of these studies did not provide enough experience since most industry¡¦s investment in China is only at the introduction stage. However, since toy industry requires massive labor and is more competitive with Hong Kong¡¦s factories, both Taiwan and Hong Kong enterprises obtain complete operating experiences; and therefore provide valuable studies. The study of Company A has achieved the following conclusions: 1. Industry¡¦s moving outward is due to inconsistency of corporate value and society value in the economic region. Enterprises¡¦ operating strategy is to achieve society value, create customer value, and satisfy employee value in order to accomplish corporate value. 2. Time-based competitive advantage is to apply the concept of competitive advantage into dynamic operation strategy. Efficiency is the success factor of achieving competitive advantage. 3. Acknowledging industry mind-set, meaning to realize, to assume, and to expect specific industry in order to decide how corporate could increase value and to compete with others. 4. Local advantage is more important than core competencies. 5. Taiwan¡¦s industry should merge with area economic, for example, Taiwan-Shanghai, Taiwan-Shenzhen, Taiwan-Xiamen, to avoid Taiwan¡¦s industry become isolated from clusters.

Fault Restoration of Distribution System by Considering Customer Service Priority

Yeh, Chao-ching 10 February 2003 (has links)
When a permanent fault occurs in distribution systems, the fault location should be detected, isolated and the un-faulted but out of service areas have to be restored. The outage areas can be minimized by the switching operation based on the system load characteristics. By integrating the Outage Management Information System (OMIS), the connectivity of customers and feeder/transformer, the Customer Information System (CIS), the Automated mapping /Facility Management (AM/FM) with the customer load patterns, the hourly load demand and the service priority index of each distribution feeder and each service zone are calculated. By this way, the service restoration of the most power demand and customers can be obtained for the fault contingency of distribution system. To enhance the effectiveness of switching operation for fault contingency of distribution system, the Expert System with CLIPS has been developed by considering the operation rules in the application software program. A underground distribution system with 26 feeders in Kaohsiung District of Taiwan Power Company has been selected for computer simulation to solve the proper switching operation by taking into account the service priority of customers. It has been verified that the proposed methodology can restore the customer power service effectively by Expert System with distribution operation rules.

In order to contribute to the growing understanding of production management in companies that are part of supply chains, this paper aims to identify and analyze production strategies adopted by three companies in the construction industry, located in the city of São Carlos/SP and assess to what extent these production strategies identified condition and are conditioned by structural and relational characteristics of supply chains in which they operate. This is on the propositions that (1) the production strategy influences the structure and relationships of the supply chain and that, in turn, (2) the supply chain affects the production strategies adopted. Thus, using the theoretical literature on manufacturing strategy and the supply chain management were prepared scripts for conducting interviews in three companies in the construction industry selected, seeking to address issues related to the objectives and proposals mentioned. In some of the questions asked to the respondents consider specific constructions to make the information on important aspects are more easily understood. The case studies reinforce the propositions formulated: small businesses in the construction industry fell into well-established infrastructure of suppliers and have limited bargaining power to influence the behavior of its suppliers. But, depending primarily niche markets they choose, seek to define strategies to produce consistent, selecting suppliers and establishing relationships with them to meet their specific competitive priorities of production.
