The life story of Aureliza Alves do Nascimento is entwined with the fictitiouns tales written by Jorge Amado, a baiano book writer. Aureliza did not accept the reality imposed upon her nor the humiliation of having been betrayed by her husband in the small town of Ibicaraí, south of Bahia. She decided to restart her life in the Great São Paulo, and temporarily left her children behind. Her journey towards freedom and a new life only ended when she reunited with them, not without facing all sorts of setbacks generated by sexist relationships still faced by women both in São Paulo and Bahia / Esta pesquisa gira em torno das questões de gênero, tradição oral e literatura, a partir do cruzamento que se faz da história de vida de Aureliza Alves do Nascimento e das histórias fictícias do escritor baiano Jorge Amado. Aureliza não aceitou a realidade que lhe foi imposta e a humilhação de ser traída por seu marido na pequena cidade de Ibicaraí, no sul da Bahia, e foi buscar o recomeço na grande São Paulo. Para este recomeçar ela partiu numa jornada onde tentou recuperar seus filhos, abandonados temporariamente por ela na Bahia, quando ocorreu sua fuga, enfrentando os obstáculos criados pelas relações sexistas que assolam até hoje esses dois espaços que ela ocupou
