A Study of Information Flow and Organizational Process -- An Example of Implementation of Engineering Change in TFT-LCD Industry in Taiwan

Tsai, I-Lung 07 August 2006 (has links)
On account of the rapid change of the market structure of the globalization economy, the competition strategy of the enterprises has conversed from simply pursuing high quality and low cost in the past into the strategy of product design and manufacturing which seeks for satisfying customers¡¦ requirements. Under the manufacturing trend of ODM, in addition that the trades shall continue taking consideration of the original factors of low cost and high quality, factors like the launch time of products, the speed of delivery date and the satisfaction degree of the customers¡¦ requirements have even become the key ones if the enterprises can maintain their competitiveness. Therefore, the enterprise have to make the products design and production operation more flexible so as to accommodate in time with the markets and also conform to the gradually promoted ODM requirements from the markets and continue enhancing ¡§Time-to-Customer¡¨ capability so as to meet and conform to the developing tendency of enterprises¡¦ globalization. Nevertheless, in the current environment of product¡¦s life cycle¡¦s shortening and the uncertain customers¡¦ requirements uncertain, engineering change has then become one considerably important operation of the enterprise in high technology industry. In order to exactly conform to the requirements from the customers and the markets, in each stage of the whole product life cycle whatever in development, samples delivery, production and even the products being sent to the customers may require the demand of engineering change. Consequently, the engineering change is required to have enough emergency dealing capability to ensure the quality, results and the accomplishment of requirements of the products. Only in this way the enterprise shall establish itself in an unassailable position. The purpose of the study is to provide with the management operation procedure of the engineering change suitable for the domestic enterprises by conferring ways of information process and organization process design. First, after it has conferred the products R&D design process or development operation process, it further proposes the corresponding operation strategy, operation process analysis of the industry and applies information technology to achieve the characteristics of the engineering change according to the research result of the academy¡¦s documents. By the control organization of the engineering change and the establishment of the stratum framework, the conclusion of the job duties of the organization and the design of the handling operation process of the engineering change handling, it can control the proposal, dealing, and implement of the engineering change. Taking a case company for example, it has employed the conclusion and suggestion it has obtained by carrying our the analysis and how to apply information technology to implement the engineering change management separately in object to the operation modes to be provided as the reference for the TFT LCD industry in Taiwan to proceed the procedure design while the engineering change management is carried out. Study on Multinational Corporations's Organizational Adjustment After Merger & Acquisition-Taking W as an Example

Shen, Chun-Mei 21 August 2007 (has links)
Since it is a normal path for business to go for internationalization through merge and acquisition, there are always cases that end up with non expectable results. Therefore, there do exist huge risks in doing merge and acquisition. However, the probability of making a successful merge and acquisition could be improved by applying for appropriate strategic concerns. Finally, it is essential for managerial implications to find out the key factors of successful merge and acquisition. The thesis tried to find out factors that affect the process, and the outcome of merge and acquisition. By interviewing these key persons of W Company, we concluded with problems including culture, leadership, organization process, and human resources management that do have significant influence on the merge and acquisition progress. Furthermore, we try conclude and making hypotheses according to our interview. The purpose of our thesis was to discuss factors that affect the performance of merge and acquisition, such as corporate culture, leadership, operation process, and organization. According to the conclusions made from Narrative Method, it showed that these factors to some extent did have significant influence on the performance of post merge and acquisition. Therefore, anyone who wants to have splendid performance of merge and acquisition could not ignore these ones. According to the results, as we defined that whenever the performance ¡§turns from loss to profit,¡¨ it means that the merger is getting into success. Therefore, as the case is making huge profit many years after the action of merger, this is really a ¡§success¡¨ case. Therefore, the propositions and survey records are really precious and referral literatures for practical and academic.

Business Process Outsourcing: An Exploratory Study

Johnson, David 10 August 2005 (has links)
This study examines the emergence of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) in white collar occupations. Recent BPO practices are compared to the offshore outsourcing of production in the context of the shift from Fordist to flexible production. The study considers BPO in light of Harry Braverman's theory of work degradation and whether or not BPO extends the traditional division of labor between conception and execution to higher skilled white collar occupations. An exploratory qualitative approach comprised of informant interviews, a focus group, and literature review was used to analyze how BPO occurs, why it happens, and where it takes place. I discuss the role of politics and corporate culture in outsourcing white collar jobs and examine the practice of transitioning workers from client to BPO service providers. The study concludes with a skill-based typology of BPO services and suggestions for policy and future research.

All the manufacturers of motorcycles in the country take part in the pole, making it important not only for the economy of the Amazon, but also to the national economy. The inefficiency of the control processes can result in various effects such as lack of finished products, increase of inventory costs and interruption of production among others. Data collection on Two Wheels Pole considered: secondary data by analysis of documents of SUFRAMA dealing with import procedures; primary data by applying a questionnaire to companies with objective and subjective questions; and empirical observation. The results indicate that the companies had little satisfaction in some aspects and reasonable satisfaction in other points about the current process control imports of inputs accomplished by SUFRAMA. When stimulated, the companies pointed out to fully support by SUFRAMA to put available a list of inputs for import (list of allowed inputs) for each motocycle model approved in their respective projects, that significantly simplify to fill out the Import Licensing Aplication and all previous steps for the enterprises and SUFRAMA / Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo avaliar a eficácia da operacionalização dos processos de controles de insumos efetuada pela Superintendência da Zona Franca de Manaus, no período 2000-2008, para a concessão de anuência às empresas fabricantes de motociclos do Pólo Duas Rodas importarem através da Lista Padrão de Insumos SUFRAMA.

Japan's Security Decisions: Allison's Conceptual Models and Missile Defense Policy

Howell, Dennis H. 29 June 2005 (has links)
This research project assesses the continued utility of Allison's three policy-making models in analyzing contemporary foreign policy problems. It also explores the effect of cultural considerations on Allison's concepts by delving into the unique themes of Japanese politics. The climate in which this policy decision is made is framed through a discussion of the strategic environment and Japanese defense policy following the Cold War and 9/11. The rational actor, organizational process, and bureaucratic politics models are applied to Japan's 2003 decision to field a missile defense system through a qualitative analysis of English-language secondary hard-copy and online sources. Some Japanese government materials are reviewed as well; the Japanese language, however, presented challenges to research. Despite the expectation that the rational actor model best describes the Japanese approach to missile defense, this project shows the true value of Allison's theories lies in their capacity to expose issues relevant to policy problems from varying perspectives. Japan's missile defense policy likely resulted from a combination of the three models, each influenced in varying degrees by the cultural aspects of Japanese politics. / Master of Arts

This research proposes an Organizational Process for Change Management, justified from a theoretical gap of operational detail on the subject, combined with the practical demand for an artifact that is part of the organizational routine for Change Management. To design and develop the Proposed Process was used the Methodology of Design Research that is a guide to develop artifacts to improve systems or problem solving. Although generic, the Proposed Process for Change Management was inspired by an existing organizational environment. As a source of analysis, development and partial implementation of the new proposal, a company in the mining sector was used. To develop the activities were mainly used the principles and techniques contained in the System Thinking. As a complement for activities and phases not included in this approach, were used the Theory of Constraints Thinking Process and the Methodology for Transformation Process - TransMeth. Identified the problem in the field led to a review of existing literature for initial exploration and understanding of models and methods to systematize the conduct and management of the change process in organizations. The studies found were categorized into three different detail levels: level 1 - models which illustrate the stages and explain how change occurs in organizations; level 2 - suggested guidelines for driving the change, explaining the "what" should or not should be made to the achievement of an effective change; level 3 - methods that guide "how" manage the change, usually developed from Methods for Identification, Analysis and Solution of Problems existing in the theoretical field. The fourth level artifact of this study, proposes a process for organizational change management, defining activities, responsible, documents, rituals, and performance measures.

The Relationship Between Information Technology and Organizational Effectiveness as Perceived by Health Care Providers

Ukaga, Christian Chikwem 01 January 2015 (has links)
The U.S. Congress has made health information technology a central component of the national quest to improve health care delivery. The problem addressed in this study was the uncertainty among healthcare providers regarding the benefits of health care information technology adoption relative to healthcare delivery processes and outcomes. The purpose of the study was to understand the effectiveness of information technology as perceived by healthcare providers. The research questions were designed to investigate the relationship between health information technology and organizational effectiveness, exchange of information, organizational process, organizational productivity, and direct personal care. Sociotechnical systems theory and Donabedian's framework for health care quality evaluation were the theoretical bases for this quantitative study. Data were provided through anonymous online survey of 116 healthcare workers, and analyzed using multiple regression and Spearman's correlation coefficient. The results of the study showed a statistically significant positive correlation between organizational effectiveness, organizational exchange of information, organizational process, organizational productivity, and healthcare information technology. No statistically significant correlation existed between personal care and health information technology. These findings suggest that providers' frequent use of healthcare information technology, like telemedicine, makes patients less involved. The implications for social change include enabling healthcare providers to develop an efficient and effective way to engage with patients, in order to achieve effective patient-centered organization.
