Elevers erfarenheter och upplevelser av friluftliv : En kvalitativ studie med killar i årskurs 7 / Students experiences of outdoor activities : A qualitative study of boys in primary school

Kristofer, Palm January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of the study is to find out what experience of outdoor activities, known as friluftsliv  in Sweden, pupils have and shed light on the perceptions they have about outdoor living. The study is based on focus group interviews with a total of ten guys in the seventh grade in primary school. The interviews were filmed, transcribed and analyzed by the writer. The starting point of this study is that friluftsliv is a culturally created phenomenon and the theoretical perspective is based on Bourdieu's famous concept: Capital, field, habitus and taste. All the students had positive experiences of being in the outdoors. Some used outdoor activities as a method for training. Many of the students experienced outdoor living and the experience of being in the nature as an end in itself. The socio-economic background maybe played some role in their taste and experience of some outdoor activities. Some students felt that outdoor activities can be a way to learn things about nature and that it was important to pass on that knowledge to their children. Students' experiences in outdoor activities at school consisted mostly of orienteering and a lack of other outdoor activities emerged. It´s important as a teacher to start from the pupils' previous experience to create an enjoyable learning. According to the author, there are good opportunities for these students to embrace the teaching of friluftliv based on experiential learning out in the wild.

The participation level was low in local community and moderate for tourists. Participation level was elevated in international tourists and in local community it was declining. Nature and types of facilities the study area had were satisfactory to all the respondents. Management of the facilities were regarded as inefficient and the Game Reserve gets most income from its profit and Government of Swaziland. To address the concerns of the decreasing level of participation, various recommendations were suggested. These include creation of projects to facilitate the participation level in outdoor recreation, provision of outdoor recreation facilities and activities, marketing and promotion of Malolotja Game Reserve, involving the government in development of outdoor recreation, provision of access to finance, development of information centres and lastly improve safety and security. The information sources utilized on the study were the magazines from that period, government reports and also the Club do Remo regulation code. The root question was: How did the body education through water use in Belém do Pará happened between 1855 and the 1920¿s decade? I have targeted to understand the articulation between a scenario composed by medic-hygienic knowledge and with legislative character, articulated to the urbanization process and modernization of Belem, understanding them as pedagogic dispositive which end up forging a new and positive direction towards outdoor life and environment; being it fundamental to the idea of progress and modernity that was being established on the period. Between the conclusions, there are: 1) the notion of body education amalgamated to the use of water and therefore to the invention of a positive outdoor life, has integrated the process of modernization experienced by Belem; 2) I have identified a transition from a state of fear, shortage and mortality to a state of joy, celebration, health and spectacle, having the water, environment, the city, the body and the nautical sport as the core and the animation; 3) the celebration races and the spread of the aquatic sportive practices have contributed to the new meanings related to the waterfronts of Belem, being critical for the projects of modernization and "European sophistication" of Belem idealized by Antonio Lemos; 4) Turning the aquatic practices in sports came from the acceptance of the technical and physical training methods focusing the young athletes; 5) the sportsmen reflected and amplified the core capitalist values that were advancing towards Belem; 6)a modern and positive sense of outdoor life, idealized from the exposure to the waters, was leveraged as high as it has leveraged the urbanity ideal expressed by progress, science and capitalism / Doutorado / Educação, Conhecimento, Linguagem e Arte / Doutor em Educação
