Bergmann-Arnold, Astrid 06 March 2013 (has links) (PDF)

Kant's Anthropology from a Foucauldian Point of View

Melville, Peter 08 1900 (has links)
<p>The last of Immanuel Kant's texts to be published in his lifetime, Anthropology from a Pragmatic Point of View [Anthropology in Pragmatischer Hinsicht] (1798) has gone virtually undiscussed in twentieth-century English scholarship. In fact, Susan Meld Shell appears to be the only English scholar to provide even a marginal account of its position in Kant's oeuvre. Part of my thesis will address why the Anthropology -- a rather strange and anomalous text in that it easily betrays the anxieties behind one of the most guarded, rigourous, and determined thinkers of the Enlightenment -- is such a marginalized text. Why are critics of Kant so willing to dismiss it? With this question in mind, I aim to reveal some of the more critical interests and investments motivating the text's fundamental query: who is the anthropos of anthropology, that is, who or what is "man"? Although Kant concedes that the question is ultimately insoluble, that the I definition of man is ostensibly circumscribed by the absence of an ontologically equivalent external other, he insists on problematizing "man" as the stage or site on which the dramatic contest between reason and unreason or concord and discord takes place. Whereas Shell limits her brief discussion of the Anthropology to consider how Kant ls personal experience with hypochondria determines the scope and emphasis of his pragmatic anthropology, I will argue that the text's hypochondriacal resonances stem from a larger concern for what Foucault calls the "cultivation" or "care of the self." Consequently, I will read the Anthropology as a kind of conduct book that traces the manner in which the subject, in its relationship to itself: styles and maintains its own self-sovereignty. I argue, moreover, that Kant ls text reflects an ideological shift in emphasis in the history of ethics, a shift in which the bourgeois subject redefines its relationship to itself in order to preserve its differential value as the central or privileged figure in the semiotics of the health of the body and of the soul.</p> / Master of Arts (MA)

O uso do pov-ray no ensino de geometria analítica no ensino médio

Ornélio Hinterholz Junior 23 April 2015 (has links)
In the middle of Information Age, in which young people show up passionate and eager for technological innovations, it is no longer possible to practice in the classroom, in a perennial way, only just the traditional teaching methodologies. This research aimed to innovate pedagogically by establishing theoretical and practical connections between the applicable Computer Graphics and the High School Analytic Geometry content in order to develop the skills required to students. The kinds of methodologies used in this research were: descriptive and exploratory (as for objectives), qualitative (as for approach), and literature review (as for procedures). The aim was achieved through a thorough literature review, culminating in the development of conceptual maps, which correlated concepts of Analytical Geometry with concepts of Computer Graphics. Didactic sequences, also were prepared, defined based on Meaningful Learning Theory of Ausubel and the Theory of Geometric Reasoning Levels of Van Hiele and adapted from problems publicly available by University of Cambridges NRICH Project. The adaptation was necessary in order to allow the problems resolution with the use of a ray-tracing software called POV-Ray.

Fedina, Jekaterina 04 July 2014 (has links)
Pagrindinis šio darbo tikslas susipažinti su steganografijos mokslu bei statistiniais stegoanalizės metodais, kurių dėka slepiama ir atrandama informacija įvairiuose failuose. Šitame magistro darbe išnagrinėti, aprašyti bei įgyvendinti du steganografijos ir du stegoanalizės metodai. Visi metodai realizuoti JAVA programavimo kalba, daliai matematiniams skaičiavimams atlikti panaudota MAPLE programa. Darbo pabaigoje pateikta metodų analizė. / The main goal of the thesis is to review the methods of steganography and steganalysis and to experiment with them. Steganography helps to embed hidden messages in such way that anyone except the intended recipient is unaware of the existence of the message but with the use of statistical steganalysis methods those hidden messages can be detected. This thesis consists of two steganography (LSB and LSBH) and two steganalysis methods (RS and PoV) description and implementation. All methods were implemented with JAVA code. Thesis is concluded with a comparison of these methods' quality.

Změny ve srážko-odtokovém režimu v povodí Stropnice / Changes of rainfall-runoff regime in the Stropnice river-basin

Volková, Alena January 2010 (has links)
This paper deals with the rainfall-runoff regime in the Stropnice river-basin and its development. The aim of this paper is to answer the question of‚were there any changes in the runoff regime during the period 1945 - 2009, and if so, were these changes conditioned by climate or were they caused by human interventions' (e. g. river network modification, changes of the land cover, drainage systems development etc.). The single-mass and double- mass curves were used as the primary methodology. The homogeneity of the time series of mean discharge, precipitation and air temperature were statistically tested using Mann-Whitney-Pettit test and Mann-Whitney test. The Mann-Whitney-Pettit test was performed using the programme AnClim (v5.012), which is freely available online, the Mann-Whitney test was performed using SPSS 15.0. Non-parametric Mann-Kendall test was used for the trend detection, performed in MULTMK/PARTMK by C. Libiseller and A. Grimvall, also freely available online. Some changes in the runoff regime were uncovered in the early 80s', when the runoff decreased, which also happened after 1988. During these periods almost no annual flood occured. The first decrease of the runoff was caused by a drier season in the 80s'. The second decrease after 1988 was probably caused by a build-up of the...

Τέλος, η εμπειρία που αποκομίσθηκε με βάση το Arduino μας οδήγησε στη μελέτη μιας εκπαιδευτικής πλατφόρμας βασισμένη σε FPGA, το «F-Penguino», που ως στόχο έχει να αναδείξει την ευελιξία και ταχύτητα συστημάτων βασισμένα σε υλοποίηση με περιγραφή υλικού / In this thesis, we design and implement various systems based on the Arduino platform. The first system is a Wireless Persistence of Vision Display, which is actually a round screen, made of a rotating column of LEDs. We also design a system capable of fast prediction and reconstruction of signals, with an utter goal, its future use in effectively connecting different power networks. Furthermore, we implement a sound source localization system, using DSP techniques and fundamental robotics. Finally, the experience obtained using the Arduino, led us to involve with an FPGA based platform, the “F-Penguino”, the goal of which is to indicate the versatility and speed of systems based on hardware-description implementations.

Realistické zobrazení budovy s proměnným osvětlením / Realistic Rendering of a Building with Varying Lighting Conditions

Navrátil, Jan January 2008 (has links)
This paper is focused on realistic rendering of interior environments with varying lighting conditions. It proposes methods of setting properties of light sources to achieve a specific scene appearence. It mainly works with light comming from a sky and sun to the scene and describes this light in relation to weather conditions, time of day and overcast factor. The goal is creating easily configurable system in which a single parameter change leads to significant change of lighting conditions. All these changes should be presented in a short video.

TEXTILE - Augmenting Text in Virtual Space

Hansen, Simon January 2016 (has links)
Three-dimensional literature is a virtually non-existent or in any case very rare and emergent digital art form, defined by the author as a unit of text, which is not confined to the two-dimensional layout of print literature, but instead mediated across all three axes of a virtual space. In collaboration with two artists the author explores through a bodystorming workshop how writers and readers could create and experience three-dimensional literature in mixed reality, by using mobile devices that are equipped with motion sensors, which enable users to perform embodied interactions as an integral part of the literary experience. For documenting the workshop, the author used body-mounted action cameras in order to record the point-of-view of the participants. This choice turned out to generate promising knowledge on using point-of-view footage as an integral part of the methodological approach. The author has found that by engaging creatively with such footage, the designer gains a profound understanding and vivid memory of complex design activities. As the outcome the various design activities, the author developed a concept for an app called TEXTILE. It enables users to build three-dimensional texts by positioning words in a virtual bubble of space around the user and to share them, either on an online platform or at site-specific places. A key finding of this thesis is that the creation of three-dimensional literature on a platform such as TEXTILE is not just an act of writing – it is an act of sculpture and an act of social performance.
