A study of drug-plastic interactions in a variety of plastic containers

Smith, Charles Arthur 01 January 1979 (has links)
In most hospitals today, plastic devices are replacing the traditional metal, glass and rubber. The increased use of polymeric materials as implanted prosthetic devices, catheters, disposable equipment and for the administration of blood, intravenous fluids and drugs has been widely accepted by the medical profession. This present study was designed to evaluate different types of plastics for potential use as large volume parenteral containers. Using several different therapeutic agents, a variety of plastic containers were examined for the possibility of the occurrence of drug-plastic interactions. The inclusion in the study of a commercially available plasticized product used for the administration of parenteral solutions was to compare the results of commercial products to non-commercial products.

Stability, packaging, storage, and sterilization of a medicated dry foam

Gostanian, Armen 01 January 1975 (has links)
The basic unmedicated formula consists of dextran, sorbitol, Miranol 2 MCA Modified, and water. The major advantages of the film are 1) fast release rates, 2) ease of application to denuded skin without aggravation, and 3) lack of necessity for removal, hence no aggravation. However, it is extremely sensitive to moisture and elevated temperatures which is a major disadvantage. Excessive humidity will solubilize the film or make it too tacky to handle while very low humidity causes the film to lose its flexibility. Also, elevated temperatures remove moisture from the film and cause it to lose flexibility much as with low humidities. This study was designed to evaluate further this new dosage form with respect to: (1) Modification of formula to minimize moisture sensitivity.; (2) Determination of a suitable packaging material.; (3) Determination of proper storage conditions.; (4) Determination of shelf-life of silver sulfadiazine and nitrofurazone dry foams.; (5) Determination of a suitable sterilization method(s).

Analýza vlivu pouzdření na izolační vlastnosti / Analyze of Packaging Impact on Insulating properties

Pulec, Jiří January 2009 (has links)
Modern analog systems processing signals with very small amplitude are prone to distortion, which is caused by leakage between signal traces. Causation of this is contamination of insulating gap, which insulates these traces. Goal of this thesis is to design and manufacturing of test structure, which allows classification of influence of contamination on substrate on leakage, and another goal is classification of technologiacal processes in light of contamination of substrate with electroactive inpurities. Based on results of this experiments are defined rules leading to optimizing of properties of manufactured structures. Attention is applied to ceramic substrates with conductive traces which are created with thick film technology.

Modular File Scanner for RPM / Modular File Scanner for RPM

Mlčoch, Tomáš January 2014 (has links)

Potentiel d'antioxydants naturels pour la stabilisation de polymères pour emballages alimentaires et le développement de méthodes pour évaluer leur migration / Potential of natural antioxidants for the stabilization of polymers for food packaging and the development of methods for evaluating their migration.

Issart, Ambre 18 October 2019 (has links)
Plastic packagings are notorious for the increased pollution they cause. The direct effects on humans are mainly due to the migration of compounds from plastic to the foods it contains. These compounds have various origins: additives, impurities, degradation products, uncontrolled reactions… For lack of being able to stop this migration, we chose to take advantage of it with new materials, called active materials. The objectives of these materials are to extend the shelf life of foods through a so-called “positive” migration. However, the use of natural additives is complicated due to their poor resistance to temperature. The problem is therefore to find natural additives resistant to the polymers’ extrusion temperatures, while stabilizing them. It is in this context that my thesis topic was set up within the Foodyplast project (POCTEFA). The thesis is divided into four parts. A state of the art is first presented. The following chapter details the various techniques used to produce and characterize our materials and the development of a new method based on mass spectrometry (LESA-MS). The third chapter discusses in detail the implementation of new materials stabilized by natural additives and their physico-chemical characterization. We have shown that the joint use of these additives (alpha tocopherol/ascorbic acid and alpha-tocopherol/tannins) significantly increases the stabilization effect on the polymer matrix (patented innovation). These materials have also shown to be recyclable up to 9 times without degradation. Finally, the last chapter potential of the new LESA-MS method (developed in Chapter 2) for its efficient of our materials. This method is compared to that of the current European standard and opens up real prospects for performing analyses in polymers for different applications.

Customer experience through packaging in an online context : Creating value to neo-luxury customers in Generation Y

Hammers, Karin, Herrlin, Almina, Johansson, Adam January 2020 (has links)
The development of technology has contributed to a fast-growing market for e- commerce. Through e-commerce, the physical interaction has decreased, and new interaction tools have been implemented to gain competitive advantage. Packaging is one way to communicate with customers and often the first physical contact with brands when purchasing online. Packaging can create value and enhance the customer experience. The purpose of this research, from a business perspective, is to investigate how designed packaging from an online neo-luxury brand affects customers within Generation Y (1980-1994) when the product is received. The study aim to provide an understanding of how the customer experience can be affected through designed packaging. This study applied a qualitative research method with a deductive approach in order to answer the research questions and the purpose. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with Swedish citizens within Generation Y that have purchased products from neo-luxury brands. The result of the study shows several aspects of how packaging can contribute to better customer experience. When customers’ expectations on packaging are surpassed, the customer experience is affected positively. Packaging containing tissue paper and gifts enhance the unboxing experience. Packaging is a way for companies to create value and affect customers’ attitudes towards brands. Satisfaction is affected by expectations and packaging can contribute to a better overall experience.

: une approche expérimentale / The impact of "toy-packaging" on the 7 to 11 children attitude toward a brand : an experimental approach

Mzoughi, Manel 08 December 2017 (has links)
This research aims to study the emotional response of children and their behavior toward playful packaging such as a "toy-packaging". It aims also to test mediating role of socio-demographic variables on these links. Thus we used four different prototypes of "toy-packaging" according to the presence or not of anthropomorphic and reusable criteria for a product that does not arouse the interest of children (shower-gel). The experiment was duplicated in two different contexts in order to establish the universality of results, it is about a first study operated in France followed by a second one operated in Tunisia. Research has shown a positive impact of the anthropomorphic criterion on the child's affective response to the brand in both contexts. Although the impact of the second criterion (reusability) has only been validated in Tunisia. The analysis of the differences between the two criteria of "toy-packaging" reveals the importance to be identified to a hero / emblem among young consumers. Thus, the youngest children (7 and 8 yrs) are more enthusiastic towards brands packaged in "toy packaging" rather than their elders. Subjective age is therefore a variable that explains these inter-segment differences.
