No. of bitstreams: 1 Mayara da Silva Peghim Cabral.pdf: 876430 bytes, checksum: f2ffc191ae9eb87e0d259fe469487ee5 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-11-08 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / It is known that the accession and incorporation of (ICTs) Information and Communication Technologies have changed worldwide, patterns of behavior, personal and family relationships. Particularly the smartphone, which is called a smart phone by its features such as, Internet access and operating systems, has been used by most of the population including children and adolescents. Daily its usage becomes increasingly personal and, through the application downloads, are used for various purposes making it difficult to measurement of parents. It is estimated that by 2018 in Brazil, the number of smartphones in use reaches the 268 million unit mark and therefore their use is increasingly present also within families. This qualitative research sought to identify with the parents and guardians of children and adolescents 7-17 years the types of ICT use in the home and characterize what are the risks that their children would face when using a smartphone and what they thought they understood for risk and protection on the internet. Through two different times, the survey was attended 52 parents who answered an online questionnaire containing 19 multiple choice questions and three open type questions analyzed descriptively. In a second moment, another 27 parents attended in person a lecture and left written testimony that were subjected to content analysis. As main results, stood out that all the family group makes use of ICTs at various moments of the routine and all members have their own smartphone. There is a concern about the risks present in the access and use of the devices because of its connection to the internet and it was evidenced that parents act in a passive way amid the use of smartphones. We emphasize the risks, but do not perceive the full potential that the use provides. The parents expect the school to be a mediator and exert information role in relation to education and ICT issues. With its interactive feature, the use of smartphones by children and adolescents suggests us that families as different professionals should play protective and active role with them through dialogues and discussions / É sabido que a adesão e incorporação das Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação (TICs) alteraram no mundo todo, os padrões de comportamento, relacionamento pessoal e familiar.

Mediální výchova v rodině / Media educationin the family

Cigánková, Klára January 2012 (has links)
The master thesis "Media education in the family" discusses media education strategies of parents, or, in other words, parental mediation. This discussion is important because the family, in addition to the school system, is largely responsible for influencing the media literacy of children. The theoretical section of this thesis sums up how this topic was processed in foreign and Czech studies, and describes the main characteristics of parental mediation. Media education strategies of parents are also assessed in connection with the socialization of the child, and with the education and communication styles in family. Frequently, studies describe three types of parental mediation, which are: active mediation, restrictive mediation and social co-viewing. Although these types of mediation were defined mostly in connection with the viewing of television programs, it is possible to transfer these types, with small changes, on to other media, including the internet. The practical part of this thesis contains a qualitative analysis of in-depth interviews with parents who have children between the ages of 12 and 15. The goal of this analysis was to find out what parents think of the relationship between children and media, which strategies of parental mediation they are using, and which conditions and...

Does Parental Mediation of Media Influence Child Outcomes? A Meta-Analysis on Media Time, Content, Aggression, Substance Use, Sexual Behavior, and Health Outcomes

Collier, Kevin Matthew 01 May 2015 (has links)
As the world evolves into a media saturated environment, the focus of many studies have been the negative effects of media on children and adolescents. For at least the past two decades, researchers have explored how parental involvement in their child's media consumption can influence child outcomes. Parental mediation of media includes restrictive mediation, active mediation, and co-viewing. Three meta-analyses, one for each type of mediation, reviewed a total of 69 studies. Each analysis assessed the effectiveness of parental mediation of media on five pertinent child outcomes: media use, aggression, substance use, sexual behavior, and negative health outcomes. The overall results indicated small, but significant relationships between child outcomes and restrictive mediation (r+ = .07), active mediation (r+ = .01), and co-viewing (r+ = .09). Effects on certain child outcomes were stronger than others. Parents have the ability to mitigate some of the adverse effects through parental mediation of media by creating rules for media use: discussing character's choices and central themes and consuming media together. Finally, several gaps in the existing literature were identified and discussed.

Rodiče a marketingové formy cílené na děti: povědomí, postoje a výchovné přístupy / Parents and marketing forms targeted at children: awareness, attitudes and educational approaches

Šuvadová, Kristína January 2019 (has links)
The master thesis "Parents and marketing forms targeted at children: awareness, attitudes and educational approaches" describes marketing and advertisement methods that aims towards children and also parental perception of these methods. The children's segment is quite popular in the marketing industry, mainly because young consumption behaviour is easily affected. Parents play a big role in influencing children's perception, which is why I chose to focus on parents as well. Parents need to know about these advertisement and marketing's forms if they want to influence their children in a correct way. The theoretical part of the thesis describes characteristics of media education in the family, marketing forms aimed on children, approaches and strategies of parents in media education and also the reaction of children to the given advertising forms. The practical part discusses the description of the chosen research technique, namely qualitative research consisting of semi-structured in-depth interviews. The aim of these in-depth interviews was to find out the level of orientation of preschool children in the child-targeted marketing forms. The goal was to establish their attitudes towards these advertising forms and describe how they approach this area in the education of their children. Negative...

Dítě jako aktivní uživatel internetu a sféra rodičovského dohledu / A Child as an Active Internet User and the Sphere of Parental Surveillance

Bláhová, Barbora January 2018 (has links)
My diploma thesis deals with the phenomenon of the internet and parents' supervision, particularly how parents supervise their children who are the active users of the Internet. This paper is divided into a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is further divided into two sections - one that looks at supervision and mediating strategies and other one that analyses the internet. Both those theoretical chapters explore their subjects with relation to children as the agents. The practical part of my dissertation is a qualitative research in form of interviews, which helps to understand the phenomenon from the parents' position.

[pt] EU SOU MÃE, NÃO SOU PROFESSORA: MEDIAÇÃO FAMILIAR NO ENSINO REMOTO DURANTE A PANDEMIA DE COVID-19 / [en] I M A MOTHER, I M NOT A TEACHER: PARENTAL MEDIATION IN REMOTE EDUCATION DURING A COVID-19 PANDEMIC

ANA LUIZA HONORATO DE SALES 21 May 2021 (has links)
[en] The object of study of this master dissertation were parental mediations of children s relationship with the school remote activities during the COVID-19 pandemic quarantine. Through exploratory research, the objective was to identify parents perceptions of such activities, their main challenges, the mediat ion strategies adopted and potential learning experiences. The data comprised 207 responses to a virtual questionnaire and 41 interviews with parents of children enrolled from 1st to 3rd grades of Elementary School, living in the metropolitan area of Rio de Janeiro. The main theoretical references included the concept of mediation in the Vygotskian perspective, studies on the monitoring of homework by the family, and recent research on access to remote educational activities allowed by current media. Research data were also considered on educational inequalities associated with the provision of remote education during the pandemic. As its main results, the mediators, mostly mothers, biggest difficulties were: to guarantee children s motivation to carry out the activities, to be available to help them, pointing out their pedagogical limitations to explain curricular contents. The potential of remote education was the greater proximity between family and child, especially in school matters. The different strategies adopted by mediators in children s remote education were considered favorable experiences to reflect on the role of school.

Výzkum publika: mediální politika na mateřské/rodičovské dovolené / Audience research: usage of media during maternal/paternal leave

Veličková, Markéta January 2015 (has links)
A media policy on maternity leave is the subject matter of the thesis, which presents the results of a qualitative research of an audience by the grounded theory method. The analysis of various causes, conditions, contexts, strategies and consequences of media policies of individual speakers is based on the use of semi-structured interviews. The media usage on maternity leave is a complex of attitudes not only of the mother but also of the father who can be in agreement with his partner in one household but in conflict in another household. Influences of parents childhood or of the nearest neighborhood is continuously reflected in individual strategies of the media policy. A professional status of the mother and her needs offered by the media also plays a significant role. Last but not least, there is a conflict between mothers` own comfort when the media take over the role of a nanny and are a vital member of the household, and a childcare when the mother more or less regulates the role of the media in the early years of a child's life on the basis of her own experience, in other words to a reasonable degree.
