No. of bitstreams: 1 arquivototal.pdf: 3334576 bytes, checksum: 1f1516046f11c6008a012b55363f59af (MD5) Previous issue date: 2011-05-05 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / The studies of musical practices developed in urban contexts have been gaining in recent decades, more and more space in ethnomusicological research and point to ample opportunities for research and important contributions, in relation to knowledge of the various directories and their producers in many aspects. This work proposes a study on the musical performance of Quartinha Zabumbeiro, based on the concept of performance as event and process, where they are considered not only the musicians performing, but the general context, involving the audience, the environment and the results of interaction among participants. Considering the general objective to examine and understand the features of the musical performance of Quartinha, the work is the cornerstone theoretical and methodological foundations of ethnomusicology and has significant contributions of musicology, organology, anthropology and ethnography. As data collecting instruments were used in literature, participant observation, the semi-structured interview, in addition to audio recordings, video and photography; these instruments were designed in order to tailor them to the needs of the survey, and were fundamental to the results obtained in the work. Even considering the general aspects of performance in the Quartinha various sets that have participated, with emphasis on groups of forró, the text highlights its performance in the work of the musician Santanna. From the analysis, we observed that the musical performance of Closet characterized by observation of other musicians, especially Zabumbeiros, the development of collective practice, inventiveness, and the construction of a personal style that has been socially recognized along its trajectory.

Pencils of Light: Family, Photography, and Performance

Darnell, Amy Lynn 01 May 2009 (has links)
This study examines the ways in which the photograph is an act of performance. Not only does the photograph serve as a photograph for its audience, the photograph's viewer uses the photograph to perform for his or herself. This relationship between photograph and viewer is most often explored within the family unit. Ritualized family performances are those events where a family narrative is written photographically. This study explores this family dynamic of photography and performance through autobiographic reference to the author's own familial performances when her parents died in 2002 and 2003, respectively. Through the creation and public performance of her narratives surrounding the performances of grief that surrounded her family photographs, the author argues for the public creation of a three-dimensional memory, compared to the two-dimensional memory of the traditional photograph.

Contribution à la compréhension des liens entre microstructure et propriétés tribologiques d’aciers inoxydables haute dureté après traitements de surface / Contribution hunderstanding the Relationship between Microstructure and Tribological Properties of High Hardness Stainless Steel after Surface Treatments

Silva santos, Edson thiago 04 June 2015 (has links)
Aeronautics industrials gathered thought MEKINOX project ("Mécanique Inoxydable") in order to develop the use of different stainless steels grades, because both their high strength and corrosion resistance. However, these steels are deemed sensitive to friction. In this context, this thesis is dedicated firstly to study the effect of different thermal and surface treatments on the microstructure of stainless steels to improve their ability to friction. Different hardening mechanisms were observed: precipitation, phase change and solid solution. Secondly, we have implemented an experimental approach for comparing the response of the various materials pairs under extreme sliding and rolling contact. These tests have allowed us to characterize the friction coefficient evolution and classify the different metallurgical materials and treatments according to their wear resistance. Thirdly we have characterized the different types of damage occurring at surface and in the subsurface. Finally, the use of EBSD allowed us to characterize the plastic deformation in the subsurface and to correlate the value HAGB (High Angle Grains Boundaries) density with the wear resistance of the different metallurgical materials and treatments of the examined steels.

Impact de la mesure de performance dans la régulation économique des aéroports / Impact of performance measurement in economic regulation of airports

Pignon, Vincent 03 February 2015 (has links)
Airport management has undergone profound changes in the last thirty years. Indeed, air traffic strong growth issues have gradually led to a goal of qualitative improvement. Besides, the arrival of new private management methods and public-private partnerships has strengthened the need for transparency. In this context, the regulators became strongly responsible for the organization of airports. They should ensure that public service objectives are taken into account, especially in their new qualitative component and must inform the passengers. However, managing airports is complicated for regulators due to several factors. Indeed, imbalance of information between the regulator and the airport manager, existence of oligopoly or even natural monopoly are elements that weaken the position of the regulator. In light of the contracts theory, the analysis of international models shows that the limits of the competitive mechanism force us to consider a further regulation for airports than for other public services. The performance measurement through indicators based on financial and extra- financial results is a tool to improve the control of airports management by regulators. By introducing mechanisms for flow of information, it helps to understand the evolution of each service, but also to compare them. The incentive for pseudo-competition can be applied effectively, regardless of the mode of management. The indicators will also be used to determine the quality expected in the pre-contractual phase, and to monitor and pilot the results of the services during the implementation phase. Finally, they allow communication to customers, making more visible the improvement of the services, which often remain hidden.

Performance estimation of wireless networks using traffic generation and monitoring on a mobile device.

Tiemeni, Ghislaine Livie Ngangom January 2015 (has links)
Masters of Science / In this study, a traffic generator software package namely MTGawn was developed to run packet generation and evaluation on a mobile device. The call generating software system is able to: simulate voice over Internet protocol calls as well as user datagram protocol and transmission control protocol between mobile phones over a wireless network and analyse network data similar to computer-based network monitoring tools such as Iperf and D-ITG but is self-contained on a mobile device. This entailed porting a ‘stripped down’ version of a packet generation and monitoring system with functionality as found in open source tools for a mobile platform. This mobile system is able to generate and monitor traffic over any network interface on a mobile device, and calculate the standard quality of service metrics. The tool was compared to a computer–based tool namely distributed Internet traffic generator (D-ITG) in the same environment and, in most cases, MTGawn reported comparable results to D-ITG. The important motivation for this software was to ease feasibility testing and monitoring in the field by using an affordable and rechargeable technology such as a mobile device. The system was tested in a testbed and can be used in rural areas where a mobile device is more suitable than a PC or laptop. The main challenge was to port and adapt an open source packet generator to an Android platform and to provide a suitable touchscreen interface for the tool.
