Fyzikální fenomén jako architektonická tvůrčí metoda / Physical Phenomenon as a Creative Method in Architecture

Buryová, Tereza January 2017 (has links)
Cellular_ polar research station Antarctica is the driest, the busiest and most extensive place on Earth, half-year-shrouded. People still live here. They set up the research stations in which they live and work. In these extreme climatic conditions, the station originates and disappears due to natural behaving. Stations provide researchers with safety and space for research, including comfort. They are built in different ways and provide different comforts, according to technological and transport options.

Jaroslavice – sídlo v krajině / Jaroslavice – place in the landscape

Mrlinová, Lucie January 2018 (has links)
South Moravia has a good quality soil. Changing climatic conditions and an unhealthy human approach result in drought and soil erosion. Soil, like our nutritionist, is very rare. Therefore, in my work I deal with the proposal of a research institute for soil protection, which I place on the site of a former manor court in Jaroslavice. The Institute consists of three buildings that define a common yard. The location of the complex complies with the direct connection to the adjacent experimental field. Jaroslavice, as a municipality in the warmest and driest area in the Czech Republic, is ideal for research.

Radnice Brno – Sever / New town hall for the district Brno-North

Wojnar, Marek January 2015 (has links)
THE TOWN HALL BRNO – SEVER The project describes the design of a new town hall in the new proposed urban structure on the site of a dilapidated complex of military barracks in Brno in Cerna Pole. It derives the mass of the town hall from the proposed urban structure in an exposed corner of the area. Its volume solution reflects the openness and transparency of the town hall building, its structural and material solution speaks about social responsibility and the intention to "lead by example".

Radnice Brno – Sever / New town hall for the district Brno-North

Franců, Jan January 2015 (has links)
The project design a city town hall for Brno north on the site of today's military barracks. Classical symmetry of the composition of the original building dominates the space above the terrain configuration. The buildings are oriented towards the slope and determine the nature of space. In this constellation any classical building would disturb this order. The volume of the building must be very subtle to preserve the harmony of the original composition. The main volume of the building is located below the surface of the square, however, the building is open towards most exposed corner. Sloping slab fall line is aiming to the city center and Špilberk Castle. The inclination is only 8 degrees to allow safe movement and to preserve the original space. The building preserves the street lines of surrounding blocks, but sloped slab exceeds the corner across the street line to draw attention. Parts of the building, requiring daylight had to be placed above the ground, but to preserve the original space the new volume must be subtle.

Radnice Brno – Sever / New town hall for the district Brno-North

Fila, Radek January 2015 (has links)
The main architectural motif of the contrast vertical and horizontal. Vertical - a tower that will house the town hall, the dominant element in the area, and therefore represents well the importance of the city hall within the district. This importance is enhanced by the location of the tower on the corner. Calm horizontal volume cultural center follows the street line and thus defines a new public spaces, including a new town hall square. The unifying element of the two buildings is a double facade of white aluminum fins.

Development of Pole Impact Testing at Multiple Vehicle Side Locations As Applied To The Ford Taurus Structural Platform

Warner, Mark Halford 24 November 2004 (has links) (PDF)
A test method was developed whereby repeated pole impacts could be performed at multiple locations per test vehicle, allowing a comparison of energy and crush relationships. Testing was performed on vehicles moving laterally into a 12.75 inch diameter rigid pole barrier. Crush energy absorption characteristics at the different locations were analyzed, and the results compared to test data from broad moving barrier crashes and available crash tests with similar pole impacts. The research documents the crush stiffness characteristics for narrow impacts at various points on the side of the Taurus vehicle platform. Factors encountered during the research include the importance of rotational energy accounting and uncertainties related to crush energy related to induced deformation. The findings show that the front axle and A-pillar regions are much stiffer than the CG and B-pillar areas to narrow rigid pole impact. The central CG region produced stiffness relations that correspond well with published broad-impact data when the effective crush width was assumed to be roughly three times the pole diameter. Results of this research sustain the theory that stiffness properties vary significantly along the side of a vehicle. Though not practical as a tool in every circumstance, the multiple impact location technique should be considered when side impact crush energy absorption characteristics are key to the outcome of an accident reconstruction.

Characterization Of Impact Damage And Fiber Reinforced Polymer Repair Systems For Metallic Utility Poles

Johnson, Cara 01 January 2013 (has links)
Previous studies have demonstrated that the behavior of fiber reinforced polymers (FRPs) bonded to metallic utility poles are governed by the following failure modes; yielding of the metallic substrate, FRP tensile rupture, FRP compressive buckling, and debonding of FRP from the substrate. Therefore, an in situ method can be devised for the repair of utility poles, light poles, and mast arms that returns the poles to their original service strength. This thesis investigates the effect of damage due to vehicular impact on metallic poles, and the effectiveness of externally-bonded FRP repair systems in restoring their capacity. Damage is simulated experimentally by rapid, localized load application to pole sections, creating dents ranging in depth from 5 to 45% of the outer diameter. Four FRP composite repair systems were selected for characterization and investigation due to their mechanical properties, ability to balance the system failure modes, and installation effectiveness. Bending tests are conducted on dented utility poles, both unrepaired and repaired. Nonlinear finite element models of dented and repaired pole bending behavior are developed in MSC.Marc. These models show good agreement with experimental results, and can be used to predict behavior of full-scale repair system. A relationship between dent depth and reduced pole capacity is developed, and FRP repair system recommendations are presented
