Interakce architektury a geomagnetického pole / Interaction of architecture with geomagnetic fieldHolá, Magda Unknown Date (has links)
With the application of new technological trends and principles of scientific research in general, places on environmental influences (everything what surrounds human - building interior and exterior materials, urban areas) and also with sustainable development and ecology, etc., and on health and psychological well-being humans and thus puts on architecture and building entirely new demands on the application of new principles. Due to global climate change, which recently published the official report of the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), are placed on reducing the emissions into the atmosphere greater demands on. If architects previously were requested by the client, building with optimal solutions and functional expression of aesthetic quality, so now in addition to increasing demand on building´s solution with low power consumption using environmentally friendly materials from renewable resources and completely satisfying idea of sustainable development. Global societal trends is reverting to the traditional approaches to creating an environment (the application of natural materials, Feng Shui, Building Biology, etc.). The growing trend in today's society on issues of sustainable development, conservation of natural conditions, examining the effects of construction on human health and psychological well-being, which the aims bring together experts seemingly unrelated fields such as geophysics, medicine, architecture, civil engineering, etc., and their findings, according to aspects of the disciplines draw general rules of healthy living. Emerging and still evolving field aims to examine the relationship between man and his environment. The logical starting point is therefore in the context of examining the structure of the first dwelling. Buildings where people spend at least one third of their life. Building, whose location, orientation, mass, materials used in building itself as well as those that surround people in the interior, and many others will affect the physical and physiological action. Not only health but also mental well-being of man is as much determined by a whole range of relationships and linkages. Structural system guidelines for healthy living is the main reason of the work, clear what assumptions we have taken into account in the design and how it specifically relates to a quality place to rest – the Geomagnetic field is one of the base point, which lead to healthy living. Interaction of architecture and geomagnetic field and their values are processed in the evaluation system. It would lead to clarification of the relationship between the occurrence of these anomalies and building materials, construction, site selection for construction of buildings and other solutions. I will desribing the relationship between human´s health and the incidence of these artificial or natural anomalies at the same time.

Evaluation of DC Fault Current in Grid Connected Converters in HVDC StationsSinhaRoy, Soham January 2022 (has links)
The main circuit equipment in an HVDC station must be rated for continuous operation as well as for stresses during ground faults and other short circuits. The component impedances are thus selected for proper operation during both continuous operation and short circuit events. Normally, Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) simulations are performed for the short circuit current ratings, which can leadto time consuming iterations for the optimization of impedance values. Hence, sufficiently correct and handy formulas are useful. For that reason, in this research work, firstly, a thorough literature study is done to gain a deep understanding of the modular multilevel converter (MMC) and its behaviour after aDC pole-to-pole short circuit fault. Two associated simulation models are designed in PSCAD/EMTDC simulation software. The focus of this thesis is on DC pole-topoleshort circuit in Symmetric Monopole HVDC VSC Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC). The desired analytical expression for the steady state fault current is determined byusing mesh analysis and also by applying KCL and it is verified by doing a set of simulations in PSCAD. A detailed sensitivity study has been done in the PSCAD simulation software to understand the influence of the AC converter reactor inductance and the DC smoothing reactor inductance on the steady state as well as peak fault current respectively. From the sensitivity study, the simulated values of peak factor have been obtained. By means of the ratio in between DC side inductance (L_DC) and AC side inductance (L_AC), and by performing a number of calculations, the desired expression for the peak factor is derived. As a result, the peak fault current can be calculated. The calculated value of the peak fault current from the derived formula is compared to the simulated value and validated. An over-estimation is considered for the rating of the equipment. Along with that, the analysis of the effect of impedances of equipment and systems are done and also verified, to better judge the accuracy of the result. In the result, it is found that, the error margin obtained from the derived analytical expression for the steady state value is within 2% of the PSCAD simulated value, which means the error can be safely ignored. Similarly, the value obtained from the derived formula for the peak fault current is within 4% over-estimation margin of the PSCAD simulated value, which is quite good in terms of cost estimation for the rating of the components.

[pt] A GENTE CONTINUA MERECENDO RESPEITO POR FAZER POLE DANCE: UMA ANÁLISE DISCURSIVA DE ESTIGMAS E IDENTIDADES EM NARRATIVAS DE MULHERES POLE DANCERS / [en] WE CONTINUE TO DESERVE RESPECT FOR DOING POLE DANCE: A DISCURSIVE ANALYSIS OF STIGMAS AND IDENTITIES IN NARRATIVES OF FEMALE POLE DANCERSLORENA ARAUJO ALVES 27 January 2022 (has links)
[en] This research aims to create intelligibilities about the pole dancing pratice through the investigation of narrative discourses produced by women from this dance-sport community. Situated in the area of Contemporary Applied Linguistics (MOITA LOPES, 2006; FABRÍCIO 2006), the study is dedicated to the interpretation of meanings created in oral narratives (LABOV, 1972; BASTOS, 2005) told by pole dancers, in order to understand the emergence of stigmas (GOFFMAN, [1963] 2004) and the construction of identities (MOITA LOPES, 2002, HALL, 2005) related to the practitioners and the activity itself. The theoretical architecture is based on a socio-constructionist perspective of narratives (BASTOS; BIAR, 2015) and identities (MOITA LOPES, 2001) for the analysis of the evaluative discursive practice (LINDE, 1997; THOMPSON; ALBA-JUEZ, 2014) which brings up stigmas and resignifications of the pole dancing practice. The methodology is aligned with the qualitative research paradigm (DENZIN; LINCOLN, 2006) and the corpus was generated through interviews with learners and teachers from the pole dance studio where I practice pole dancing, located in the south zone of Rio de Janeiro. The microdiscursive analysis is based on the Appraisal System (MARTIN, 2001; MARTIN; WHITE, 2005), part of the Sistemic-Functional Linguistics theory (HALLIDAY, 1994; EGGINS, 2004), for the observation of evaluative lexicogrammatical instances which contributed to the discursive construction of stigmas and identities in the narratives shared. The analysis suggests that participants (re)constructed their identities in relation to their pole dancing experiences, reflecting upon prejudice issues and the pole dancing practice itself. The pole dancers seemed to recognize and disapprove the stigmatization that negatively labels them and discredits the activity they practice, generating counter-discourses of resistance and resignification of pole dancing. Thus, in general, the dancers-athletes constructed pole dancing positively as a transformative practice which provides them with self-awareness, liberation, resilience, awakening of strengths, empowerment and many other learnings.

Determination of Single Pole Breaker Reclose Time and System Performance Using Real Time SimulationGodavarthi, Venkata Sridivya 19 May 2017 (has links)
This thesis investigates single pole reclosing in series capacitor compensated line. An algorithm is developed to determine the optimal dead time required for single pole reclose of circuit breakers and to reduce the randomness of reclosing time. The algorithm considers conditions of system, fault, voltage zero crossing, arc, and IEEE C37.104-2012 standard de-ionization time. This study also addresses difficulties of single pole reclose operation such as over-voltages at the line, secondary arc extinguishing time, dead time, over-voltages across the series capacitor, and negative sequence current. The system performance is evaluated using a set of metrics based on those operation difficulties. Methods used in the industry such as shunt reactor with the neutral reactor, surge arrester, and MOV are modelled and simulated to capture their effect on the operation difficulties. Comparative analysis is made to rank the effectiveness of each element against difficulties in operating single pole reclosing of circuit breakers.

Development of a Rigid Body Computational Model for Investigation of Wrist BiomechanicsMajors, Benjamin 16 December 2010 (has links)
The wrist is one of the most complex joints in the human body. As such, the wrist joint is difficult to model due to the number of bones involved and its intricate soft tissue interactions. Many studies have attempted modeling the wrist previously; however, the majority of these studies simplify the joint into two-dimensions or idealized mechanical joints to reduce the complexity of the simulation. While these approaches still yield valuable information, the omission of a third-dimension or geometry defined movements limits the models’ usefulness in predicting joint function under non-idealized conditions. Therefore, the goal of this study was to develop a computational model of the wrist joint complex using commercially available software, whereby joint motion and behavior is dictated by highly accurate three-dimensional articular contact, ligamentous constraints, muscle loads, and external perturbations only. As such, a computational model of the human wrist was created using computed tomography (CT) images of a cadaver right upper extremity. Commercially available medical imaging software and three-dimensional computer aided design (CAD) software were used to reconstruct the osteoarticular surfaces and accurately add soft tissue constraints, as well as calculate kinematic motion simulations. The model was able to reproduce physiologic motion including flexion/extension and radial/ulnar deviation. Validation of the model was achieved by comparing predicted results from the model to the results of a published cadaveric experiment that analyzed wrist function under effects of various surgical procedures. The model was used to replicate the exact testing conditions prescribed for the experiment, and the model was able to accurately reproduce the trends and, in many instances, the magnitudes of the range of motion measurements in the study. Furthermore, the model can now be used to predict the magnitudes for the joint contact forces within the wrist as well as the tension developed in ligaments in hopes locating potential areas of concern after these surgical procedures have been conducted, including further development of arthritis in the wrist and ligament breakdown.

Inhumation et baraka : La tombe du saint dans la ville de l’Occident musulman au Moyen-Âge (XIIe-XVe siècle) / Burial and baraka the tomb of the saint in the town of the Western Islamic world during the Middle Ages (XIIth-XVth century)Tuil, Bulle 12 October 2011 (has links)
Since the fi rst publications dated from colonial times, which mostly sought to show its folk and endemic character, the cult of saints in North Africa has been the subject of numerous studies both dealing with its origins as itsdiachronic evolution. The fi rst stage of development that goes from the twelfth to the fi fteenth century is well known. However, this worship is committed to the graves of revered fi gures and there have been no studies specifi cally focusingon their materiality. This research then intends to reconstruct the building stages of real poles of devotion around theholy tombs whose climax is reached during the fourteenth century. This approach is in line with archaeology of the lost, and therefore focuses on the analysis of written sources in order to approach a physical reality, otherwise unattainable. The fi rst step is formal. The point is to understand what is erected over the tombs of the saints and for whatpurposes, in a chronological way. The constitution of shrines is subsequently considered in its social context, beforeanalysing how these burials inscribe themselves in a given space, and even participate in a symbolic writing of the city’sterritory. The set up of these funerary poles of devotion is not an isolated phenomenon, since it can be seen across the dāral-Islām. The Maghreb is therefore fully inscribed in the history of medieval religious architecture of the Muslim world.
