Ricardo Lenin Alfredo, Falla Carrillo January 2015 (has links)

A Study of David Popper's Contribution to Cello Techniques.

Shih, Fan-chieh 05 February 2008 (has links)
The late nineteenth century is a period when cello saw rapid development. Growing up in this environment, David Popper, a cellist and a composer, dedicated to the prevalence of cello. Besides playing cello, he created many popular cello pieces and etudes Op.73 and Op.76. These works and etudes not only have a great influence on the cello performance in the late nineteenth century but also play a key role in modern cello development. Therefore I will explore the importance of Popper and the influence of his works by analyzing his works and etudes and surveying various analyses of comments on his etudes. The thesis consists of two chapters, including the introduction and conclusion. The chapter one discusses the biography and the style of his composition. Besides introducing its style, it also mentions that his style and techniques are close to Franco-Belgian school. Chapter two focuses on the analysis of his three etudes and other solo pieces, making a comparison with another two references. In the end, it offers cello works in different periods with Popper¡¦s Op.73 for practice, in order to see the applicability of Popper¡¦s etudes. From analyzing Popper¡¦s works, it shows that fingering and bowing are slightly different between now and the end of the nineteenth century since all of his etudes mark fingering and bowing. It provides references for performer while choosing etudes and raises the status of Popper in the development of cello.

Our theses is that Popper (1902 1994), exponent of epistemology and philosophy of science, offers contributions aimed at the best form of use and improving language comprehension. Differently from other authors, he doesn t focus the issue on a single book, he inserts it in reviews and pronouncements, mostly associated with the theory of knowledge and related themes. So, our research activity constitutes in a theoretical gold-digging . Since the thirties, Popper adopts the kantian objectivity while guided by readings, oral and written presentations. However, it is emphasized that Popper considering, preserving and bringing to the agenda crucial problems to the human being, sustains the beginning of all rational discussion based in cosmology. Meaning, that from the questions related to the universe and the world, above all its beginning, the others are derived. In this context, we highlight the integrated conception of knowledge, in which rationalism, empiricism and metaphysical contents are dependent and complementary. His indeterministic conception of the world articulates itself with a pluralistic theses of reality: the three worlds, the material, the subjective and the objective world are real and interact linguistically. The innovation lies in the reciprocity between these worlds, which takes place therefore in the language. In the difference of the philosophy of language currently, Popper abstains himself from verifying the meaning, the definitions and the evolution (or involution) of terms. He entails to analyze the language in a way as to privilege its functions, uses, detection of mistakes and enunciative depuration, making it, therefore, reflected and enhanced. He notes that current scientific knowledge brings in it sentential orders demands, which philosophy can t escape. The work shows that Popper indicates that language in the uncontrollable instance and it is favorable to critical debate, besides being the instrument relevant to the correct inferences, denials, definitions, sentential rearrangements, favorable, finally, to the expansion of what man knows or modestly thinks to know about himself and the world presently tripartite and multi-relational.

Etude des manganites Ruddlesden-Popper RExA2-xMnO4 (RE : La, Nd et A : Sr, Ca) en vue de leur application en tant que matériaux d´électrode de pile à combustible à oxide solide (SOFC) / Study of Ruddlesden-Popper manganites RExA2-xMnO4 (RE : La, Nd and A : Sr, Ca) with potential application as electrode materials in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC)

Sandoval Rincón, Mónica Viviana 13 October 2017 (has links)
The Ruddlesden Popper RExA2-xMnO4 (RE: La, Nd and A: Sr, Ca) have been studied as electrode materials for symmetrical Solid Oxide Fuel Cells. The LaxSr2-xMnO4±δ (x=0.25, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6), NdxSr2-xMnO4±δ (x=0.4, 0.5) and NdxCa2-xMnO4±δ (x=0.25, 0.4, 0.5) were successfully synthesized. The RExSr2-xMnO4±δ materials (RE: La, Nd) are stable in reducing atmosphere with electrolyte-compatible TECs. In situ HT-NPD of La0.5Sr1.5MnO4±δ (L5S15M), under flowing hydrogen, reveals formation of oxide-ion vacancies on the equatorial sites of the perovskite layer. High electrical conductivities were obtained (35.6 S cm−1 in air and 1.9 S cm−1 in H2/Ar). Electrochemical properties of L5S15M electrode were investigated by EIS. The influence of both sintering temperature and electrode composition on the electrochemical performance was studied in both cathode and anode atmosphere. For oxygen reduction, the electron transfer between the electrode and oxygen, and the incorporation of oxygen ions into the electrode are the main rate-limiting steps. Increasing the sintering temperature to 1250°C leads to Sr accumulation at the GDC/YSZ interface. For hydrogen oxidation, charge transfer at the electrode/electrolyte interface, dissociative adsorption and surface diffusion were the limiting steps. The best compromise between sintering temperature and composition is reached for pure L5S15M electrode sintered at 1150 °C. Finally, the results extracted from EIS measurements allowed understanding the nature of processes taking place within the electrode, proposing that the electrochemical behavior of L5S15M could be improved with modification of the electrode’s surface.
