Ambos os conceitos ¿ de Utopia e de Paidéia ¿ são apontados como agentes de emancipação e de potencialização da Educação / Abstract: The Greek enlightenment gave to world one of the fundamental concepts of the Philosophy of the Education: the Paidéia. The present work examines the different aspects involved in it. As the Greeks had conceived it in the beginning of its civilization, and the posterior appropriations that it had made one of the permanent concepts in the slow and long evolution of the occidental educational thought. With the advent of Christianity, we had the Paidéia Christi, that tried to place the inherent potentiality of this concept to the service of religion. In the XVIII Century, in Germany, under the form of Bildung, the concept reappears, now, already, to serve other interests and ideologies, which also aids us to best interpret the proper German history. Under the sign of the clarification, and the modern rationality, the Paidéia, that would have to serve to free the human being of its minority, it becomes an instrumental and an empty concept and in the contemporaneousness it has only served to keep the status quo. It is concluded pointing to the Utopia, as energy to impel for the best possible, allied to a Critical Paidéia that needs to be retaken to give objective, orientation and purpose to the education that today is practizied. Both the concepts - of Utopia and Paidéia - are pointed as agents of emancipation and potencialization of the Education / Doutorado / Filosofia da Educação / Doutor em Educação
