Innovation in China : the contribution of Sino-Western joint venturesLiu, Li January 2011 (has links)
Since China embraced the “Open Door” policy in 1978, innovation has been an increasingly important factor for the Chinese economy. China is now the third largest country in the world league table of patent applications. China has also received large amounts of foreign direct investment, much of it from major Western innovative companies. In the earlier years of the Open Door policy, much of the involvement of Western companies was through joint ventures. International joint ventures are still important, and it is believed have substantially enhanced China's innovative capability. It is the contention of this research that there is a direct correlation between the arrivals of Sino-Western JVs and China's increased innovation capabilities. This is an important area of study as China moves towards becoming a developed economy. The gap in research at present is in applying innovation theory to China and to JVs. The thesis explores the contribution of Sino-Western JVs to the development of China's innovative capabilities. A model of the innovation process is developed, and eight important factors that are considered to enhance a company's innovative capacity, are derived from the model. The factors, expressed as propositions, are: 1: Becoming part of a wide innovative network in its industry 2: Taking part in an open innovation system in its industry 3: Relating closely to universities, and particularly their research laboratories 4: Relating closely to research institutions 5: Developing a social atmosphere conducive to innovation 6: Developing a strong strategic planning system with innovation as a focus 7: Having innovation as a primary objective of both partners at the outset of the joint venture 8: Focusing on developing intellectual property To investigate whether these propositions were accepted by Sino-Western joint ventures, 40 semi-structured interviews were conducted in ten international (Sino-western) joint ventures in China. In general the interviews provided support for the propositions. However, some reservations were expressed. Executives were reluctant to engage in open (collaborative) innovation, preferring to seek patents for developed intellectual property. They also perceived the main objective of the Western partners to be commercial success rather than innovation, although the Chinese partners were very much innovation-orientated. The research contributes to our understanding of the contribution of Sino-western JVs to the innovative capability of Chinese companies, and provides support for most of the propositions identified in the literature. Respondents remarked that most of the propositions would apply also to self-standing companies in China, and suggested that joint ventures could stimulate innovation in indigenous Chinese companies. In addition to providing a historical overview of the development of innovation in China, developing an innovation process model and testing it in the Chinese context, the thesis makes important policy and practical recommendations to Chinese organizations.

Retai diegiamos organizacinės veiklos inovacijos bei technologinio proceso inovacijos.

Rullstolsanpassat utegym i Karlstad kommun : Ett underlag skapat utifrån ett ergonomiskt perspektiv följande designprocessens grundpelare / Wheelchair accessible outdoor gym located in Karlstad municipality : The foundation for creating an outdoor gym from an ergonomic perspective following the design processNässén, Viktor January 2015 (has links)
The report deals with the subject of an outdoor gym located in Karlstad adapted and accessible for wheelchair using individuals. The work is performed within the course degree project for degree of Bachelor of Science in Innovation and design engineering, MSGC12 at the faculty of health, nature and engineering science at Karlstad University. The work has taken place at Karlstad University in the spring in 2014. Karlstad municipality has seen a need for exercise equipment in an outdoor environment that is accessible to wheelchair users. In today’s outdoor gyms wheelchair are users shut out. This is due to the face that the equipment is not adjusted accordingly. From a user perspective this is considered to be inadequate training opportunities and has been the basis for the creation of the outdoor gym, adjusted for wheelchair users. Based on the requirements from the client's point of view, data collection, interviews and observations a product specification was developed. The specification covers the main requirements and other necessary requirements for the site to function as a meeting place with focus on training for wheelchair users. The specification includes demands such as ease of use, durability and safety. Concept development has followed the design process used in the context of innovation, technology and design. During the development process sketches and CAD was used as means to easily simulate designs and solutions to problems. The concept generation process yielded a score of nineteen different solutions which is subsequently evaluated using elimination and evaluation matrix. Diagrams for how well each concept met the required conditions were used to evaluate in its entirety. The final concept is an outdoor gym which provides the opportunity for wheelchair users to work-out and preform rehabilitation exercises. The facility is equipped with five machines adjusted for wheelchair users which offer comprehensive training. Exercise equipment is intended to be used by all individuals regardless of previous experience and knowledge of training. The machines allow the entire upper part of the body to be trained. The operation of the site is simple and the risk of injury is low.

Blockchain and Entrepreneurial Value Creation in the Textile IndustryBlomqvist, Ludvig January 2018 (has links)
This thesis examines a process of innovation within a Swedish early-stage start-up company in the textile industry. The thesis describes and analyzes the case company’s intentions to create entrepreneurial value by reconfiguring its supply chain as one of its resources. Theories of dynamic capabilities, entrepreneurial value creation and supply chain management are applied for analysis of the case company’s process of investigating how Blockchain technology can be applied to the company’s supply chain to create and enhance value for the company, its customers and suppliers. Topics of digitalization, Blockchain technology, supply chain management, entrepreneurial value creation and dynamic capabilities are covered as part of the discourse. The work in this thesis is qualitative and explorative and based on the study of one case company and its quest for creating entrepreneurial value by reconfiguring its supply chain. The study explores several potential ways for how entrepreneurial value can be created through process of innovation, e.g., by the application of Blockchain to a company’s supply chain. Although Blockchain has potential to create entrepreneurial value for the case company, it is not possible to predict if the benefits outweigh the costs, if the project is feasible in practice, if it is suitable for one company to undertake the project on its own or if collaboration and alliances are the way forward.
