This thesis describes the methods and procedures used in designing production lines, focusing on the production line for machining of train wheels. The thesis also describes the basic types of railway wheels, their design and important design elements. It also deals with the complete manufacturing process of train wheel from material selection through the technological processes of forming, heat treatment, mechanical tests, machining and non-destructive testing and measuring. Suitable equipment for the construction of automatic lines for machining, inspection and measurement of train wheels is selected according to the specified parameters of the wheel types, manufacturing productivity and production shop dimensions, These devices include vertical machining center, single-purpose machine for grease outlet drilling, device for ultrasonic inspection, magnetic particle inspecton device, measuring station and train wheel balancing machine. Several variants of the production line including detailed specification of manipulation cycle times is created. These variants are mutually compared and evaluated to find the optimal solution.

The research is focused on the design and implementation of an integrated management of production for the manufacture of keys lock model, this model integrates the theory of constraints to solve bottlenecks and used some tools of lean manufacturing to eliminate waste that is generated in the processes that create bottlenecks. The purpose of applying the model is to improve the productivity of the manufacturing line lock keys, reducing costs by improving the efficiency of their processes that enable the company to be more competitive in the market.

Thesis of Master´s Studies, the 5th Year of Study, the School-year 2008/2009, The Institute of Manufacturing Technology, Department of Machining, FSI VUT Brno.The thesis deals with the project of manufacturing the part of the car body – the fifth door by deep draw technology. The material is zinc-coated sheet metal HX220YD EN 10292. Mechanical properties and suitability of the material are evaluated by mechanical tests. The structure of the material is evaluated by metalography scratch pattern. The analysis of draw process and manufacturability of the part is made by calculations and AutoForm software. The production line, necessary machinery and construction solution of draw tool for the manufacturing the part are determined. Last section deals with economical evaluation of the production.

The goal of this thesis was to devise appropriate improvements for the quality control tool JIDOKA used in Continental Automotive Systems Czech Republic s.r.o based in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm. First, three areas of concern requiring improvement pro-posals were identified. These were: visualization of the maximum amount of rejects, physical handling of rejects and documentation updates. This work comprises an introduction to the issue and the company, application principles of JIDOKA in Continental company and a description of the areas of concern. As a conclusion, solution proposals for given areas and their implementation are presented.

This Master's Thesis is focused on the design and control of a small-series production line, for the production of segmetal arches and plastic reductions. It is about the conversion from a semi-automatic line to a fully automatic line. The production line consists of an extruder, a cutting unit, a exhaust unit, three pressing machines and a manipulator. Every single machine has a custom control for which was selected a baseplate with microcontroler ATmega 128 and designed powerful part of inputs and outputs. There is a simple communication between the machines. Appropriate elements were used for conversion of every individual part of the production line. The whole system is programmed with software called AVR Studio4.

Discrete Event Simulation for Optimization of Codependent Assembly Lines / Discrete event simulation för optimering av komplexa produktionsflödenAcar, Delal, Tran, Hanna January 2022 (has links)
This study is conducted at Scania, a globally leading company that manufactures trucks and delivers transport solutions to customers around the globe. In this study, the end flow of the chassi manufacturing was mapped in order to identify and eliminate wastes and bottlenecks, with the help of lean principles and discrete event simulation (DES) software. The assembly line consists of a make-to-order production head line that sends out semi-finished trucks to the end flow. The end flow is thereby codependent on the output from the head line. A synchronized tacted flow would minimize the wait in the stations, which is considered a waste in production, and enhance quality of work as deviations become more visible. The complexity of the production system has however made the department disregard the usage and implementation of simulations tools for improvement and decision making. The aim of this study was to evaluate the applicability and feasibility of DES as a tool for waste elimination, to increase throughput in a complex system and for investigating a better ratio between the takt times of the codependent assembly lines. This was done by developing future scenarios with different configurations of the model, studying how the parameters' behavior change in DES. Recommendations for reaching more effective codependent assembly lines with the help of DES were developed, analyzing the benefits and challenges of using simulation solutions for future decision making. The study offered useful insights and practical guidelines for companies with complex codependent assembly lines, wanting to use DES to implement lean principles. Five different improvement scenarios were tested and it was concluded that an increased number of buffer spots would have the largest impact on the throughput. An optimized takt time for a maximized throughput was also possible to identify with an enumeration method with scenarios. The drawback of DES for complex codependent lines was found to be the inability to consider all surrounding factors such as safety, ergonomics, quality and communication, which makes it a less applicable tool for waste elimination. The benefit of the DES simulation was the ability to manage complexities such as; different takt times between lines; gaps that occur in the production because of trucks removed from the head line; the interplay of the various inflows merging; the additional time to receive trucks from the reparation department; and stop times that cause waiting time at the production line. It was therefore considered an applicable tool for deciding the takt time for codependent lines. / Denna studie är genomförd på Scania, ett globalt ledande företag som tillverkar lastbilar och levererar transportlösningar till kunder runt om i världen. I denna studie kartlades slutflödet av chassitillverkningen för att identifiera och eliminera slöserier och flaskhalsar, med hjälp av leanprinciper och Discrete Event Simulation (DES). Produktionslinan består av en make-to-order huvudlina som skickar ut halvfärdiga lastbilar till slutflödet. Slutflödet är därmed beroende av utflödet från huvudlinan. Ett mer synkroniserat taktat flöde skulle minimera väntetider på stationerna, vilket anses vara slöseri i produktionen, och förbättra kvaliteten på produkterna. Produktionssystemets komplexitet har dock fått avdelningen att bortse från användningen och implementeringen av simuleringsverktyg för beslutsfattande. Målet med denna studie var att utvärdera användbarheten och genomförbarheten av DES som ett verktyg för att eliminera slöserier för att öka antal producerade produkter i ett komplext system, för att undersöka en bättre relation mellan takttider för olika linor. Detta gjordes genom att utveckla framtidsscenarier med olika konfigurationer av modellen där olika parametrarnas beteende och förändring studerades. Rekommendationer för att nå mer effektiva samberoende monteringslinjer med hjälp av DES utvecklades, där fördelarna och utmaningarna med att använda simuleringslösningar för framtida beslutsfattande analyserades. Studien gav insikter och praktiska förslag för företag med komplexa samberoende monteringslinjer, som vill använda DES för att implementera lean-principer. Fem olika förbättringsscenarier testades och resultatet visade att ett ökat antal buffertplatser skulle ha störst påverkan på antal producerade produkter. En optimerad takttid för att maximera antal producerade bilar var också möjlig att identifiera med en numerisk analys där olika intervall av takttider testats i olika scenarier. Nackdelen med DES för komplexa produktionsflöden visade sig vara oförmågan att ta hänsyn till olika omgivande faktorer som säkerhet, ergonomi, kvalitet och kommunikation. Detta gör det till ett mindre användbart verktyg för att mäta effekten av att eliminera slöserier. Fördelen med DES-simuleringen var förmågan att hantera komplexitet såsom; olika takttider mellan olika flöden; luckor som uppstår i produktionen på grund av borttagna lastbilar från huvudlinjen; samspelet mellan de olika inflödena som slås samman; den extra tiden för att ta emot lastbilar från andra avdelningar; och stopptider som orsakar väntetid vid produktionslinjen. Därmed ansågs DES vara ett användbart verktyg för att bestämma takttiden för komplexa flöden.

Магистерская диссертация посвящена проектированию завода по производству стеновых блоков из легкого бетона на основе безобжигового зольного гравия. Проведен эксперимент по получению безобжигового зольного гравия из золы-унос Рефтинской ГРЭС (Свердловская область, РФ). Получен БЗГ, обладающий маркой по плотности М900 для гранул после нормального твердения и маркой М1000 для гранул после пропаривания. Марка по прочности – П250. Полученный БЗГ соответствует требованиям ГОСТ 32496–2013. Получен облегченный бетон на БЗГ класса В12,5. Разработана технологическая схема и подобрано основное оборудование для производства БЗГ. Для производства стеновых блоков выбран агрегатно-поточный способ производства. Составлена технологическая схема, определено количество постов. Рассчитано и подобрано основное и вспомогательное оборудование: для обеспечения работы каждой из четырех линии нужно 65 форм, ямная камера размерами 8,0х4,7х2,9 м, бетоноукладчик СМЖ-859, вибротумба СМЖ-200, рельсовая механизированная тележка СМЖ-151 и мостовой кран грузоподъёмностью 10 т. Рассчитан склад готовой продукции: 30 х 36 м. Определен список и численность работников формовочного цеха. Выполнена графическая часть. / The master's thesis is devoted to the design of a plant for the production of wall blocks made of lightweight concrete based on non-burnt fly ash gravel. An experiment was conducted to obtain non-burnt fly ash gravel from fly ash from Reftinskaya GRES (Sverdlovsk region, Russian Federation). NBFAG was obtained, which has a density mark M900 for granules after normal hardening and a mark M1000 for granules after steaming. The strength grade is P250. The resulting NBFAG complies with the requirements of GOST 32496-2013. Lightweight concrete was obtained for NBFAG of class B12.5. A technological scheme has been developed and the main equipment for the production of NBFAG has been selected. An equipment-flow production method has been selected for the production of wall blocks. A technological scheme has been drawn up, the number of posts has been determined. The main and auxiliary equipment was calculated and selected: to ensure the operation of each of the four lines, 65 forms are needed, a pit chamber with dimensions of 8.0x4.7x2.9 m, a concrete paver SMJ-859, a vibrating column SMJ-200, a rail mechanized trolley SMJ-151 and an overhead crane with a lifting capacity of 10 tons. The warehouse of finished products is designed: 30 x 36 m. The list and number of employees of the molding shop have been determined. The graphic part is completed.

Based on the description and definition of technology and processes falling within the vision of the fourth industrial revolution with the aim of creating intelligent factories, this diploma thesis deals with the principles of the Industry 4.0 concept in Hilti's production plant with a focus on transport and supply of production equipment. The aim of the work is to create a comprehensive proposal that takes into account all the necessary aspects associated with upgrading the existing state of inter-operational transport in a particular production line to fully automated, flexible and autonomous transport of materials and products in the context of Industry 4.0. A prerequisite for creating a design is the connection of automatically guided vehicles (AGVs) serving individual transport orders. The selection of the vehicle was made taking into account the safety of movement, the method of charging, the system and network integrity of existing and proposed technologies and components. The intention is not only to automate the inter-operational service, but also on the basis of the created automation concept, the ability to autonomously procure the flow of material and products. The mathematical calculation of capacity planning in the production line helped to determine the total load and the number of vehicles needed for continuous procurement of transport requirements. The result of the design part is also the design of specific transport routes and transport conditions that AGV vehicles must comply with in order to maintain a high level of safety. Transparency and a constant overview of transported products is provided by the presented scheme for identification of production batches, Auto-ID system. The financial efficiency of the whole project elaborated in the diploma thesis is evaluated as payable after 4 years from the implementation of the proposal.
