Estabelecimento de parâmetros operacionais, implementação de ensaio de proficiência e avaliação crítica de métodos analíticos empregados em nutrição animal / Establishment of operationally parameters, proficiency test implementation and analytical methods using in animal nutrition critical evaluation

Souza, Gilberto Batista de 05 September 2007 (has links)
Proficiency Testing for Animal Nutrition Laboratories was implemented with the objective to evaluate the variability of the analytical results and the performance of Brazilian animal nutrition laboratories. The structure and normalization were planning in accordance with analytical laboratories international protocols. Three years results are reported and discussed. A number of 43 laboratories, from state researches institutes, federal and state universities, and private companies participated of the trial. The performance of the next trial were evaluated: dry material, digestibility \"in vitro\" of the dry material, acid detergent fiber, neutron detergent fiber, crude protein, ether extract, lignin, ash, non protein nitrogen, insoluble nitrogen in neutron detergent, insoluble nitrogen in acid detergent, and the macro and micronutrients (Ca, P, Mg, K, S, Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn, and Na). The studied sample group, with different physical and chemical characteristics, was composed by forage, concentrate feed, and mineral mixing. To study the designated values, the consensus values provided by the laboratories were considered, and classical or robust statistic was used to define these parameters. The statistical design, based on z score, proved to be adequate to identify the laboratories performance, and the 76.9% value was observed as medium score of the laboratories with satisfactory concept. The ether extract, lignin and Na trials presented higher laboratorial varieties (cvEE = 42.7%, cvLignin = 59.1% e cvNa = 121%), considering the evaluated samples during the considered three years.

The effects of English language proficiency on performance and competence of learners in the rural secondary schools at Koloti Circuit

Makgoka, Malesetja Patricia January 2011 (has links)
Thesis (M.ED.) -- University of Limpopo, 2011 / This study investigated the effects of English Language Proficiency on Performance and Competence of Learners in the Rural Secondary Schools at Koloti circuit. The primary aim of this study was to establish whether English Language Proficiency had an effect on learners’ competence and performance in English as a Second Language and to establish the root cause of the problem of poor language proficiency. The background to this study was outlined, which was followed by an intensive literature review on the topic. The study followed a case study design which utilized 39 learners from the sampled schools in Koloti Circuit. Data was collected from diagnostic tests which were written by learners, questionnaires which were distributed to learners and parents, and interviews which were conducted with teachers and learners. The study showed that learners have serious deficiencies in reading, listening, speaking and writing skills which affect their competence and performance. The study also showed that this deficiency is attributed to teachers who need intensive in-service training in these skills. This study was based on Krashen’s and Cummin’s theories of second language learning.
