Tessier, Maxime January 2017 (has links)

Entre \'grandes\' e titulares: os padrões de nobilitação no Segundo Reinado / Between peers and titleholders: patterns of ennoblement during the Brazilian Empire (1840-1889)

Oliveira, Jessica Manfrim de 16 December 2015 (has links)
The present thesis presents a quantitative analysis of all nobility titles granted during Brazils Second Reign (1840-1889). By doing so, a regional quantification, according to different provinces, specially those of Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Bahia, Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Sul, was made in order to allow a more proper analyses of the emperors politics and what it meat in terms of political prominence. Besides that, all titles were duly related to the reasons that possibly impelled the government to grant such distinctions. All 1.133 honors ant titles, granted along the Second Reign, were accounted for. Finally, an effort was made in order to stables some kind of pattern regarding honors and titles granted, although such patterns are neither common to all regions (along all five decades that were accounted for), nor to different occupations held by those who were entitled.

Constantinople et les provinces : le rôle de l’aristocratie aux IXe-XIe siècles / Constantinople and the provinces : the role of aristocracy in the 9th-11th centuries

Andriollo, Luisa 30 November 2013 (has links)
This research aims to study the development of relations between Constantinople and the provinces of Asia Minor belonging to the Byzantine the Empire between the ninth and eleventh centuries. This study includes non only a research on the concrete ways to administer and exploit the provincial jurisdictions, but also the perception and cultural representation of the relation between center and periphery. We focused in particular on the political and social role of the aristocracy. The members of this social group were the main political agents of the imperial power; throughout the period, they filled an important mediating role between the central government and the provincial society, by the public functions they exercised and by the extensive and active networks of their personal relationships. After situating our work in the historiography, we dwell on the traditional representation of the provinces in the Byzantine literature, we also describe the military, administrative and fiscal structures of the provincial administration, seeking to identify the real issues related to the control of these Eastern territories, through the study of three macro-regions. For each of them, we try to identify the economic and strategic interests of the central institutions, their mutual relations and their interaction with the provincial society, particularly with the aristocracy. In the last part of this thesis, we try to describe the evolution of the meso-Byzantine aristocracy social profile, its ideology and its attitude vis-à-vis the imperial ideal. Such an analysis can help to understand the political and structural crisis that shook the Empire on the eve of Alexis Comnenus reign.

České kraje v historickogeografických proměnách / Czech Provinces and their Development in the Historical Geographical Context

Marečková, Jitka January 2012 (has links)
Regional administration in Bohemia originated already in the Middle Ages and has survived till these days as an basic constituent of the state administration. Cartographical material, especially maps of provinces, which has been so far rather neglected, is very interesting and important source for the cognition of the development of Czech provinces. These maps have been issued since the 18th century and especially in the earlier period had been widely used by general public. The only list of these documents "Soupis map českých zemí" compiled by František Roubík provides outdated and inconsistent informations. The primary aim of this work is to provide a more detailed list of these maps in the form of a catalog and bring more informations on the various creators and publishers of the maps.
