Santos, Marcelo Alves dos 24 August 2001 (has links)
The main goal of this dissertation is to takle a difficult problem in experimental modal analysis that is the indirect identification of input forces based on the knowledge of the structure\'s output response and dynamic characteristics, such as impulse responses and/or FRF. This represents an inverse problem in mechanics and usually offers great numerical difficulties in the process of identification of the input forces. There are methods for input force identification in the lime and in the frequency domains. In lhe time domain the SWAT method (Sum of lhe Weighet Accelerations Technique) is a method that is based on the principle of motion of the mass center. This technique alows the estimation of the resulting force acting on the structure and is primarily used with impact force signals. In the frequency domain the pseudo-inverse technique is known to give estimates of the resulting forces acting on the structure under investigation. In this work numerically simulated as well as experimental results are presented for both methods and their major advantages and disadvantages are discussed. The pseudo-inverse method is further employed in the identification of experimental transient and random multiple inputs.

Modélisation numérique thermo-viscoplastique du procédé de forgeage des métaux par l’Approche Pseudo Inverse / Thermo-viscoplastic numerical modeling of metal forging process by the Pseudo Inverse Approach

Thomas, Anoop Ebey 17 April 2019 (has links)
Hot forging is a metal forming process used to form difficult-to-form materials as well as to achieve complex geometries. The reduction of yield stress at high temperatures and a subsequent increase in formability is the primary mechanism that drives the process. Numerical methods provide an efficient means to predict the material yield and the stress/strain states of the product at different stages of forming. Although classical methods are accurate enough to provide a suitable representation of the process, they tend to be computationally expensive. This limits its use in practical cases especially for process optimization. Pseudo Inverse Approach (PIA) developed in the context of 2D axisymmetric cold forming, provides a quick estimate of the stress and strain fields in the final product for a given initial shape. In this work, the PIA is extended to include the thermal and viscoplastic effects on the forging process as well as to the general 3D case. The results are compared with commercially available software, based on the classical approaches, to show the efficiency and the limitations of PIA. The results obtained indicate that PIA is a quite effective tool that can be used for both 2D and 3D simulations of hot forging.

Modélisation et optimisation des préformes du procédé de forgeage par Approche Pseudo Inverse / Modelling and optimization of preform forging process by Pseudo Inverse Approach

Halouani, Ali 30 May 2013 (has links)
A new method called “Pseudo Inverse Approach” (PIA) is developed for the axi-symmetrical cold forging modelling. The PIA is based on the knowledge of the final part shape. Some « realistic » intermediate configurations are introduced in the PIA to consider the deformation path. They are created geometrically without contact treatment, and then corrected by using a free surface method in order to satisfy the equilibrium, the boundary conditions and the metal incompressibility. A new direct algorithm of plasticity is proposed, leading to a very fast, accurate and robust plastic integration method even in the case of very large strain increments. An isotropic damage model in deformation is coupled with the plasticity and implemented in the PIA. Numerical tests have shown that the Pseudo Inverse Approach gives very close results to those obtained by the incremental approach, but using much less calculation time. The PIA is adopted as forging solver for the design and optimization of preform tools in the multi-stage forging process. The rapidity and robustness of the PIA make the optimization procedure very powerful. A new method is developed to automatically generate the initial preform tool shape for the optimization procedure. The design variables are the vertical positions of the control points of B-spline curves describing the preform tool shape. Our multi-objective optimization is to minimize the equivalent plastic strain in the final part and the punch force during the forging process. The Genetic algorithm and Simulated Annealing algorithm are used to find optimal Pareto points. To reduce the number of forging simulations, a surrogate meta-model based on the kriging method is adopted to build an approximate response surface. The results obtained by the PIA using the optimal preform tools issued from the optimization procedure are compared to those obtained by using the classical incremental approaches to show the effectiveness and limitations of the PIA. The optimization procedure combined with the PIA can be a rapid and powerful tool for the design and optimization of the preform tools.

Santos, Ariane Rebelato Silva dos January 2018 (has links)
Determining the forces acting on a given system is a frequent issue in structural dynamics, so that load reconstruction or load identification becomes an important engineering problem. When a system is exposed to an unknown load and/or if it is not possible to directly measure the force acting on that system, it is necessary to use inverse methods. This methodology consists essentially in the application of punctuals dynamics load in the study models and later recovery of estimates of these loads at points of interest. In practice, there are situations where the number of points of interest differ from the number of points tested, so the matrix of the frequency response function (FRF) of the system is rectangular, making it necessary to use the pseudo-inverse of Moore-Penrose. In the present work, this methodology is applied to numerical models in order to test their effectiveness. The results of the dynamic load reconstruction processes using the present methodology were obtained from analytical and numerical applications. In addition, guidelines for using Moore-Penrose pseudo-inverse in the dynamic load reconstruction are presented at the end of this work.

Analyse et simulation de mouvements d'atteinte contraints en position et orientation pour un humanoïde de synthèse / Analysis and simulation of human reaching motion with position and rotation constraints for humanoid synthesis

Datas, Adrien 09 July 2013 (has links)
The simulation of human movement is an active theme of research, particularly in ergonomic analysis to aid in the design of workstations. The aim of this thesis concerns the automatic generation of reaching tasks in the horizontal plane for a virtual humanoid. An objective expressed in the task space, requires coordination of all joints of the mannequin. The main difficulties encountered in the simulation of realistic movements is related to the natural redundancy of the human. Our approach is focused mainly on two aspects: - Motion of the hand's operator in the task space (spatial and temporal aspect), - Coordination of all kinematic chains. To characterize human movement, we conducted a set of motion capture with position and orientation constraints of the hand in the horizontal plane. These acquisitions allowed to know the spatial and temporal evolution of the hand in the task space, for translation and rotation aspects. These acquired data were coupled with a playback method to analyze the intrinsic relations that link the task space to joint space of the model. The automatic generation scheme of realistic motion is based on a stack of task with a kinematic approach. The assumption used to simulate the action is to follow the shortest path in the task space while limiting the cost in the joint space. The scheme is characterized by a set of parameters. A global map of parameter adjustment enables the simulation of a class of realistic movements. Finally, this scheme is validated quantitatively and qualitatively with comparison between the simulation and the human gesture.

Guenab, Fateh 20 February 2007 (has links) (PDF)

Singular Value Decomposition in Image Noise Filtering and Reconstruction

Workalemahu, Tsegaselassie 22 April 2008 (has links)
The Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) has many applications in image processing. The SVD can be used to restore a corrupted image by separating significant information from the noise in the image data set. This thesis outlines broad applications that address current problems in digital image processing. In conjunction with SVD filtering, image compression using the SVD is discussed, including the process of reconstructing or estimating a rank reduced matrix representing the compressed image. Numerical plots and error measurement calculations are used to compare results of the two SVD image restoration techniques, as well as SVD image compression. The filtering methods assume that the images have been degraded by the application of a blurring function and the addition of noise. Finally, we present numerical experiments for the SVD restoration and compression to evaluate our computation.
