Excedente de significação na clínica psicanalítica: articulações entre o pensamento de Emmanuel Lévinas e a psicanálise / Excess of sense in the psychoanalytic clinic: linkages between the thought of Emmanuel Lévinas and psychoanalysis

Sniker, Breno Herman 19 June 2009 (has links)
This paper articulates the thought of Emmanuel Lévinas and psychoanalytic clinic. For this joint, the author makes use of the concept of inspiration, taking the thought of Lévinas as a tacit and alternative knowledge to psychoanalysis. By putting the thought of Lévinas in this position, several questions may be made to the psychoanalytic clinic. Above all, questions related to the ethical dimensions, some concerns the position of the analyst in relation to analyzing, others about the position of analyst in relation to theoretical constructions. To forward these questions, the author will use some Freudian texts, among them, Constructions in Analysis, Studies on Hysteria and Project for a scientific psychology, sometimes to illustrate these questions, sometimes to contrast the ideas of Freud to the thought of Lévinas.

Chaves, Ludmilla de Sousa 29 October 2010 (has links)
This research aims to investigate the boundaries of the psychoanalytic field that sustains the ambulatory mental health service in childhood, named Early Childhood Psychoanalysis: conjunct parents-child interventions , having the principal theoretical and clinical articulators, which are the psychoanalytic method, the transference and the metapsychological formulation of the subjective constitution. We have accomplished a hermeneutics research and through this investigative approach we looked for questions that enabled us to create and articulate new significances throughout the exercise of signifying the vivid experience, investigating the clinical processes and seeking supports for this practice. So, we outlined our route through the theoretical research, the conceptions of the process of subjective constitution of a child, language and symptom. Through the methodology research, we present the method of conjunct attendance and discuss the possibility of the psychoanalytic method being the support for the conjunct attendance, and also, the issue of the meaning and representation of infantile clinical psychoanalytic. The analytical research of this clinical model brought the issue of the transference, its impasses and characteristics of the clinic in the early childhood, and also, the discussion about the communication processes in the conjunct attendance setting. Finally, through the Clinical Research, two cases were analyzed. As a result of this trajectory we realized considerations on the naming this model of care, suggesting the switch to Psychoanalytic Attendance Parent-Child.

Momento de construir: a construção do caso clínico em psicanálise / Moment to construct: the construction of the clinical case in psychoanalysis and its effects

Wilian Donnangelo Fender 28 June 2018 (has links)
The psychoanalytical work does not stop at the end of the psychoanalytical session. It does not end either for the patient - who keeps on going under analysis - nor for the analyst who, from the sessions, can continue the work in the direction of the construction of the clinical case. However, the report of the sessions does not mean the case. From this inference, our question arises: what is this construction operation carried out by the analyst that makes this transformation viable? And, what\'s more, what effects does this construction implies? Thus, this research aims to investigate the construction of the clinical case in psychoanalysis, in order to understand this operation and its effects. From this first objective, three specific objectives are defined, which correspond to the objectives of each chapter of our organization. The method used was the investigation of the specific bibliography of the area. From each chapter, which organizes our results, we have: 1) the notion of construction in psychoanalysis is a notion that bases the construction of clinical cases, 2) the notion of clinical case in psychoanalysis corresponds to a deposit of specific traditions, what makes the clinical case a literary genre and 3) the construction of the clinical case in psychoanalysis can be organized in objectives, functions and elements that compose it. We also elaborated a fourth chapter in which clinical experience is discussed, based on our findings, in order to list some clinical effects that have the construction of the case for the psychoanalytic clinic. We conclude that for a patient in psychoanalysis to be called a case, it is necessary that the clinical material goes through the construction work performed by an analyst, that is, a rearrangement of the elements collected from the analytical sessions and that allows the construction of the case. Despite the stated objectives of building the case, the way of building is unique and is determined by the practice of each and the recipient of the construction. However, if there is a construct, it is possible for an analyst to communicate the case rather than a report, bringing up psychoanalytical clinical elements, notions e concepts that make the constant dialogue and dialectic between theory and practice

[en] CLINIC OF NARCISSISTIC SUFFERINGS: DEVICES TO PSYCHOANALYTIC WORK / [pt] CLÍNICA DOS SOFRIMENTOS NARCÍSICOS: DISPOSITIVOS AO TRABALHO PSICANALÍTICO

ARTHUR KOTTLER DA SILVEIRA 18 February 2022 (has links)
[en] The pictures of the so-called clinic of the present time encompass a heterogeneous range of ailments such as anorexias, bulimias, drug addictions, scarification, panic syndrome, as well as borderline cases reunited under the designation of narcissistic sufferings. One of the inspirations for this nosographic nomenclature has as its origin the French expression souffrances identitaires-narcissiques– narcissistic identity sufferings – coined by the French psychoanalyst René Roussillon. These sufferings impose on the psychoanalytic clinic a series of impasses and challenges that interrogate the analytical work, especially its clinical devices. In view of this substantiation, this thesis intends to investigate, in the psychoanalytic literature – including clinical cases and vignettes – possible clinical resources to the analytical work with these pictures. For this, the thesis is divided into two parts, the second being more prominent, according to its objective. In the first one, which will provide theoretical and clinical subsidies to the second, the main problems of the cases in question are located, which revolve around their point of origin – the occurrence of early pathogenic traumas. The second and main part of the thesis is devoted to investigating devices for analytical work whose characteristics may be consistent with the problems raised in Part One. The resources of clinical regression are explored according to the contributions of Michael Balint and Donald Woods Winnicott, as well as a set of analytical devices presented in different publications by René Roussillon to attending the clinic with the cases in question. The resources presented are crossed and grounded by a polyphonic and polymorphic listening, which, in turn, contemplates a series of contributions presented by this author, such as those of the messenger drive and the mimo-gesture-postural register. In the end, the thesis seeks to indicate the enlargement of one of these devices presented by the French author.

The Different Faces of Narcissism : A Psychoanalytic Reading of The Great Gatsby and The Picture of Dorian Gray / Narcissismens Olika Ansikten : En Psykoanalytisk Läsning av Den Store Gatsby och Dorian Grays Porträtt

Mir, Ashkan January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this essay is to perform a comparative psychoanalytic reading of The Great Gatsby (1925) and The Picture of Dorian Gray (1891) in terms of the titular characters’ narcissistic behavior. My claim is that Jay Gatsby and Dorian Gray can be seen as different depictions of narcissism. Literary critics in previous research characterized Gatsby and Gray as narcissists, but, there has not been a comparison between the two with focus on their narcissism. Gatsby and Gray display crucial differences which suggests that they portray narcissism in different ways. Theodore Millon identified four subtypes of the original narcissistic personality in order to better identify different types of narcissists. My aim is to use his subtypes to identify, and provide the causes and effects of Gatsby’s and Gray’s particular narcissistic behavior. My analysis indicates that Gatsby can be seen as a fictional illustration of the unprincipled and compensatory narcissist while Gray can be viewed as a fictional characterization of the amorous narcissist.

"If I Could Think of Somewhere to Go" : Alienation in S.E. Hinton's Rumble Fish / "Om jag kunde hitta någonstans att gå" : Utanförskap i S.E. Hintons Rumble Fish

Andersson, Malin January 2016 (has links)
This essay focuses on the alienation experienced by Rusty-James in S.E. Hinton’s Rumble Fish (1975). It more specifically centers on the causes of his alienation and how the alienation is illustrated in the novel. The analysis shows that the alienation Rusty-James experiences is caused partly by socioeconomic factors; for example his lack of hope for the future is closely connected to the fact that he belongs to a low socioeconomic class. In addition, there are also psychological factors, for example a childhood trauma. The alienation and its causes are mainly illustrated through the symbolism of the featured Siamese fighting fish and how Rusty-James’ relationships are depicted.

Emerging themes around masculinity : eclectic psychoanalytic views

08 August 2012 (has links)
M.A. / The objective of this thesis is to examine emerging themes around masculinity from within an eclectic psychoanalytic framework. In order to achieve the objective, the historical development of psychoanalytic theories on the male gender role are briefly examined. Thereafter, the thesis examines the eclectic psychoanalytic theories of masculinity proposed by Chodorow (1989, 1995) and Hudson and Jacot (1991). An investigation into the emerging themes around masculinity generated by the theories of Chodorow (1989, 1995) and Hudson and Jacot (1991) is then undertaken. The conclusion is that the theories of Chodorow (1989, 1995) and Hudson and Jacot (1991) share an eclectic psychoanalytic approach. The most important common themes in the development of masculinity, are identified as being the relevance of the pre-Oedipal years; the link between the development of the self and the formation of gender identity; and the relationship between psychoanalysis and social theory in the development of masculinity. The role of the mother is also explored in terms of her contribution to the development of masculinity and the maintenance of a gender bias.

Eudora Welty's "Flowers for Marjorie" : Toward the Caesura of the Unconscious

Gowdy, Robert Douglas 05 1900 (has links)
Eudora Welty's short story "Flowers for Marjorie" appears in A Curtain of Green and Other Stories, her first volume of collected stories published in 1941. Since the story's publication, literary scholars have interpreted the protagonist's murder of his wife, and the unusual events that follow, in terms of somatic realities that inform the text. This thesis is a psychoanalytic rereading/rewriting of "Flowers for Maijorie" that attempts to analyze its text as a possible dream narrative. By psychoanalytically rereading/rewriting the narrative in this story as a possible dream narrative, this thesis will attempt to demonstrate how the reader might experientially break through its previous resistance to interpretation, which should encourage a better understanding of the story's narrative ambiguities. The originality of this examination lies in its detailed analysis of the story's text from a psychoanalytic economy, thus providing perhaps the most detailed analysis of its text to date.

The Belief System and the Pop-esoteric Wave: a Theory on the Operational Belief System

Henriquez-Mendoza, Juan Carlos January 2011 (has links)
Thesis advisor: Stephen Pfohl / This work inquires about the subjectivity construction individuals perform in our contemporary media culture. It examines the structure of believing that can be inferred from the narrative elaboration of beliefs exerted in social conversations when pop-media related to spirituality or transcendency are used as inputs for conversation. For this purpose, I investigate the consumption of three films that triggered for their audiences intense controversies that included topics belonging to the blurry crossroad where spirituality, science, and religion intersect: What The Bleep do We (k)now!? (USA 2004), The Da Vinci Code (USA 2006), and The Passion of the Christ (USA 2004). My approach departs from the sociology of spirituality perspective, and draws on some insights developed by ritual studies, sociology of religion, social psychoanalysis, consumer studies, and visual studies. Based on a multi-method strategy of inquiry, formal film analysis, focus and discussion groups, and interview data collected from the audience, this dissertation finds that the burgeoning of a media driven popular culture spirituality in Mexico is creating a wave of Pop-Esotericism. As a rational narrative with consumption and conversational drives, Pop-Esotericism is not only a resonant media-reference, but also constitutes a pre-text in the construction of ephemeral and collective conversational spaces wherein the belief system is engaged and refurnished. To give a full account on the pop-esoteric phenomenon and on overall contemporary belief systems, I propose a theoretical model aimed to uncover the dynamics and strategies we engage to articulate spirituality, identity, and reality in our current global media context. / Thesis (PhD) — Boston College, 2011. / Submitted to: Boston College.
