Interventions for elderly people with a focus on existential health - A scoping review. Background: The elderly population will increase, which means an increased need for care and support to ensure that good health can be maintained. The concept of health includes physical, mental and social well-being. It is becoming increasingly common to also consider an existential dimension in terms of health. Interventions aimed at existential health have shown a positive result. The duty of occupational therapists is to work client-centered and strengthen each patient's emotional and physical well-being based on each individual's unique conditions. Spirituality is part of every human being and is therefore an important part of occupational therapists to consider. Purpose: To map and describe interventions for elderly people with a focus on existential health. Method: A literature study in the form of a scoping review has been used. Articles have been collected through searches in the databases AMED, CINAHL and PubMed. Eleven articles have finally been used in the work and the result has been reviewed and analyzed numerically and thematically. Results: The interventions have been mapped and described in the following categories: place for the interventions, spiritual interventions, interventions aimed at meaning and purpose of life, communication-based interventions aimed at existential health and the care providers' education and execution of interventions aimed at existential health. Conclusion: Individually designed interventions aimed at the existential health of elderly people give a positive result in the form of better physical and mental health. The feeling of having a purpose and a meaning with life is important and gives the individual an increased well-being. Further research needs to be done.

Background: In 2003, the National Commissioner of the South African Police Service gave instructions
that all the new student constables should undergo a personnel capacity-building programme as part of
their basic training. This led to the development of the Self-Management Programme by Police Social
Work Services. This programme IS, since July 2004, an integral part of the empowerment of more than
8000 recruits annually.
A comprehensive study into the short and long-term effects of the programme on recruits, as well as its
overall return on investment (ROI), was started in 2004. In this document, only the results that were
achieved with the measurement of the programme's decision-making and purpose-in-life components
will, however, be covered.
Objectives: The study had a twofold purpose. The first was to measure the short and long-term effect of
the Financial Management, Planning of Goals, Self-knowledge, Problem-solving and HIV/AIDS
Awareness modules on recruit's knowledge, attitude and behaviour. It, secondly, endeavoured to
measure the programme's return on investment coefficient.
Method: The study utilised an experimental research design, as well as focus groups and
triangulation. It involved an average of 400 experimental group respondents, 120 control group
members, 12 focus group participants and 14 presenters per module. A total of 23 questionnaires and a focus group schedule was designed and utilised in the generation of data.
Results: All five modules had a practical significant effect on the respondents' knowledge, attitude and
behaviour and improved their personal and professional functioning considerably. The "decision-making"
and "purpose-in-life" components, as well as the programme as a whole, also produced a very
high return on investment. It, therefore, implies that the Self-Management Programme should be seen as
both a very effective capacity-building tool and a financial asset for the South African Police Service. / Thesis (Ph.D. (MW))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2006.

Pozitivní afektivita jako významná součást osobní pohody / Positive affectivity as an important part of well-beingMiňová, Noemi January 2012 (has links)
This diploma thesis is in its theoretical part dealing with religious and philosophical concerns in relation to positive affectivity and subjective well-being. It offers a review of contemporary theories on this topic. In the practical part, it tests the relations of the constructs which have an infuence on personal well-being: positive affectivity, satisfation with life and life engagement. Positive affectivity is assessed with the life orientation test (LOT-R: Life Orientation Test-Revisited, Scheier, Carver, Bridges, 1994), personal well-being with the satisfaction-with-life scale (SWLS: Satisfaction With Life Scale, Pavot et al., 1991) and meaningful life engagement with the life engagement test (LET: Life Engagement Test- Assesing Purpose in Life, Scheier et al. 2006). The test sample consisted of 301 respondents of the common population. Their average age was 38 years, the national contents were 188 people of the Czech citizenship and 113 people of the Slovak citizenship. No correlation was found between positive affectivity and gender, age, education nor nationality. Further there was no correlation between satisfaction with life and citizenship, gender and age. The same applies to life engagement and citizenship and age. On the contrary, the results show that there is a diference in the...

More than 20 million copies of Warren’s book, The Purpose Driven Life (2002), were sold over the past 2 years. It is the best-selling hardback in U.S. history. Warren’s previous book, “The Purpose Driven Church” (1995), has sold over one million copies in 20 languages, and was selected as one of the 100 Christian books that. changed the 20th century. More than 415 churches/congregations in South-Africa have already purchased “The Purpose Driven campaign kit” and completed the 40 Days Campaign or are planning to do so. The name Rick Warren is synonymous with “Purpose Driven” and the popularity of his work as well as his influence in this country, justifies a study of this nature. This study wants to determine the effect of Rick Warren’s 40 days of purpose in the Circuit of Klerksdorp of the Nederduitsch Hervormde Kerk van Afrika. Warren (2002/3) provides five purposes for a believer in the church in his book, A Purpose Driven Life, which is according to him, the church’s purpose of existence. The book is divided into 40 brief chapters and participating congregations are motivated to use the book as part of their 40 days campaign. A Campaign Training Manual can be used complementary to the book helping congregations to prepare their campaign successfully. Chapter 1 of this study takes a look at the external and internal problems in the church. The question arises if the church is at all times sure of her purpose of excistence. There is a difference between efficiency (doing things correctly) and effectiveness, which is doing the right things correctly. The purpose of the church’s existence therefore involves choosing the right alternatives. The hypothesis of this study is that the 40 Days of Purpose is an excellent project for congregations to discover their purpose of existence while it also strengthens the process of building up the local congregation. With this hypothesis in mind, chapter 2 provides the underlying theological principles, concepts and some definitions of the subject of building up the local church. Chapter 3 contains a description of the preparation, the course and the ending of the 40 Days Campaign. The participating congregations in the circuit of Klerksdorp are evaluated according to the guidelines of the Campaign Training Manual. A theological view of each of Warren’s (2002) five purposes is also presented. Chapter 4 provides the quantitative and qualitative research which was done in the Curcuit of Klerksdorp. Eight congregations participated in the research project and the respondents reactions are discussed. Interviews that took place whith the pastors of participating congregations, are also discussed. Chapter 5 contains a critical evaluation of the 40 Days of Purpose as well as the book of Warren (2002/3). The conclusion reviews the hypothesis and whether it can be confirmed. / Dissertation (MA (Theology) : Practical Theology)--University of Pretoria, 2008. / Practical Theology / unrestricted

Исследование взаимосвязи смысложизненных ориентаций, личностных качеств и профессиональной направленности у старшеклассников : магистерская диссертация / Investigation of the relationship meaningful orientations, personal qualities and professional orientation in high school studentsМедведев, А. А., Medvedev, A. A. January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of the work was to determine the relationship between the meaningful orientations, personal qualities and the choice of a professional direction for high school students. A review of the literature on this issue showed that there is very little scientific work in this area, this indicates the novelty of the problem. Two methods "Smyslozhiznennye orientations" (hereinafter "SZHO") were used in the work. Leontief and "Professional Orientator 4.4." Developed by the Center for Humanitarian Technologies at Moscow State University. For statistical testing of the hypothesis, the package "STATISTICA 13.3." Was used. The basis of the study was such methods as: analytical, empirical, comparative use of descriptive statistics.
The obtained data by contrast group analysis show that in all contrast groups of the "Professional interests" block it is possible to single out several indicators, the scale "Self-control" and "Emotional stability", according to the Mann-Whitney criterion, there is a significant difference in all contrast groups. From the data obtained as a result of factor analysis, it is worth noting that the first and fifth factors in all three groups have the same structure. Differences between groups of girls and boys take place. In a group of young men, scientific activity is related to the technical sphere, but to a group of girls with a natural sphere. The obtained data using hierarchical regression analysis show significant correlations between the scale of the "General indicator" scale and the scale indicators: "Risk", "Nature" of the "Professional interests", "Activity", "Consent", "Self-control" of the "Personality" block.
The practical importance of the work is due to the fact that the results of the study may be used to increase the effectiveness of career guidance work.
