Šestinedělí z pohledu fyzioterapie / Puerperium from the perspective of physiotherapy

Šimánková, Marie January 2021 (has links)
This diploma thesis explores the ways in which physiotherapeutic procedures and concepts can be used to positively affect puerperium after a physiological childbirth. The beginning of the theoretical part describes the physiology of puerperium, lactation, women's psychological well- being during the postpartum period and postpartum complications. The main part of the thesis focuses on the application of physiotherapeutic methods and concepts during puerperium. The output of this part forms an information handout with exercises appropriate throughout puerperium. In the practical part of the thesis, a questionnaire survey of two groups of women at the end of puerperium took place to objectively evaluate the effect of the information handout. The aim was to find out whether women who are prepared for the puerperium and know how to use targeted exercises to support the regeneration of the body after childbirth experience a milder course of the puerperium, feel psychologically better and evaluate their breastfeeding effectiveness more positively. The experimental group (n = 32) received the information handout during pregnancy and used it in puerperium. The control group (n = 37) did not receive the handout. The standardized Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale questionnaire was used to assess the...

Health-risk assessment for roof-harvested rainwater via QMRA in Ikorodu area, Lagos, Nigeria

John, Chukwuemeka K., Pu, Jaan H., Moruzzi, R., Pandey, M. 08 April 2021 (has links)
Yes / This paper presents a study to assess the roof-harvested rainwater (RHRW) in the Ikorodu area of Lagos state, Nigeria, and recommends guidance to minimise the health risk for its households. The types, design and use of rainwater harvesting systems have been evaluated in the study area to inspect the human risk of exposure to Escherichia coli (E. coli). To achieve these objectives, a detailed survey involving 125 households has been conducted which showed that 25% of them drink RHRW. Quantitative microbial risk assessment (QMRA) analysis has been used to quantify the risk of exposure to harmful E. coli from RHRW utilised as potable water, based on the ingestion of 2 L of rainwater per day per capita. Results have revealed that the maximum E. coli exposure risk from the consumption of RHRW, without application of any household water treatment technique (HHTTs) and with application of alum only, were 100 and 96 respectively, for the estimated number of infection risk per 10,000 exposed households per year. This estimation has been done based on 7% of E. coli as viable and harmful. Conclusively, it is necessary that a form of disinfectant be applied to the RHRW before use.

A greenway management plan for Salisbury & Sharon, CT

Tomczak, Robert S. 29 August 2008 (has links)
The Ten Mile Region Sub-watershed study area in the northwest hills of Salisbury and Sharon, Connecticut have been impacted by excessive nitrate fertilization for decades. The sub watershed lakes and in particular Mudge Pond (classified as mesotrophic) is considered degraded by The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection. The DEP has concluded that large farming operations near Mudge Pond and its environs were contributing nutrient rich fertilizers in the sub-watershed. An ecological greenway model will be applied to direct the conceptual design. A network of greenway corridors offers a best management plan for the Ten Mile Region Sub-watershed and could enhance both the water quality and biological diversity while offering limited recreation to residents and visitors. The BMP network of greenways was adopted following extensive discussions with local planners, biologists and land owners. / Master of Landscape Architecture

With the Body as a Work Tool : - a survey about muscle tension and musculoskeletal injuries among flute teachers at Swedish community schools of music and art

Payerl, Linda January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to map the occurrence of physical ailments among flute teachers in Swedish community schools of music and art, as well as their knowledge of, their use of and their teaching in ergonomics and injury prevention. The questions raised are how commonly occurring physical ailments are among flute teachers, whether or not they have received adequate knowledge in ergonomics for the profession they practice, if they work with preventive measures against physical ailments and to what extent they include ergonomics in their teaching. The study is a quantitative survey in the form of a web questionnaire. The results show that 49 % of the surveyed flute teachers suffer from physical ailments, which they connect to flute playing. The problems are mainly located in the shoulders, the neck and the back. 60 % of the flute teachers work with preventive measures against physical ailments, of which the most common everyday actions are regular breaks during flute practice and physical exercise on a regular basis. The most common ergonomic factors that teachers communicate to their pupils are practice routines, body posture, instrumental grip, stretching and relaxation exercises and the importance of physical training. The results also show that many flute teachers would want or need better knowledge of ergonomics, because music education generally prepares musicians poorly for the physical challenges of the professional life. In the concluding discussion is emphasized that healthcare needs to be better informed of musicians’ injuries for these to be prevented and cured, and music teachers’ working conditions require attention to minimize the number of injuries.
