Ce travail présente deux contributions clés dans le domaine des réseaux de communication sans fil 4G+/5G, en particulier dans le domaine de la détection MIMO d’ordre supérieur et le design (conception) de réseau relai semi-duplex. La première partie de ce travail de recherche s’intéresse au développement d’une stratégie de détection MIMO d’ordre supérieur pour les terminaux 4G+/5G existants et futurs, d’un point de vue à la fois théorique et pratique. Une nouvelle technique de décomposition QR Bloc de prétraitement est proposée pour un récepteur LTE dans un scénario limité à un seul utilisateur, interférence limitée, ainsi qu’un scénario point par point dont les résultats surlignent les avantages et inconvénients en performance et complexité. La deuxième partie de cette étude comprend une étude de faisabilité d’une stratégie de message novatrice à deux phases et trois parties pour un réseau relai semi-duplex à couche physique, qui comporte un codage de superposition et un décodage d’annulation d’interférence successif, conscient des interférences. Un point clé de cette étude était d’analyser la performance du schéma d’adaptation des liaisons proposées dans le régime non asymptotique et d’évaluer l’efficacité spectrale (ES) par rapport aux hypothèses théoriques des blocs d’asymptotiquement grandes longueurs. Une comparaison ES supplémentaire est également présentée, avec une transmission de relais à deux étapes non coopérative et une stratégie de transmission point à point. Les résultats obtenus révèlent les gains d'ES qui peuvent être obtenus en exploitant la coopération de couche physique entre le relais et la station de base. / The evolution of wireless communication networks has always been rapidly progressive partly due to the demands of today’s data hungry users. This dissertation presents two key contributions to the body of knowledge in the evolving area of physical layer 4G+/5G communication technologies, especially in the domain of Higher-order MIMO detection and half-duplex relay network design. The initial part of this research investigates the development of a higher-order MIMO detection strategy for existing and future 4G+/5G receivers, from both a theoretical and practical perspective. A novel pre-processing Block QR decomposition technique has been proposed for an LTE receiver in a single-user interference-limited scenario as well as a point-to-point scenario with the results highlighting the complexity advantages and limitations in performance. The second part of this study involves a practical feasibility study of a novel two-phase three-part-message strategy for a physical layer half-duplex relay network, which features superposition coding and interference-aware successive interference cancellation decoding. A key aim of this study was to analyze the performance of the proposed link adaptation scheme in the non-asymptotic regime (finite block-length and discrete constellation signaling), and evaluate the spectral efficiency (SE) against the theoretical assumptions of asymptotically large block-lengths. An additional SE comparison with a non-cooperative two-hop relay transmission and point-to-point transmission strategy is also presented. The resulting outcomes reveal the SE gains that can be had by exploiting physical layer cooperation between the relay and base station.

spread spectrum technology, via an upgraded prototype SMT system, to validate its
cost-effectiveness for both Department of Defense (DoD) and commercial use. The
goal is to develop new and/or modify current SMT instrumentation using existing
production methods to provide increased capabilities at lower costs and reduced size.
The transmitter is to require less than 2 cubic inches of space and have a cost goal of
$500/unit "in quantity." The cost goal of a ground-based, 24-channel capable ground
receiver is $4000/unit "in quantity". The SMT project as well as its schedule, flight
and ground demonstrations, validation criteria and goals, and various benefits are
discussed.

Blind Adaptive Receivers for Precoded SIMO DS-CDMA SystemLi, Meng-Yi 08 August 2008 (has links)
The system capacity of the direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) system is limited mainly due to the multiple access interference (MAI), this is basically due to the incomplete orthogonality of spreading codes between different users. In wireless communication environments, the use of DS-CDMA system over multipath channels will introduce the effect of inter-symbol interference (ISI), thus the system performance might degrade, dramatically. To circumvent the above-mentioned problems many adaptive multiuser detectors are proposed, such as the minimum mean square error (MMSE) criteria subject to certain constraints. Unfortunately, with the MMSE receiver it requires an extra training sequence, which decreases the spectral efficiency. To increase the spectral efficiency, the blind adaptive receivers are adopted. In the conventional approach the blind adaptive receiver is developed based on the linear constrained minimum variance (LCMV) criteria, which can be viewed as the constrained version of the minimum output energy (MOE) criteria. Other alternative of designing the blind adaptive receiver is to use the linear constrained constant modulus (LCCM) criteria. In general, the LCCM receiver could achieve better robustness due to the changing environment of channel.
With the above-mentioned adaptive linearly constrained multi-user receivers, we are able to reduce the effects of ISI and MAI and achieve desired system performance. However, for worse communication link, the conventional adaptive multi-user detector might not achieve desired performance and suppress interference effectively. In this thesis, we consider a new approach, in which the pre-coder similar to the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems is introduced in the transmitter of the DS-CDMA system. In the receiver, by using the characteristics of pre-coder we could remove the effect of ISI, effectively, and follows by the adaptive multi-user detector to suppress the MAI. Two most common use pre-coders of the OFDM systems are the Cyclic Prefix (CP) or Zero Padding (ZP). Thus the pre-coded DS-CDMA systems associated with the adaptive blind linearly constrained receiver could be employed to further improve the system performance with the cost of decreasing the spectral efficiency.

The society of today relies a lot on the industry and the automation of factory tasks is more prevalent than ever before. However, the machines taking on these tasks require maintenance to continue operating. This maintenance is typically given periodically and can be expensive while sometimes requiring expert knowledge. Thus it would be very beneficial if one could predict when a machine needs maintenance and only employ maintenance as necessary. One method to predict when maintenance is necessary is to collect sensor data from a machine and analyse it for anomalies. Anomalies are usually an indicator of unexpected behaviour and can therefore show when a machine needs maintenance. Due to concerns like privacy and security, it is often not allowed for the data to leave the local system. Hence it is necessary to perform this kind of anomaly detection in an online manner and in an edge environment. This environment imposes limitations on hardware and computational ability. In this thesis we consider four machine learning anomaly detection methods that can learn and detect anomalies in this kind of environment. These methods are LoOP, iForestASD, KitNet and xStream. We first evaluate the four anomaly detectors on the Skoltech Anomaly Benchmark using their suggested metrics as well as the Receiver Operating Characteristic curves. We also perform further evaluation on two data sets provided by the company Gebhardt. The experimental results are promising and indicate that the considered methods perform well at the task of anomaly detection. We finally propose some avenues for future work, such as implementing a dynamically changing anomaly threshold. / Dagens samhälle är väldigt beroende av industrin och automatiseringen av fabriksuppgifter är mer förekommande än någonsin. Dock kräver maskinerna som tar sig an dessa uppgifter underhåll för att forsätta arbeta. Detta underhåll ges typiskt periodvis och kan vara dyrt och samtidigt kräva expertkunskap. Därför skulle det vara väldigt fördelaktigt om det kunde förutsägas när en maskin behövde underhåll och endast göra detta när det är nödvändigt. En metod för att förutse när underhåll krävs är att samla in sensordata från en maskin och analysera det för att hitta anomalier. Anomalier fungerar ofta som en indikator av oväntat beteende, och kan därför visa att en maskin behöver underhåll. På grund av frågor som integritet och säkerhet är det ofta inte tillåtet att datan lämnar det lokala systemet. Därför är det nödvändigt att denna typ av anomalidetektering genomförs sekventiellt allt eftersom datan samlas in, och att detta sker på nätverkskanten. Miljön som detta sker i påtvingar begränsningar på både hårdvara och beräkningsförmåga. I denna avhandling så överväger vi fyra anomalidetektorer som med användning av maskininlärning lär sig och upptäcker anomalier i denna sorts miljö. Dessa metoder är LoOP, iForestASD, KitNet och xStream. Vi analyserar först de fyra anomalidetektorerna genom Skoltech Anomaly Benchmark där vi använder deras föreslagna mått samt ”Receiver Operating Characteristic”-kurvor. Vi genomför även vidare analys på två dataset som vi har tillhandhållit av företaget Gebhardt. De experimentella resultaten är lovande och indikerar att de övervägda metoderna presterar väl när det kommer till detektering av anomalier. Slutligen föreslår vi några idéer som kan utforskas för framtida arbete, som att implementera en tröskel för anomalidetektering som anpassar sig dynamiskt.

variety of airborne test platforms. Many of these platforms also include Global
Positioning System (GPS)-based Time-Space-Position-Information (TSPI)
instrumentation systems. Due to space and other limitations, many of these platforms
have demanding antenna placement limitations requiring closely spaced antennas.
This paper describes steps taken to identify and mitigate potential interference to GPS-based
TSPI instrumentation systems by these new technology transmitters. Equipment
characterization was accomplished to determine interference potential of the proposed
new transmitters and susceptibility of several GPS TSPI receivers. Several filtering
techniques were identified as possible solutions to the anticipated interference
problems. Telemetry (TM)/GPS system mockups and laboratory tests of the same were
accomplished. Open-air testing was then accomplished to validate laboratory results.
Finally, on aircraft tests were accomplished prior to performing any aircraft system
modifications. Results of these test efforts are presented for others to consider when
planning similar modifications to other platforms.

The author suggests an approach which uses a delay line on one of the antennas while analyzing the front end C/N0 needed for L1 GPS reception. tracking and optimal diversity combination was performed using 4 antenna quadrants at two
orthogonal polarizations. Novel estimation approaches drove digital demodulation, symbol- and
bit- synchronization. Final telemetry outputs include: digital, analog (video), and analog IF (e.g.,
for downlink relay). This program has incubated several concepts that we believe have the
combined potential to significantly improve the future of telemetry.

Performance results for this receiver for bandwidth eÆcient QPSK modulation schemes such as square-root raised cosine pulse shaped QPSK and Feher’s patented QPSK are presented, demonstrating the great degree of exibility and high performance of the receiver architecture.
