RadioNet Driver Implementationfor the Mobile INTernet Router (Walkstation II project)Guerin, Pascal January 1994 (has links)
The Mobile INTernet router (MINT for short) is a core element of the Walkstation II Project. Its purpose is to link via a radio resource one or many mobile hosts, the latter are either independant or connected together forming a isolated subnetwork. The MINT has a communication device consisting of an Ethernet Controller and a radio tranceiver, currently working at 2GHz. The RadioNet Driver, a device driver is used control these pieces of hardware. Progress has been slow. Initial work involved exploring the MINT's programming environment (cross-compiler, debugger) and doing some experiments with the MINTs. Next, a dummy RadioNet driver was written to become familiar with programming in the (SunOS) kernel. Then the LANCE driver for the MACH kernel was modified, resulting in the RadioNet driver. This talk will decribe the tools and the current status of the RadioNet driver. / <p>Just as for Markus Oelhafen's thesis, Pascal was an exchange student with EURECOM, so I do not know the credits or even if he was registered at KTH.</p>

A Toolkit for Rapid FPGA System DeploymentParekh, Umang Kumar 17 November 2010 (has links)
FPGA implementation tools have not kept pace with growing FPGA density. It is common for non-trivial designs to take multiple hours to go through the entire FPGA toolflow (synthesis, mapping, placement, routing, bitstream generation). FPGA implementation tool runtime is a major hindrance to FPGA Productivity.
In modern FPGA designs, designers often change logic and/or connections in an already existing design. If small modifications are made to a particular module in a design, then almost the entire design will go through most of the FPGA toolflow again. This can be time consuming for complex designs and hinder productivity of FPGA designers. The main goal of this thesis is to improve FPGA productivity by reducing FPGA design implementation time for modifications made to an already existing design for rapid system deployment.
In this thesis, a toolkit is presented, which is capable of making design modifications at a lower level of abstraction for already existing designs on Xilinx FPGAs. The toolkit is a part of the open-source RapidSmith framework and includes the EDIF parser, mapper, placer, and router. It can be used to change logic and/or modify connections. Modules can be placed, unplaced, relocated, and/or duplicated with ease using this toolkit. Significant time-savings were seen by making use of the toolkit along-with the standard Xilinx FPGA toolflow, for making design modifications to already existing designs. / Master of Science

Customer Driven Improvements of Home Network and Router / Kunddrivna förbättringar av hemnätverk och routerRylander, Lina, Sandberg, Hilda January 2015 (has links)
This thesis is a service design project that has been carried out in cooperation with the telecom company Telia Sweden (belonging to TeliaSonera AB). The purpose of the report was to examine Telia's fixed broadband service for private customers from a customer perspective. Previously, the service has mainly been developed from a technology-driven perspective. During the broadband subscription, the customers are able to borrow a router from Telia but it has been noticed that some customers opt out Telia’s router. The objective of this work has been to deliver useful customer insights and improvement proposals to Telia within the framework of the broadband service. In the project, a service design methodology was used where the focus has been on interactions with customers. The interactions consisted of in-depth qualitative interviews. The project consisted of five phases. An initial preparation phase with a literature study on service design methods, the Internet and broadband technology as well as learning about and understanding the company. During the preparation phase internal hypotheses about the service problem areas were collected. The initial phase was followed by three iterative loops with customer interactions, insight analysis, ideation and conceptualization. Customer insights and concepts have been tested, evaluated, and deepened during the project. In the last phase the result was processed and the insights were rated for easier implementation. A major problem area for many customers was the Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi range, because the technology is perceived as difficult and abstract. The conclusion is that Telia should help their clients to improve the Wi-Fi quality and the project work led to three ultimate concepts tested on customers. Also six recommendations were delivered to Telia.

Interplay of excitation transport and atomic motion in flexible Rydberg aggregatesLeonhardt, Karsten 24 November 2016 (has links) (PDF)
Strong resonant dipole-dipole interactions in flexible Rydberg aggregates enable the formation of excitons, many-body states which collectively share excitation between atoms. Exciting the most energetic exciton of a linear Rydberg chain whose outer two atoms on one end are closely spaced causes the initiation of an exciton pulse for which electronic excitation and diatomic proximity propagate directed through the chain. The emerging transport of excitation is largely adiabatic and is enabled by the interplay between atomic motion and dynamical variation of the exciton.
Here, we demonstrate the coherent splitting of such pulses into two modes, which induce strongly different atomic motion, leading to clear signatures of nonadiabatic effects in atomic density profiles. The mechanism exploits local nonadiabatic effects at a conical intersection, turning them from a decoherence source into an asset. The conical intersection is a consequence of the exciton pulses moving along a linear Rydberg chain and approaching an additional linear, perpendicularly aligned Rydberg chain. The intersection provides a sensitive knob controlling the propagation direction and coherence properties of exciton pulses.
We demonstrate that this scenario can be exploited as an exciton switch, controlling direction and coherence properties of the joint pulse on the second of the chains.
Initially, we demonstrate the pulse splitting on planar aggregates with atomic motion one-dimensionally constrained and employing isotropic interactions. Subsequently, we confirm the splitting mechanism for a fully realistic scenario in which all spatial restrictions are removed and the full anisotropy of the dipole-dipole interactions is taken into account. Our results enable the experimental observation of non-adiabatic electronic dynamics and entanglement transport with Rydberg atoms. The conical intersection crossings are clearly evident, both in atomic mean position information and excited state spectra of the Rydberg system. This suggests flexible Rydberg aggregates as a test-bench for quantum chemical effects in experiments on much inflated length scales. The fundamental ideas discussed here have general implications for excitons on a dynamic network.
