Zavádění procesního řízení v praxi / Implementing Business Process Management in UseBosák, Martin January 2009 (has links)
This thesis attends to process management approach. It describes reasons and circumstances that led organizations to focus on this area. Especially the unsuitable quality of managing and opportunities for better match of values and processes are important. Fashion wave also plays an important role, which gives thanks to words such a process and models are inflected quite often. Approaches to the implementation of process management are various. The fundamental difference between them is the form of attitude to chase. Some of them require radical changes in processes and wants to build them from nothing. The others prefer to gradually improve them step by step. The most common variant, which usually best fit, is to mix these approaches. The tools and methodologies are needed for implementation also. One such tool is the Metastorm BPM. The outcome of the project, which is described in practical section of this thesis, was created with its utilization. Project goal was to implement process management for project management. Use of Metastorm BPM tool allowed simple implementation of required processes, including management and user functionality.

Converting Outdated SoftwareLif, Ruben, Handberg, Wilhelm January 2021 (has links)
The goal of this paper is to present a methodology for rewriting outdated software systems. We developed this method based on a work assignment from the company SSAB AB, where we were tasked with rewriting one of their outdated systems to fit modern standards. This paper discusses the reasons for rewriting outdated systems, and the steps of planning, analysing source code, the rewriting procedure, documenting the rewritten code, and evaluating it. By using the method we developed, we were able to produce a satisfactory rewritten application for SSAB, and believe that it can be reused for similar purposes in the future.

Strategic management techniques used to add value in a profit driven organization14 August 2012 (has links)
M.Ing. / This report addresses an empirical study into the re-structuring of Transnet group of companies. The study is based on the outcome of the re-engineering process focusing on Spoornet as a member of Transnet. The departments partially studied are, the Infrastructure Maintenance department and Train Operations department with-in Spoornet. The objective of this study is to achieve a break-even point between maintenance and the business side so as to increase operational profit in Spoornet. Outsourcing is a management tool used to make more profit. It is also a way of getting rid of unwanted business units. This will help increase shareholder value and reduce operating costs so that management can focus on core business units. The results expected from outsourcing in this study are aligned with the business process engineering "BPR" results. From the BPR results the business units were classified as core and non-core business units. Non-core business units were discontinued while core business units were further classified into core department, which is the running of trains, and the non-core department as maintenance departments. The maintenance departments are fully represented on a functional level while they used to have a full representative on the corporate level before restructuring. Cutting-off these logistic support departments at a corporate level, can have an effect on maintenance being undermined due to lack of specialists input at a higher level in terms of systems engineering and maintenance. This can lead to system's lack of maintenance and an increase in systems failure, making the system un-reliable and unsafe for the passage of trains while on the other hand the business will be lost back to the competitors, who in this case is the road freight business. A case study is discussed in the dissertation where value added techniques such as the business turnaround process, outsourcing and Integrated Logistic Support "maintenance" were applied in this study.

Business Process Modeling: Process Events and States / Modelování business procesů: události a stavy procesuSvatoš, Oleg January 2005 (has links)
This thesis focuses on modeling of business processes which are very sensitive on correct capturing of process details characterized as process events and states. At the beginning of the analysis are the process events and states classified into three types: activity related, object related and time related. Each type is analyzed in detail and there are formulated states and their transitions that form a lifecycle of each individual type of the process state. There are discussed contemporary process modeling languages starting from the very popular to relatively less known, all representing slightly different approach towards process modeling. The analysis of process events and states shows that the contemporary process modeling languages cover the defined lifecycles only partially. There are picked three popular process modeling languages and put through a test case, which is based on Czech regulation of a building process. This test case allows us to review their capabilities to capture the process events including the ways how they get along with their only partial support. Upon analysis of process events and states and the unsatisfying results of the con-temporary process modeling languages in the test case, there is introduced a new process modeling language which, as demonstrated, is capable of capturing many of the process events and states in the test case in much simpler and precise way that the three reviewed process modeling languages were able to.

Modellgestützte ProzessverbesserungWeller, Jens 16 June 2010 (has links) (PDF)

Web-based Software Reengineering : A case study on next generation product-selection systemLin, Weifeng January 2017 (has links)
Legacy systems are usually expensive to maintain, and they quickly become outdated in a fast changing industry with new requirements and technologies. However, replacing an old system with a complete new one could prove both costly and time consuming, and therefore the method of reengineering could present itself as a beneficial alternative. There is a lack of practice-based research in relation to the implementation of software reengineering. The main purpose of this thesis is therefore to recognize key aspects on how to reengineer web-based IT systems in a modern, easy-to-maintain and business-enhancing manner. A case study has been carried out, a reengineering of a legacy system used for product selection at Grindex AB, a Swedish submersible pump supplier and manufacturer. The process includes three stages, firstly a thorough analysis of the legacy system has been carried out, secondly interviews were conducted in order to identify new requirements, and lastly a new system was developed by Struts 2, Spring MVC, Spring, Hibernate in Java and a relationship database of MySQL. The author is presenting six areas of consideration – architecture, function, interface, language, data storage and algorithm – in relation to the software reengineering life cycle, and with a comparison between the legacy system and the reengineered system.
