Dálkové softwarové ovládání platformy bezdrátového modulu mobilního robotu / Remote control of remote communication board of mobile robot

Jílek, Tomáš January 2011 (has links)
The thesis discusses the possible ways of remote management of devices running Mikrotik RouterOS and choosing appropriate variant for implementation of automated remote management of the device, which is part of a mobile robot. Due to the limited capabilities of embedded system, from which it is necessary to perform automated remote management of device with this operating system, it was not possible to use standardized protocols for this purpose. A substantial part of this work therefore deals with analysis and detailed documentation of proprietary protocols implemented in the MikroTik RouterOS operating system, which are suitable for implementation in an embedded system, from which it is necessary to perform automated remote management. The conclusion describes the principle of the proposed and realized implementation of proprietary protocols in C language. The described implementation is part of the library, which provides automated remote management using these protocols.

Remote management: traditional leadership behaviors in a contemporary work environment

Watson, Kelley D January 1900 (has links)
Doctor of Philosophy / Department of Psychology / Patrick A. Knight / Today the geographic distance between workers is increasing. The purpose of this study was to investigate the distributed work environment by specifically focusing on leader behavior and its impact on subordinate outcomes. This study asked if the traditional core set of leadership behaviors is effective in distributed work environments, and how those behaviors impact employee outcomes such as commitment and satisfaction with supervision. Several fundamental and explored questions included: Do essential management behaviors such as consideration and initiating structure materialize differently in face-to-face versus remote situations, what type of leadership will have the most positive impact on employee's perceptions of satisfaction with supervision and organizational commitment, and does this differ according to the amount of face time between the manager and employee? Correlational data results did not support the hypotheses that face to face interaction scores were positively correlated with affective commitment, or satisfaction with supervision. Face to face interaction was not negatively correlated with continuance commitment. Non-remote employees reported significantly higher levels of satisfaction with supervision than remote employees. There was a significant difference between remote and non remote employees with non remote employees reporting higher levels of career advancement than remote employees. There was a stronger relationship between initiating structure and satisfaction with supervision when spatial distance was high. It appears that spatial distance acted as an enhancer. Two scales, company support for remote management and remote management specific behaviors, were analyzed to obtain preliminary data for future research.

Communication organisante et agentivité à distance : le cas d'une station service en franchise / Organizational communication and agency at distance : the case of a franchised Highway Gas Service’s station

Quaram, Youness 14 November 2014 (has links)
Inscribed in Information and Communication Sciences and in particular in the field of the organizational communication, this research questions the practice of management at distance in contemporary organizations (franchise, subcontracting, joint-venture, etc.). From a field study realized in a Highway Gas Service’s station, it tries to answer three research questions: (1) To what extent can we say that the franchise is a form of management at distance and what are its characteristics? (2) What are the natures of the capacities of action – or textual agencies – that organize working routines in the studied gas station? (3) How do these capacities of action intervene during the conversational routines and what modes of organizational existence do they establish? This thesis sheds light on the strength of the action – or agency – at a distance exerted by management upon what say and do the members of an organization, through a conceptualization of distance and routines based on a the conversational and textual dynamic that organize those capacities of action. This thesis also renews our conception of the mode of existence of the firm and opens the debate on the forms of authority that contributes to widespread the franchise as a model of management at distance.

Security Evaluation of Intel's Active Management Technology

Ververis, Vassilios January 2010 (has links)
Intel’s Active Management Technology (AMT) is, a hardware-based platform for remotely managing and securing personal computers out of band. AMT is available in most desktop and notebooks PCs equipped with an Intel Core 2, Centrino, or Centrino 2 processors with support for vPro technology. AMT operates independently of the platform processor and operating system. Remote platform management applications can access AMT securely, even when the platform is turned off, as long as the platform is connected to power supply and to a network. Developers can build applications that utilize AMT using the application programming interface (API) provided by Intel. While this might seem to enable creation of a powerful management tool, a secure infrastructure that is secure against insider and outsider attacks on an enterprise network is difficult. Unfortunately this technology can also potentially be used to create a powerful backdoor that is easily deployed and offers numerous features due to its almost unlimited permissions since the platform can be managed even though it is powered off.

基於CWMP與OAuth的智慧家庭服務維運管理架構 / Toward a CWMP and OAuth Compatible Operations Management Architecture for Smart Home Services

Wang, Yi Ching Unknown Date (has links)
With the rapid development of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), smart home technology has become more and more mature. The applications of smart home technology are still not popular because home devices are usually made by different vendors and thus are not compatible. As a result, the management and setup procedures of these smart home products are complicated. This thesis presents the design and implementation of a CWMP and OAuth based operations management architecture that supports remote purchasing of services and components, deployment of services, diagnosis, billing of service usage and autonomic failure detection and recovery of services. The architecture uses OAuth for supporting security functions of users’ private information. It is expected that the proposed architecture can facilitate the practical applications of smart home technology and provide a reference design for designing operations management mechanisms for smart homes.

THE SECURITIZATION OF HUMANITARIAN AID: A CASE STUDY OF THE DADAAB REFUGEE CAMP

Rudolph, Terence 14 August 2013 (has links)
This thesis examines, empirically, the securitization of aid delivery at the Dadaab refugee camps in Kenya. Through a series of semi-structured interviews with aid workers, it documents their security concerns, organizatinonal responses to security risks, and discusses the impacts of these concerns and responses on the delivery of aid to the camps. Armed with a biopolitical conceptualization of sovereignty, articulated in the human security paradigm, the humanitarian aid industry has increasingly reached beyond national borders to touch ‘bare life.’ By now, it is widely recognized that humanitarian principles such as neutrality have often failed to protect aid workers from violent attack as they increasingly venture into the world inhabited by “surplus populations.” Drawing on existing research, this study demonstrates how humanitarian aid delivery in high-risk environments, like refugee camps, is essential to the broader task of using aid to securitize and contain high-risk populations and political instability. Paradoxically, without the securitization of aid at the operational level, humanitarian workers are left exposed to the same enduring elements of insecurity that persistently threaten the lives of those they endeavor to help.
