Designing a custom-made minimal CRM web application for performance and varying screen sizes

Lundgren, Tobias January 2016 (has links)
In a world where the using of applications to simplify task has been more popular in both business and private. The need of an custom-made solution will be very interesting. But it is not enough in many cases, for satisfies its purpose. Sometimes the application also has to achieve good performance and work on multiple devices in a proper way. This thesis investigate what parameters that can used to analyze performance by mea- sure the page load time and what methods that can be used to achieve good performance. This thesis also investigates how we can get our application to adapts varying screen sizes on different devices.

Web Design for Multiple Platforms in Microsoft SharePoint 2013

Claug, Erik January 2013 (has links)
As mobile devices become more common when surfing the web there is an increasing demand of making web sites adjusted to other devices than computers. One common platform on the web is Microsoft SharePoint. In this report I look into one method of how to develop web sites that work on multiple devices in Microsoft SharePoint. I will be looking into different techniques as separate web sites compared to responsive web design. By exploring the approach of mobile first I try to find a working solution of techniques. I also look into another method that is suggested in a book and look into how Bootstrap could be used in the process. I will also look into content to identify what content need to be adjusted between different devices. I find that navigation is an important part of a web site and look into different methods of handling navigation on mobile devices. By analyzing different techniques and looking into what content is going to be adjusted a solution is proposed where the navigation is adjusted in a responsive design. The design is converted into a SharePoint masterpage and then fixed using stylesheets and JavaScript. The solution works on a web site with a complex site structure since it focuses on how to adjust the navigation.

A usability study of a website prototype designed to be responsive to screen size

Rundgren, Sophie January 2014 (has links)
This paper describes a usability study of a responsive website prototype. A heuristic evaluation was conducted with three evaluators with a background in HCI, and user tests with four potential users were conducted as a control method to test the relevance of the heuristic evaluation result. The study showed that the website prototype failed the visibility of system status, user control and freedom and error prevention heuristics in the heuristic evaluation. However, the users responses contradict that result by showing that the users had no problems with those areas in the user tests. In fact, the users detected no usability problems at all. This could mean that those heuristics are not relevant for a responsive Web 2.0 site and needs to be removed when conducting a heuristic evaluation of a responsive website in the future, and that designing for responsiveness leads to higher usability. This study shows some indications but more testing needs to be done, preferably on several fully developed responsive websites, to be able to make any real conclusions about the usability of a responsive website and the relevance of the heuristics used in this study.

Från statisk till följsam webbdesign : Den nya webbteknikens väg till företagen / From static to responsive web design : How new web technology finds its way to companies

Rask, Matilda, Carlstedt, Fanny January 2012 (has links)
The IT industry is constantly evolving and requires everyone working with website development to be updated on the latest methods. The web grows larger every day, and more visits are carried out by mobile devices. It is more important than ever for companies to have updated and functional pages that can be used on different platforms. We want to find out how common it is for IT departments and web agencies to embrace the newest technology and also what it takes to get them to move from one technology to another. Responsive web design is a constantly growing new technique that helps web developers developing for different platforms. In this paper we have chosen to use responsive web design as an example in our research on how new technology is implemented in different companies.

Arkivering av företagskunders grafiska riktlinjer : Design och utveckling av en arkivwebbsida med responsiv design

Diring, Ellinor January 2014 (has links)
This report describes the process of developing a user-friendly and responsive archive website. The website is a Hi-fi prototype and was created for the company JG Communications, to serve as an archive for their customers’ style guidelines. To create this website I have used HTML5 and CSS3 to make it responsive for various computer screens. I have also used PHP and some JavaScript to make some of the functions and Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to make design elements for the prototype. The main purpose with this project was to come up with a design and most of all to come up with how the site should function. I have done user tests combined with interviews, content analysis on JG Communications website, and applied various design methods when building and designing the website.

Cultural Identity as a Discursive Product : Multiple Voices Towards Discursive Construction of Lazi Identity

Avdan, Nazlı January 2011 (has links)
Ethno-linguistic diversities and the rights to enjoy and maintain indigenous languages and identities has been a central issue in the socio-political agenda of Turkey since the foundation of the Republic of Turkey. The Lazi have taken their part in the discussions concerning minority rights through the discourses of a group of Lazi activists since the early 1990s.This study aims to examine the discursive construction of Lazi identity with close attention to its various actors and the context in which the process is carried out. To this end, selected texts by the social actors who are involved in the Lazi identity building process are studied in terms of various functions of language contributing to the communicative production of discourses. The content of written and oral commentaries by various social actors who are influential in the Lazi identity building process is studied using Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA).The study concludes that the construction of Lazi identity is an on-going process which is developed by influential social actors. The discourses of Lazi activists display a dilemma between the commitment to establish or re-establish a distinct Lazi identity with emphasis on a distinct language and culture rooted in ancient history and a determination to remain a component of the Republic of Turkey.

Castrix : Utveckling av webbsidan Sundsvall42

Vafadar, Bahador January 2012 (has links)
The goal of this Bachelor project was to develop the Sundsvall42 website, whose name originates from the conference held in week 42 and during whichall the IT-companies in Sundsvall gather and hold a number of different lectures. The website has been designed to accommodate both speakers and partipicants. All partipicants and lecturers will receive a personalized page inwhich there are a number of functions which are available for use, including ablog for each workshop and a calendar. The program used to create this isLiferay and the operating system is Linux. The entire website is encoded usingLiferay and Java, but the website is not adapted for use with the smaller screensize of the Smartphone. However, because of the Responsive Design technology, the website is able to adapt to various devices such as the Ipad and Smartphonesand the website will be able to adapt to the screen sizes of these devices. As it has all been processed using open-source, everyone has the right to accessthe source code. It is also possible for anyone to make changes to the code ifsuch changes are required. It is very important that two solutions are chosen asit is possible that one of the solutions will not prove to work adequately. Theconclusion was between the solutions given by both Liferay and HTML in ResponsiveDesign and it was determined that Liferay's version of ResponsiveDesign works better in its own environment.

Usage of HTML5 as the basis for a multi-platform client solution

Shao, Da January 2012 (has links)
Technologies for how a rich user interaction can be delivered have changed a lot during the last 10 years. From a world where these types of user interfaces predominately was built as desktop applications like Windows Applications over to web technologies using Java Applets, Flash, Silverlight, Android, iOS etc. The problem though has been the vast amount of different technologies with no or limited connections between them. This has so far been a problem for application developers since essentially no code can be reused between the different platforms but also that some of them are not native – some kind of runtime platform needs to be installed (Flash, Silverlight, Java…). With the introduction of the emerging standard of HTML5 it seems that there is finally a technology that is getting more widely used by most of the platform suppliers.  This Master Thesis aims to prove the HTML5 can be used to build clients for MediusFlow. The point is to investigate if it’s possible to implement all the pages of frontend on different platforms by using idea like Responsive Web Design with HTML5.The showcase will be to build a complete app for MediusFlow on the iPad platform based on HTML5. In addition the interface must be verified on at least one additional platform, most probably Internet Explorer 10.

Användares förväntningar på hemsidor i mobila enheter : En studie ur användarperspektiv / Users expectations on websites seen from mobile devices : A study from the perspective of users

Kristoffersson, Per January 2013 (has links)

Applikationsutveckling i Responsive Web Design / Development in Responsive Web Design

Sundqvist, Tobias, Wåhlander, Christoffer January 2013 (has links)
Responsive Web Design (RWD) has quickly moved from a concept to one of the biggest trends within WebDevelopment. Today it is close to implied that new Websites should use the technique RWD. Even so the techniquedo not cover all problems the developers are facing today when it comes to the flora of mobile devices. Within this thesis we are digging deeper into the technique, both in practice and theory, in order to make conclusionson its advantages and disadvantages. This we fulfilled by creating both an application platform and a first application(to handle vacation requests) for the company Sigma AB, there one of basic requirements were that everythingdeveloped could be used anywhere. From our results we are giving recommendations for when you should use RWD and when you should considerother techniques like Native- or HTML5 applications.
