Reviving of our defined project area is potentially a big step for reviving the whole suburb. Technical museum of Brno has relatively good position nearby the Technology park, but currently not using much of the potential. This project adsresses these posibilities and propose a urban solution for enrichment of the museum to become a full-blown place IN THE CITY, a place for meeting, passing through and stopping by.

Changing Continuities: The Removal Period (1795-1830) Archaeology of the Potawatomi and Kickapoo Peoples of Illinois

Wagner, Mark Joseph 01 December 2010 (has links)
This study is an examination of the cultural interaction that occurred between Native and European peoples in Illinois between 1795-1830. During this period many Native groups splintered into factions--nativists and accommodationists--that advocated opposing strategies for dealing with Euro-Americans. Nativists equated the use of Euro-American foodways and selected material culture items with a loss of traditional values while accommodationists adopted Euro-American faming methods, clothing styles, and foodways in an attempt to avoid removal west of the Mississippi River. Drawing upon historical and archaeological information recovered from Kickapoo and Potawatomi sites in Illinois, I argue that early nineteenth century nativist peoples in Illinois actively created and maintained a social identity expressed through continuity in Indigenous forms of subsistence, settlement, and artifact manufacture; the recycling of Euro-American metal artifacts into tools and ornaments that expressed a Native identity; and the use of selected Euro-American material culture items compatible with such an identity. Change did happen, but it occurred within a Native context and served Native needs.

New Belgrade’s Cultural Spine: Revitalization of the spaces lost to the Highway E75

Prostran, Nikola January 2022 (has links)
New Belgrade’s Cultural Spine: Revitalization of the spaces lost to the Highway E75 is a Masterplan project that has a healing aspect to the city fabric and public life. Belgrade is a city located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers which divide the city into three parts. Still, besides this division, there is also a Highway that has a disruptive effect on the city fabric.  How do the communities surrounding the highway interact with it? How they can use the space which now is not possible? The project is about communities and heritage adjacent to the highway. How to provide access to it? Focusing on New Belgrade’s Central Zone, this project provides the model that is an alternative to the model of big developments, instead of covering up empty sites, it is trying to rethink their function and create a cultural spine that is desperately forgotten in this part of the city.
