Vývoj meziplanetárních koronárních výronů hmoty / Evolution of interplanetary coronal mass ejectionsLynnyk, Andrii January 2011 (has links)
Title: Evolution of Interplanetary Coronal Mass Ejections Author: Andrii Lynnyk Department: Department of Surface and Plasma Science Supervisor: RNDr. Marek Vandas, DrSc. e-mail address: vandas@ig.cas.cz Abstract: This thesis deals with deformation of the Interplanetary Coronal Mass Ejections (ICMEs) and their sub-class Magnetic Clouds (MCs) during their propagation in the Solar Wind (SW). The statistical study of the expanded MCs has shown that expansion greatly affects the MC internal magnetic field. We had shown that this influence is more clear for the MCs observed close to their axes. The study of the stand-off shock distance in front of the supersonic ICME confirms a smooth deformation of the ICMEs along their path from the Sun into interplanetary space. We observed that this deformation is increasing with the velocity of the ICME. This study also confirmed the difference in sheaths that are created in front of expanding and non-expanding ICMEs. We found that velocity distribution inside the MC is not uniform and it has large fluctuations. We found that the MC cross-section is usually strongly deformed. Keywords: interplanetary coronal mass ejection, magnetic cloud, magnetosheath, flux rope, magnetic field, shock, fitting

of the Diploma Thesis: The presented diploma thesis is focussed on the standardization of the modified test of Working curve by Emil Kraepelin and Richard Pauli, in agrément with the project PREGnet - basic methodology for ergodiagnostic examination in Czech Republic. The methodology was modified for manipulation activities and termed Test of rope clamps. It handles contraindications in the use of basic test and absence of standardized ergodiagnostic and endotherapeutic tests, tools and procedures in the field of examination and therapy of hand function. The thesis is both theoretical and empirical and it is based on the quantitative type of research. Theoretical part is represented by a literature surfy oriented on the test of Working curve by Emil Kraepelin and Richard Pauli, its modified vision and its practical application. Practical part is composed of a psychometric study determining normative data and development of test documentation. Representative sample was selected by accidental selection method from economically active healthy Czech population. Techniques for quantitative type of research were used for data collection. Collected data were treated and analysed by methods of descriptive statistics. Developed documentation and the normative data for Test of rope clamps can be used in...

Structural characteristics of various types of helically wound cables in bendingKhan, Sajjad W. January 2013 (has links)
The primary aim of this research was to investigate the bending behaviour of helically wound steel cables of various types (i.e. normal spiral strands, sheathed spiral strands and locked coil cables) in the presence of friction and to propose more efficient computational models for their analysis under combined tension and bending. The proposed model fully takes into account interwire contact forces both in the radial direction (point contact between wires in different layers) and hoop direction (line contact within the wires in the same layer). Extensive theoretical parametric studies have been undertaken on a variety of cable constructions covering a wide range of geometrical and material parameters. Explicit formulations have been developed for the smooth transition of the bending stiffness from no-slip to full slip regimes, as a function of cable curvature. Based on these formulations, it is now possible to calculate the relative displacements of the wires, as well as the tensile, bending and hoop stresses in the individual wires of the cable. Furthermore, bending stiffness of the cable is shown to decrease by a factor of 2 to 16, depending upon the friction coefficient between wires and the type of cable construction. Wherever possible, the theoretical results have been compared with experimental results from the available literature and are found in very good agreement with them. A simple method for the determination of the bending stiffness of large diameter multi-layered cable has been developed. The simplified method is further shown to provide estimates of the bending stiffness which are very close to those calculated by the original theory, allowing hand calculations for an easier use in industry. The proposed formulations have been extended to cater for the effects of external hydrostatic pressure on sheathed spiral strands in deep water applications. These forces are shown to have a great influence on the pattern of interwire contact forces and hence the interlayer slippage between the wires in the strand. Numerical results have been obtained and analysed for three different 127 mm diameter strands with lay angles of 12°, 18° and 24° respectively, experiencing a wide range of external hydrostatic pressures of 0 to 2,000 metres. The significant increase in normal contact force between wires is shown to suppress the slippage of wires in the cable. However, the no-slip and full slip values of the effective bending stiffness of the cable is shown to be independent of the level of hydrostatic pressure. A theoretical model is also proposed for estimating wire kinematics, pattern of interwire slippage, contact forces as well as the flexural rigidity of locked coil cables with outer layers made of shaped wires. In order to validate this model, numerical results are reported for two different locked coil cables. It is shown that the shaped wires in the outer layers of locked coil cables play an important role in the distribution of contact forces, slip initiation and cable unwinding.

Cordes textiles torsadées à fibres continues : Caractérisation de la structure et modélisation du comportement mécanique en extension / Single and multi-ply continuous filament yarns : Caracterisation of the structure and modelling of the mechanical behavior during extensionSibellas, Aurélien 08 March 2019 (has links)
Twisted continuous filament yarns are commonly used as reinforcements in a wide variety of industrial applications and more specifically as reinforcements in tyre rubber. The yarns concerned are made of nylon, polyester or aramid fibres by twisting them together (from 200 to 1000 fibres of the same material) to obtain what is called a single yarn. The assembly of two or three single yarns by twisting them together makes it possible to build a multiply yarn that will be called hybrid if the initial single yarns are made of different fibres. All configurations give a wide range of possible mechanical properties involving the effects of the material's behaviour, the local orientation of the fibres and the transverse pressures inducing an imbalance in the case of the presence of different types of fibres. This thesis presents a precise structural study of fiber orientations by X-ray microtomography of single and multiply yarns and an original tool to analyze the spatial frequencies characteristic of fiber trajectories. A mechanical model of single yarn in extension from the literature is enriched from this work supported by an additional experimental study of their lateral contraction under extension. The influence of the disorder of the initial fibre bundle on the mechanical behaviour of the final single yarns is analysed numerically by the finite element method by simulating the physical process taking place during twisting. Finally, a general mechanical model is proposed to predict the mechanical behaviour in extension of the hybrid multiply yarns, consisting of three single yarns showing different torsions.
