Pau-brasil: os diferentes significados dos discursos de conserva??o s?culos XIX e XX / Pau-brasil/Brasilwood: the different meanings related in which attempts to place its maintenance in the 19th and 20th century

The study aimed to understand the meaning (or meanings) of these concerns and the importance of preserving and maintaining that species of the Atlantic Coastal Forest. Source text that dealt exclusively with species like that tree in the forest has been analyzed. For three centuries of exploitation, the brazilwood was significant and commercially feasible, but at the beginning of the twentieth century, the wood was so rare that it got considered an extinct species. Its main usability and commercial application was dyeing, even so, the wood of the brazilwood got devalued by the application of artificial dyes on that. This tree had already guaranteed place in the history books, public spaces and, in the 1970s, occupied the post of national tree. The preliminary hypotheses were that in the 19th century, the brazilwood would be seen as just an item of exploration and trade, so that its conservation met with purely economic interests. In the speeches of the early twentieth century, the tree would be considered virtually extinct but it is now seen as a material that needs protection and preservation in public spaces for prosecuting the national memory. The governmental measures from the 1950s to 1970 would not have as the main argument the environment preservation. The brazilwood met a representative role of national wealth and it was historically important for Brazil. The speech analysis took into account the historical and symbolic evolution of the pau-brasil (Caesalpinia echinata) in different social contexts in which attempts to place its maintenance / Neste trabalho foram analisadas fontes de documenta??o textuais com discursos produzidos desde o in?cio do s?culo XIX at? a d?cada de 1970. O objeto de estudo foram os discursos que denotam preocupa??o de uma ?rvore na natureza. O estudo teve como objetivo saber qual o sentido (ou os sentidos) dessa preocupa??o. Por que era importante manter aquela esp?cie vegetal? Dessa maneira, fontes que trataram exclusivamente da quest?o da sua presen?a na mata foram analisadas. Durante tr?s s?culos de explora??o, o pau-brasil foi importante e vi?vel comercialmente, mas no in?cio do XX era t?o raro que foi considerado extinto e sua principal utilidade tinha sido superada pela inven??o dos corantes artificiais. Mas a ?rvore j? tinha lugar garantido nos livros did?ticos de hist?ria, em lugares p?blicos e, na d?cada de 1970, foi declarada ?rvore nacional. As hip?teses preliminares eram que no s?culo XIX, o pau-brasil seria visto como apenas mais um item de explora??o e com?rcio, cuja conserva??o atendia interesses puramente econ?micos. Nos discursos do in?cio do s?culo XX, a ?rvore seria considerada praticamente extinta na natureza e vista como um elemento que deveria ser mantido materialmente em espa?os p?blicos como exerc?cio de mem?ria. As medidas governamentais tomadas em rela??o ? ?rvore nas d?cadas de 1950 a 1970, n?o possuiriam como argumento principal a preserva??o ambiental, a ?rvore era vista como um elemento representativo das riquezas nacionais e importante para a hist?ria do pa?s.

Therefore, we search discursive practices that since the end of nineteenth century built the identity of Cear? and in the middle of twentieth century produced the crisis of modes of seeing and telling the space in front of enunciations of the national modernization, especially with the emergence of politics by SUDENE to the Northeast, the progressive actions by Catholic Church, the defense of tradition by regional literature of union of Cear? Cl?. The contradictions between the glorification and fear the modernization of Brazil produced on the space speeches that his identity would be fractured, that the old symbols of drought, canga?o, mysticism and colonels declined. Among analyzed speeches, we centered the analysis of Trilogia da Maldi??o formed of novels O Drag?o, of 1964, Os Verdes Abutres da Colina and Jo?o Pinto de Maria: a biografia de um louco by Jos? Alcides Pinto. In this novel, the enunciation of the crisis of symbologies about the space produced another aesthetic, the allegory, which, mixed with the mystical and melancholy, in search of ways to restore the language of the old themes Cear?, drop of Cear? the same stigma of anti-modern space, where the images of delay changed icons of a fractured identity in front of the modern streams, where the word was transformed in the dimension precarious and redeemer of the tradition, of old, of nature, of the plenitude of senses. Alcides Pinto. Para isto, rastreamos pr?ticas discursivas que desde o final do s?culo XIX constru?ram a identidade cearense e em meados do s?culo XX produziram a crise dos modos de ver e dizer o espa?o ante os enunciados da moderniza??o nacional, especialmente com a emerg?ncia das pol?ticas da SUDENE para o Nordeste, das a??es progressistas da Igreja Cat?lica para o sert?o, da defesa da saudade e da tradi??o pela literatura regionalista da agremia??o cearense Cl?. To achieve this, we used a methodology that is divided in three moments: as a basic strategy is research used the qualitative method, which will assist in the description of the Kingdom of God, symbol of its meaning, ressignifica??es and evolution that suffered during the periods covered; How to approach and method of data collection was chosen the hypothetico-deductive, through which, from the gap of knowledge that is evident in problem formulated, it is possible to develop hypotheses and test them through the process of deductive inferences; finally, as a method of procedure and data analysis is comparative-historical method, which, at the time investigating the events, circumstances and institutions of the past, can also check similarities and explain differences with other periods, explaining the way the social function of the Kingdom of God symbol was developed in the past and its influence in later periods. One of the hypotheses obtained as a result is that the main social function of the symbol of God's Kingdom play a structuring role and organizer of life in society, through a discursive and symbolizing action plan whose objectives are to create an ideal society through religion. With that, one of the arguments that is driven by this result relates to ambiguity in the use of the symbol that is the result of disputes and group interests, sometimes antagonistic, who dispute the legitimacy and the symbol manipulation. / A presente Disserta??o investiga a fun??o social do s?mbolo Reino de Deus e o papel que desempenhou durante per?odos espec?ficos da hist?ria da religi?o crist?, bem como as formas com que foi apropriada como poder de legitima??o social por diferentes grupos. Para isso, ? utilizada uma metodologia que divide-se em tr?s momentos: como forma de estrat?gia b?sica de investiga??o ? utilizado o m?todo qualitativo, o qual ir? auxiliar na descri??o do s?mbolo Reino de Deus, de seu significado, ressignifica??es e evolu??o que sofreu durante os per?odos abordados; como m?todo de abordagem e de coleta de dados foi escolhido o m?todo hipot?tico-dedutivo, pelo qual, a partir da lacuna de conhecimento que se evidencia no problema formulado, ? poss?vel elaborar hip?teses e test?-las pelo processo de infer?ncias dedutivas; por fim, como m?todo de procedimento e an?lise dos dados ? utilizado o m?todo hist?rico-comparativo, o qual, ao tempo que investiga acontecimentos, circunst?ncias e institui??es do passado, tamb?m pode verificar similitudes e explicar diverg?ncias com outros per?odos, explicando, assim, a forma com que a fun??o social do s?mbolo Reino de Deus foi desenvolvida no passado e a verifica??o de sua influ?ncia nos per?odos posteriores. In this context it is looked for revealing its forms and contents to make it possible to understand them beyond the rationality, calculability and mathematical elements presents in them; beyond apparentness, taking them in their complexity. The discussions encompass theoretical elements, based especially on Georg Simmel s theoretical analyses, allied to a specific empirical frame that regards the life experience of the women of Praia do Meio, peda?o of the city of Natal-RN-Brazil, where the data were collected from. Fundamentally, prostitution is perceived as an exchange activity, which is not depleted in the economic elements, but, contrarily, starts on them and surpasses them in diverse aspects. It deals about a money-mediated relationship between human beings that possesses in itself a full complexity, which demands an accurate and keen attention to be comprehended. Since money has transformed the world and the men and women in it, the discussions in the text are conducted in a direction to attempt to encircle and understand the relationship between money and prostitution. Prostitution, in turn, aids to understand such a transformation as it is also a symbol of our times and it makes us to face the true essence of our society: the transformation of human beings into merchandise, into negotiable objects. In the money-based society it is possible to picture the phenomenon of double prostitution: negotiation of the human being, through labor, and negotiation of sex, the last being dramatically stigmatized and the former strongly encouraged. This may be demonstrating that the paid sex is, in the money-ruled society, a limit of commercialization, widely accepted provided it is camouflaged and surrounded by an aura of sensuality and legitimacy / Neste trabalho realiza-se uma discuss?o sobre a rela??o entre dinheiro e prostitui??o de forma a superar seus aspectos meramente econ?micos, percebendo a ambos como fen?menos sociais, culturais e hist?ricos e tomando-os como s?mbolos, cujo estudo ajuda a desvendar a realidade.
