Este trabalho, realizado entre agosto de dois mil e quatro e março de dois mil e cinco, trata de compreender a partir das análises da historiografia, da noção de pessoa e do sistema econômico - nas formas de produção, distribuição e consumo - o processo de integração dos Mbyá-Guarani, de São Miguel das Missões, Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, à sociedade nacional envolvente, dentro de um contexto de contato interétnico. Com isso, demonstra algumas transformações e tensões, advindas da situação colonial de contato, dentro do sistema cultural tradicional mbyá-guarani.

O aumento da atividade turística e os benefícios que a mesma pode trazer para as pessoas envolvidas nas localidades que possuem atrativos turísticos têm suscitado uma nova reflexão sobre o processo de desenvolvimento local e regional que o turismo produz, pela sua capacidade de gerar renda e divisas para as regiões. Baseada no pressuposto de que o turismo cultural é um agente de desenvolvimento, esta pesquisa foi realizada no município de São Miguel das Missões, no estado do Rio Grande do Sul, município onde reside uma comunidade de índios Guarani Mbya e que possui como atrativo turístico às Ruínas Jesuíticas de São Miguel das Missões, visando conhecer a trajetória de 1988 a 2003 desta comunidade e os benefícios que a mesma possa ter tido em decorrência da atividade turística local. Após a pesquisa percebi que os Guarani consideram a posse das terras e a permanência na reserva do Inhacapetum como uma forma de desenvolvimento e concluí que o turismo agiu no local como um efeito indireto para a posse das terras. No matter the speech related to plans of tourism in the State, emphasizing the social results, I can asseru this wasn t confirmed because the people who live in this region were the main responsible for the benefits reached by the whole Guarani community.

The study attempts to understand by which processes the architect Lucio Costa and the caretaker Hugo Machado, by means of their performances at the remainders, came close at the historiographical operation and acted, each one in his own way, on the Missions narrative building, through the organization and preservation of the related cultural heritage.At a first moment, I present some points of IPHAN’s trajectory attempting to identify aspects that characterize the election and preservation of the cultural heritage in federal level, and which I judge important for the construction of an interpretative frame on the architect and the caretaker actions in São Miguel between 1937 and 1950. After that, I focus the analysis at the performances of Lucio Costa and Hugo Machado, relating them as possible to the construction of a specific narrative on Missions experience, developed by the relationship of different temporalities and by the transit between History and Memory.

Pesquisa exploratória sobre a Interpretação do Patrimônio Cultural de São Miguel das Missões (Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil) no âmbito do Turismo Cultural. Baseou-se em levantamento bibliográfico e documental, visitas in loco , observação e registro dos dados do sítio, e entrevistas com representantes do IPHAN e da Secretaria Municipal de Turismo. Na parte teórica trata de aspectos conceituais de Patrimônio Cultural e da relação entre Turismo e Interpretação desse patrimônio. Na pesquisa de campo, descreve e analisa a ocorrência da interpretação do patrimônio cultural no sítio, com base no modelo de plano de interpretação de Stela Maris Murta e Brian Goodey. Conclui que: não há um plano e as ações interpretativas foram implantadas de forma isolada; há necessidade premente de um adequado planejamento interpretativo cultural e ambiental que vise a preservação do patrimônio, o desenvolvimento do turismo cultural e a sustentabilidade local e regional. On the field research, the work describes and analyses the ocurrency of the interpretation of the cultural heritage on the spot, based on the interpretative model of Stela Maris Murta and Brian Goodey. It concludes that there is not a plan and the interpretative actions were done in an isolated way. There is a real necessity of a specific cultural and environmental interpretative planning towards the preservation of the heritage, the development of the cultural tourism and the local and regional sustentability. Hence, the work proposes, as a contribution, course of actions.
