Identify Improvement Areas in Supply Chain Coordination : An exploratory methodology developmentDeng, Yan January 2012 (has links)
Lean production and Lean philosophy have been developed, studied and implemented over the world since it was know from Toyota Production System. International manufacturers/OEMs have more or less developed their own Lean production systems. Over the years, arising challenges from new technology and internationalization have force the OEMs to understand and evaluate the design of supply chain to support their lean production system, and to manage the SC and compete as a whole against other supply chains. When apply Lean principles to the level of Supply Chain, coordination is an essential element to success. Today, researches have been done on joint efforts on decision making among supply chain actors, and applying Lean tools such as VSM on an extended level, namely a supply chain. Whereas the methods to improve SC coordination when implementing Lean through SC remain undeveloped. By interviewing Lean supply chain experts, experienced personnel in Supply Chain Management, and Lean experts from various organizations, a methodology to identify and visualize the improvement areas in supply chain coordination was designed. The methodology was then tested in a European OEM’s supply chain. Value Stream Mapping, as the base, was adapted to support identification and visualization of improvement areas in supply chain coordination. Several misalignments in the SC coordination were found in the current state, then visualized in current state map and approved by various SC actors. The methodology was then improved according to the process of testing. The purpose of this thesis is to develop a methodology to identify and visualize the improvement areas in (manufacturing) supply chain coordination within a Lean perspective.

Förändringshantering: Tvådimensionella koder - paradigmskifte inom dagligvarubranschen? : En fallstudie om hur processer i dagligvarubranschen påverkas när endimensionell kod ersätts med tvådimensionell kod / Change Management: Two Dimensional Codes - Paradigm Shift Within the Grocery Industry? : A case study about how processes in the grocery industry are affected when one dimensional code is replaced with two dimensional codeWallbäck, Alexandra, Wahlberg, Rebecca January 2021 (has links)
One-dimensional code will be phased out in the grocery industry and replaced with two-dimensional code, something that is considered to lead to a paradigm shift according to GS1. The purpose of the study is to analyze the potential impact the replacement of one-dimensional code to two-dimensional code will have on the order fulfillment process in grocery stores. The change is in turn assumed to affect other processes in the store as well as the direct supply chain. The study had an inductive approach, information from GS1 has been the basis for the theories chosen. A digital interview was conducted to discuss activities that take place in an order fulfillment process. The results from the study showed that the QR code itself will not create a paradigm shift, much will depend on what way organizations benefit from the information that becomes available. QR code will not significantly affect the current activities in the order fulfillment process, the QR code has greater potential to affect activities that are indirectly linked to order fulfillment. Two-dimensional code has the capacity for more information, it can potentially contribute to streamlining of product flows and contribute to business benefits for the members of the supply chain.

Podpora snapshotu a rollbacku pro konfigurační soubory v distribuci Fedora / Snapshot and Rollback Support for Configuration Files in FedoraJežek, Michal January 2008 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to design and implement tools for support of a snapshot and a rollback for configuration files on the GNU/Linux distribution. The set of the tools enables an automatic/periodical saving of the configuration files into the selected placement. The creation of backups reacts to file events by watching the changes with kernel subsystem inotify. Tools are enabling to return to the selected backup. The way of the backup actualization is configurable. This tool permits the data comparison from selected backups, to show the differences in configurations and eventually to manage a merge among actual and selected backup. Tools also allows a comparison of a configurations of one client or configurations among clients, and to display the mutual differences, eventually to manage their merge.

Based on increased pressure on the part of different stakeholders, changed expectations on social issues as well as political frameworks, corporate social responsibility (CSR) gains more importance within the whole process of value add.
Social responsibility extends the limits of the focal enterprise and includes the whole supply chain. The purchasing function is responsible for the important task (within the value add process) to source goods and services from third parties, the suppliers. Often production partners in emerging countries follow different legal and social standards. In order to compensate missing legal requirements and standardized norms, large MNE need to regularly supervise their supply base and secure CSR by themselves.
This doctoral thesis aims to investigate the necessity of the integration of CSR as evaluation criterion in existing processes, with the result to be able to evaluate suitable suppliers for strategic relationships. Therefore based on expert interviews the method „CSR-IndexSA“ is being developed. This CSR-IndexSA allows the suppliers’ evaluation with a self assessment. The method is being proved for its reliability and is being adopted in a large scale empirical study involving numerous suppliers.
The broad statistical analysis of existing evaluation criteria and processes with the measured suppliers’ CSR performance shows the need of the integration of CSR as independent criterion within the supplier evaluation process. The effects on existing processes are proven to be minor. Those results point to further relations between the “classical” criteria for evaluation and various CSR dimensions (e.g. environmental management) and give advice for an improved supplier evaluation. Furthermore CSR risk factors such as company size or region can be identified through the empirical survey.
Long-term partnerships mean an increasingly important success factor in customer supplier relationships. The survey’s results show also that those suppliers who value a strategic relationship as important also have a high rating regarding CSR performance.

Implementation of a WMS through a value co-creation lens : A Qualitative Study Of Valueco-Creation From A Company PerspectiveMendoza Albornoz, Karen, Baldove Orsander, Emerald, Thoong, Isabelle January 2023 (has links)
Background: Today most companies strive to offer logistics services in a highly competitive market. In the ecommerce sector a WMS is a crucial element since these systems can handle different amounts of volumes. Implementing such a system can contribute positively to the value creation. By focusing more on value co-creation rather than the value exchanged, companies can create more effective supply chains that benefit all actors involved. Purpose: The study’s purpose is conducted in partnership with Extenda Retail. The aim is to explore the implementation of a warehouse management system (WMS) from a value co-creation perspective. Based on the purpose two research questions have been formulated: What are the challenges associated with implementing a WMS? Which resources enrich value co-creation in the process of a WMS implementation according to a company's perspective? Method: The study is of a case study with Extenda Retail, and the method of data collection was semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. Results and Analysis: Value co-creation has always been a theory of discussion, with many actors and resources involved. The results emphasized knowledge, skills, customer involvement, user training and testing are factors that both contribute and challenge the value co-creation process. Conclusion: The findings show that applying a value co-creation lens has a significant role in effective warehouse management. Where resources from both company and customers are vital for the success of value co-creation. For example customer involvement, as in feedback, and request. Along with knowledge, and skills to manage a WMS, in the form of user training will ensure that the value of the product may be realized. The challenges identified for the study are as follows, balancing cost and quality, unmotivated customers, misinformation, changes and additions made to the scope. Future research: As our study is mainly focused from a company perspective, we suggest investigating the customer’s perspective and their experiences regarding resources integration, value co-creation and their interactions with their supplier.

Investigation of alternative supplementary cementitious materials and a new method to produce themWeihrauch, Michael 30 August 2022 (has links)
