Vyhledávání výbušnin a nástražných výbušných systémů pomocí psů / Explosive substances and traps searching by the help of dogsHONČÍK, Václav January 2010 (has links)
The one of the dog use scope is explosive substances and booby traps searching. At present, when very often terrorist attacks or threats appear this usage is more and more often. To use the dog for this purpose means the dog has to be trained by means of complex training. In my thesis I have described the basic dog training and another training focused to special activities as the searching of explosive materials and mines is. I did not describe the all dogs basic exercises which the dog must handle safely because this theme is very extensive but only such excercise which I consider as important for explosive materials searching in practises. I have used available literature about dogs training and excercise, expert editorials and guidelines, my own experience with police dogs training and skilled knowledge from workshops and seminar meetings. I have created complex overview the dog preparing and the way of dog training for this special use. I have compared some methods for dogs training and way of excercise used in USA. By means of dogs special training and by means of their use we prevent extraordinary events and we preserve the human life doubtless. The thesis corresponds with another authors similar theses.

Frontex and the right to seek asylum - A critical discourse analysisLópez Åkerblom, Alicia January 2015 (has links)
The European Union’s border control agency, Frontex, was established in 2004. Since its founding it has received ongoing critique from international human rights organizations stating that it prevents people from claiming their right to seek asylum. Therefore, the aim of this study is to understand how Frontex legitimizes its approach to the management of the union’s external borders in relation to the right to seek asylum. The theoretical framework of the thesis consist of Michel Foucault’s theories of power and knowledge structures in institutional discourse, which helps understand how the discourse is determined by power relations and consequently how Frontex legitimizes its work. A critical discourse analysis was conducted following Norman Fairclough’s three-dimensional model. The model consist of a text analysis, an interpretation and a contextualization of the text. The material analyzed is a report produced by Frontex to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. The results show that Frontex describes its relation to human rights with words that have a positive connotation such as ‘protect’ and ‘respect’, and at the same time aim to legitimize its work in technical terms of ‘development’ and ‘effectiveness’. The results indicate that the knowledge produced in the report dehumanizes migrants and asylum seekers in order for Frontex to treat migration as a legal and technical issue. Furthermore, Frontex partially legitimizes its work by regularly referring to the UN and other NGO’s while emphasizing their previous support of the institution’s work. These power relations influence how Frontex chooses to discursively legitimize its work in respect to human rights. The results of this study only reflect Frontex’s legitimization in the aforementioned report and cannot be generalized to the whole institution. However, it contributes to the knowledge which may improve the situation for those in need to exercise their right to seek asylum.

Optimal Design Of Truss Structures With ActuatorsAkgoz, Asli 01 December 2003 (has links) (PDF)
Smart structures become highly popular with the developing technology. The aim of this study is to develop a basic model, which can be also used in the design of more complex systems by performing simultaneous optimization of a structure and associated controller with respect to some design parameters and feedback gains.
In this thesis work, two smart structures are used as case studies and their results are compared with the available results in the literature. The first case study is simple twobar
truss problem controlled by either one or two actuators. This problem is solved both numerically and analytically. The latter is a twenty-element parabolic truss, which is controlled by four actuators. This problem is solved numerically only.
In the optimization process, the design parameters are taken as the cross sectional areas of bar elements, positions and/or number of actuators, and the elements of closed loop gain matrix. In the second case study, in addition to these parameters, shape design parameters are also optimized.
A coordinate transformation is applied in both cases from the displacement space to the modal space. The modal model reduction method is used in the design of second problem.
The optimization goal in both cases studies is to minimize the system energy while satisfying some frequency and mass constraints. In the second case study, in addition
to the original objective function, system controllability and stability robustness are also maximized.
In the solution of design problem, two optimization algorithms are used one embedded within the other. In the outer loop, a hide and seek simulated annealing algorithm optimizes structural design parameters, and positions and/or number of
actuators. In order to generate a candidate design family for this level, optimal closed loop gain matrices are calculated by using MATLAB® / .

Unga vuxnas upplevelse av sjuksköterskans bemötande av psykisk ohälsa vid kontakt med hälso- och sjukvården - en litteraturöversikt / Young adults' experience of the nurse's treatment of mental illness in contact with health services - A literature reviewNydelius, Anette January 2015 (has links)
Background: Young adults who seek care usually seek not for mental illness, but rather something somatic. It is important to get the younger adults to seek out health care when needed and facilitate a good relationship between healthcare and young adults. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to gain an insight into how the young adults turning to the care and nurses' awareness of how little confidence built up in these patients. Method: The study was conducted as a literature survey. Results: For the young adults, it is not easy to come into care at the right level of care if the person does not come into contact with a nurse who has a holistic approach. The care for the young with mental illness should be available and the information about the accessibility needs are constantly repeated. Conclusion: It is important that nurses have knowledge and experience of young psychic people in order to help those with mental illness when seeking care. The relationship between the patient and the nurse is of great importance for the continued contact with the care for the young adults. It is important that they feel trust and confidence.

On-Disk Sequence Cache (ODSC): Using Excess Disk Capacity to Increase PerformanceSlade, Christopher Ryan 14 September 2005 (has links) (PDF)
We present an on-disk sequence cache (ODSC), which improves disk drive performance. An ODSC uses a separate disk partition to store disk data in the order that the operating system requests it. Storing data in this order reduces the amount of seeking that the disk drive must do. As a result, the average disk access time is reduced. Reducing the disk access time improves the performance of the system, especially when booting the operating system, loading applications, and when main memory is limited. Experiments show that our ODSC speeds up application loads by as much as 413%. Our ODSC also reduces the disk access time of the Linux boot by 396%, and speeds up a Linux kernel make by 28%. We also show that an ODSC improves performance when main memory is limited.

Asylrättens innebörd i internationell rätt / The meaning of the right to asylum in international lawSahlin Karlsson, Rebecca January 2019 (has links)
One of the most politically debated questions in the world today is how a country should respond to migrants and people who seek refugee within it’s borders. Also in the field of law there are different view about what the right of asylum really means. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the right of asylum in international law. Is the right of asylum a territorial right of states to grant asylum? Is it a right for refugees to seek asylum? Or a right for refugees to receive asylum? Wheater or not the right has the status of customary international law will also be discussed. In one part of the paper the ethical concerns behind the right of asylum will be examined and also applied in a legal context, in the determination of the customary status of the rigt. The conclusion is that the right of asylum in international law includes a territorial right for states to grant asylum, a right for individuals to seek asylum and probably also a right to obtain asylum. All these aspects of the right also seems to be part of customary international law.
