The purpose of this essay is to examine how the adventure is accomplished as a project, and how this is vindicated, through science or by other means. The scientists of today are not seen as adventurers or heroes, at least not as they used to, but this image lives on as a sort of role or social institution, that can be used by anyone and in any purpose. These roles could be seen as a type of rules for the modern adventurer, and act both as a limit or a possibility. This essay compares two North Pole travelers, Ola Skinnarmo and Salomon August Andrée. / Denna uppsats syfte är att undersöka hur man genomför äventyret som ett projekt och hur detta legitimeras, genom vetenskap eller på annat sätt. Vetenskapsmännen ses idag inte som äventyrare eller hjältar, i alla fall inte på samma sätt som förr, men den bilden lever kvar i form av en "rollbeskrivning" eller en sorts "social institution" som kan användas av vem som helst och i alla möjliga syften. Dessa"rollbeskrivningar"skulle kunna ses som en sorts "spelregler" för dagens moderna äventyrare och verka både begränsande och möjliggörande. I uppsatsen jämförs två polarfarare, Ola Skinnarmo och Salomon August Andrée, och deras respektive expeditioner.

Jahrhundert auf der einen Seite Mendelssohns musikalische und ästhetische Haltung fortwirken lassen wollte, wie er sich jedoch andererseits bereits vorsichtig von gewissen Aspekten des Mendelssohnschen Komponierens distanzierte. Treatises upon musical forms and instrumentation, written by Mendelssohn’s successors at the conservatoire show how the teachers on the one hand try to continue Mendelssohn’s compositional attitude and on the other hand try to part themselves from certain aspects of Mendelssohn’s music.

Der Notenbogen-Entdeckerpass für Kinder und Jugendliche, der Möglichkeiten eröffnet, zu jüdischen Musikern in Leipzig zu forschen, Neues zu entdecken, der Notenspur zu folgen und viele weitere Impulse gibt, steht seit einiger Zeit zur Verfügung. Nun gilt es, die Kinder und Jugendlichen zu unterstützen, sowohl im schulischen Kontext als auch durch Freizeiteinrichtungen, bei denen die kulturelle Bildung im Mittelpunkt steht. Zum Entdeckerpass gibt es jetzt die vorliegende Handreichung. Sie beinhaltet didaktische Hinweise für ausgewählte Stationen, zahlreiche Arbeitsblätter als Kopiervorlagen für Schülerinnen und Schüler, Stadtrallyes mit handlungsorientierten Aufgaben für eine Exkursion oder einen Projekttag. Ebenso enthalten sind ein Lernquiz und Arbeitsblätter mit vertiefenden Quellen zum entdeckenden, biografischen Lernen für vier ausgewählte jüdische Musiker, die alle einen Bezug zu Leipzig hatten. Die handlungsorientierten Aufgaben, unter anderem kreative Ideen für Gedenktafeln, Straßeninterviews, fiktive Stadtführungen, dienen nicht nur der Wissensreproduktion, sondern haben das Ziel, eine Auseinandersetzung und Reflexion zu befördern. Somit kann auf das umfassende und vielfältige Angebot der Stadt Leipzig zugegriffen werden und die Nutzer erleben eine lebendige und partizipative Erinnerungskultur.

Ce mémoire propose de mettre en lumière les particularités langagières des protagonistes d’Adieu Gary Cooper et de L’angoisse du roi Salomon de Romain Gary et les implications de celles-ci tant sur le plan diégétique que sur celui de la lecture. En examinant d’abord, par le biais de la sémiotique, Jean et Lenny, les protagonistes des deux romans, et en questionnant ensuite les caractéristiques propres à leur langage, cette étude tentera de dégager le métadiscours des deux romans portant sur le pouvoir des mots (chapitre 1). Elle cherche également à comprendre comment les deux protagonistes, en transformant le parler normatif, réussissent à accepter l’échec de leurs programmes narratifs et à quitter des situations oppressantes (chapitre 2). Ultimement, l’analyse en arrive à montrer que c’est par un effet de contamination du langage des autres que les personnages finissent par se sortir de positions aliénantes (chapitre 3). Alors que la critique s’est essentiellement concentrée sur les aspects thématiques de l’oeuvre garyenne, cette recherche souligne l’intérêt d’une étude stylistique pour les romans portant la signature de « Romain Gary ».

The dissertation focuses on the decoration of 16th century choral manuscripts. The first part is devoted to the person of Jan Táborský of Klokotská Hora (1499-1572) who was a scribe and an owner of a scribe manufactory, and to the most significant illuminators of the the 16th century who contributed to the decoration of songbooks in the Lands of the Bohemian Crown. Attention is given not only to the illuminators to whom Jan Táborský of Klokotská Hora assigned the work and whose contribution can be inferred from the documents or stylistic analysis of their illuminations, but also to their contemporaries. Besides the frequently mentioned Fabián Puléř, we can assume that Jan Taborský also collaborated with Matouš Ornys of Lindperk, Matyáš Hutský of Křivoklát, Ambrož Ledecký and, presumably, others. In this context, one part of the thesis is focused on engravings by Martin Schongauer, Albrecht Dürer, Bernard Salomon and on the domestic prints by George Melantrich the Elder, as these engravings, mostly woodcuts, served as patterns and inspiration for almost every Bohemian illuminator. The first International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) was held in Zurich in 1897, setting the standards for all future ICMs. Whilst giving an overview of the congress itself, this thesis focuses on the Swiss organisers, who were predominantly university professors and secondary school teachers. As this thesis aims to offer some insight into their lives, it includes their biographies, highlighting their individual contributions to the congress. Furthermore, it explains why Zurich was chosen as the first host city and how the committee proceeded with the congress organisation. Two of the main organisers were the Swiss geometers Carl Friedrich Geiser (1843-1934) and Ferdinand Rudio (1856-1929). In addition to the congress, they also made valuable contributions to mathematical education, and in Rudio's case, the history of mathematics. Therefore, this thesis focuses primarily on these two mathematicians. As for Geiser, the relationship to his great-uncle Jakob Steiner is explained in more detail. Furthermore, his contributions to the administration of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology are summarised. Due to the overarching theme of mathematical education and collaborations in this thesis, Geiser's schoolbook "Einleitung in die synthetische Geometrie" is considered in more detail and Geiser's methods are highlighted. A selection of Rudio's contributions to the history of mathematics is studied as well. His book "Archimedes, Huygens, Lambert, Legendre" is analysed and compared to E W Hobson's treatise "Squaring the Circle". Furthermore, Rudio's papers relating to the commentary of Simplicius on quadratures by Antiphon and Hippocrates are considered, focusing on Rudio's translation of the commentary and on "Die Möndchen des Hippokrates". The thesis concludes with an analysis of Rudio's popular lectures "Leonhard Euler" and "Über den Antheil der mathematischen Wissenschaften an der Kultur der Renaissance", which are prime examples of his approach to the history of mathematics.
