De "faire du judo" à "faire judo" : approche ethnographique d’une pratique de haut-niveau par la culture matérielle / From "do judo" to "make judo" : ethnographic approach of a high level practice by the material cultureHilpron, Michaël 11 January 2012 (has links)
Judo, the result of the sportification of jūdō* (a method developed in 1882 by J. Kano), is an institutionalized sport, not a martial art. By offering jūdō* to Sharing, Kano established a practice which was to be broadcasted worldwide. When referring to the dynamic analysis of globalization (Appadurai, 2001), judo is studied on a global (doing judo), local (doing a judo) and physical scale (making judo). Do judo is a matrix, common to all judokas around the world, which enables its members to identify each other, and also to distinguish themselves. The anthropological problematic of Sharing (Candau, 2000) shows how groups appropriate the judo specifically. Do a judo refers to the judo appropriated by a group, based on the socio-cultural context that acts as a filter, which enables them to adapt the matrix in order to adopt it. The comparison between judo practice in Orleans and "the Tenri" style illustrates how motor cultures are contextually built through specific material cultures. The dōjō* is designed as a network of actions in response to other people's actions and highlights the way judokas incorporate objects and shape themselves (as they are shaped by) through their relation to material and people. Make judo is the physical and personalized synthesis of the practice. Through contact with others, the judoka learns how to do judo: he integrates the material, masters matrix techniques and combines them in order to create his own system of attack and defence. A sensitive ethnography describes how objects that are integrated in an action are both substrates and effectors of the self-construction of the judoka. Finally, an ergonomic study of the training of the judokas and of the transmission of skills and expertise has been conducted. The aim is to introduce a sensory praxeological pedagogy into the teaching of judo in order to enhance interaction in the learning process.

Politické konexe ve veřejných zakázkách: analýza nabídkové strany / Political connections in public procurement: a supply side analysisPočarovský, Jiří January 2014 (has links)
1 Abstract The public procurement market that accounts for a significant share of the Czech GDP represents an institution of high rent-seeking motive and corruption potential. Donations to political parties can be used as an indirect linkage between political parties and firms as potential suppliers of public contracts. We analyse whether connections and donations influence the number of supplied contracts, volume of supplied contracts and the number of bidders in the tendering process. Furthermore the impact of donations and connections on firms' performance and profitability is assessed. We identify significant effects on number of contracts, volume of contracts, dependence on revenues from contracts and number of bidders of both giving donations and history of employing a politically active person.

Molekulární aspekty kalcio-fosfátového metabolizmu u ledvinových komplikací diabetu mellitus. / Molecular aspects of calcium-phosphate metabolism in renal complications of diabetes mellitus.Šimáková, Eva January 2012 (has links)
Introduction: This thesis deals with the calcium-phosphate metabolism and its role in the development of chronic diabetic complications. It examines calcium sensitive receptor, which can be crucial in affecting calcium metabolism. Calcium-sensitive receptor may play a role in intracellular signaling and metabolic pathways that lead to cell proliferation and extracellular matrix early diabetic nephropathy. We investigated two polymorphisms of the gene for calcium-sensitive receptor (intron 4 and codon 990). Material and Methods: The study included 313 diabetic patients, 41 patients with type 1 diabetes, 106 patients with type 2 diabetes, 110 diabetic patients with type 2 diabetes who had diabetic nephropathy and 56 patients with renal failure non-diabetic (NDRD). It was also examined 72 non-diabetic patients with chronic renal failure (CKD) and 96 healthy blood donors (ZK). Classification of diagnoses is listed in the theory. DNA was isolated by QIAamp DNA Blood Mini Kit and salting method. The specific fragments of gene for the CaSR were amplified by PCR. For detection, restriction fragment length polymorphism and TaqMan probes were used. The expression levels of mRNA were determined by real-time PCR. Results: For the codon 990 polymorphism, we found statistical significance of the genotype frequencies (AA,...

The Circle of Mind and Heart: Integrating Waldorf Education, Indigenous Epistemologies, and Critical PedagogyMunoz, Joaquin, Munoz, Joaquin January 2016 (has links)
This dissertation examines the potential congruencies and complementarities of Waldorf education, Culturally Relevant Pedagogy (CRP), Culturally Responsive Schooling (CRS), Critical Pedagogy and Native American and Indigenous education. Waldorf education, a German education reform developed in the early 1920s, is a little researched schooling system, and previous research on this reform has examined its impacts within its traditional contexts, namely, private schools. At the same time, significant literature exists which addresses the importance and efficacy of reforms for students of color such as those in CRP, CRS and Critical Pedagogy. There is also a body of work which points to key pedagogical components which support Native American/Indigenous students in school. This dissertation examines the interplay between all three of these complex systems by examining attempts to integrate them in the classroom. By examining Waldorf education initiatives in three distinct contexts, I demonstrate that these reforms can work in concert without diminishing the efficacy of any of them. I explore three distinct contexts of Waldorf education. The first examined the impacts of Waldorf education on students who participated in the reform in a private Waldorf school, who transitioned to more traditional, mainstream classes. I conducted participant-observation of a local Waldorf school and in-depth interviews with 14 alumni to explore the impact of this reform. In the second context, I examined how students responded to the use of Waldorf-inspired methods in a community college course I taught, and I investigated their experiences of the reform. Seven students who participated were interviewed in order to investigate the impact of these reforms on their experience as college students. These interviews were complemented by teacher-research I conducted while teaching this Waldorf-inspired course. Finally, I explored the potential of Waldorf education as a reform for Native American students, examining my own incorporation of this reform with other pedagogical tools, such as CRP, CRS, and other forms of critical pedagogy. Included in this section of research are my reflections on a course I instructed with Waldorf-inspired reforms. I also explored various accounts of Waldorf-education reforms by tribal communities, like the Lakota Waldorf School in South Dakota. Several findings from the research conducted here are encouraging. Students from Waldorf school environments demonstrate critical skills and critique schooling environments, invoking stances familiar to critical pedagogues. Students from a Waldorf-inspired community college course were also critical of the typical schooling experiences they had encountered, and spoke of the enriching feeling in their Waldorf-inspired course. Investigation into the philosophical tenets of Waldorf education and Native American/Indigenous epistemologies shows several examples of overlap and similarity, the most striking being elements of spiritual belief and practice as foundational to Native American/Indigenous well-being, and the ability of Waldorf education to address this. While these fields may appear unrelated, this study explores the praxis of these seemingly disparate bodies of work, by examining their similarities and differences. Ultimately, I argue that these reforms can work in concert to support the academic success of culturally and linguistically diverse students and Native American/Indigenous students in particular. The research in these three contexts demonstrates need for further investigation into Waldorf education and its potential to support students of all backgrounds.

Development of pH- and temperature-sensitive microgel particles: synthesis monitoring, characterisation and application as potential oral carriers. Souza, Esmar Faben 12 April 2019 (has links)
Multi-sensitive microgel particles are covalently crosslinked polymeric chains with a colloidal dimension that can rapidly change their volume through various external stimuli such as pH, ionic strength, temperature, and magnetic and electric field. Due to these characteristics, increasing attention has been focus on the development of multi-sensitive microgels, mainly for application as drug delivery carriers. This study aimed to synthesise pH- and temperature-sensitive microgel particles, based on precipitation polymerisation of N-isopropylacrylamide and acrylic acid, with a defined size, narrow size distribution, spherical morphology and colloidal stability to be used as an oral drug carrier. In order to provide better biocompatibility and biodegradability in the synthesised material, some assays were performed, adding the chitosan biopolymer during the polymerisation of the monomers previously mentioned. This thesis also intended to contribute to a better understanding of the relationship between the microgel synthesis and their properties using spectroscopic techniques to monitor the microgel formation. A new approach was proposed to monitoring the process variables, monomer conversion and average particle size of the microgel particles, during precipitation polymerisation using NIR and UV-VIS-NIR high-resolution spectrophotometers coupled with a probe. Besides, the influence of reaction conditions in the physicochemical characteristics of microgel particles was extensively investigated as well as their potential as an oral drug carrier for insulin. The monitoring results pointed out the enormous potential of these spectroscopy techniques to monitor the precipitation polymerisation process, allowing control over the polymerisation reaction with quickly and directly acquisition of data in real-time. In general, pH- and temperature-sensitive microgels were successfully synthesised, and many formulations showed to be suitable for application as oral drug carriers. However, the preliminary in vitro release results were not satisfactory, and a more in-depth study between the interaction of the drug with the particles as well as the method of release is recommended. In conclusion, with a proper understanding of the influence of the process conditions (e.g., reagent concentrations) on the physicochemical properties of the microgels, it is possible to tailor the multi-sensitive microgels for the desired application.

Silicon nanowire field-effect transistors for the detection of proteinsMädler, Carsten 05 November 2016 (has links)
In this dissertation I present results on our efforts to increase the sensitivity and selectivity of silicon nanowire ion-sensitive field-effect transistors for the detection of biomarkers, as well as a novel method for wireless power transfer based on metamaterial rectennas for their potential use as implantable sensors. The sensing scheme is based on changes in the conductance of the semiconducting nanowires upon binding of charged entities to the surface, which induces a field-effect. Monitoring the differential conductance thus provides information of the selective binding of biological molecules of interest to previously covalently linked counterparts on the nanowire surface.
In order to improve on the performance of the nanowire sensing, we devised and fabricated a nanowire Wheatstone bridge, which allows canceling out of signal drift due to thermal fluctuations and dynamics of fluid flow. We showed that balancing the bridge significantly improves the signal-to-noise ratio. Further, we demonstrated the sensing of novel melanoma biomarker TROY at clinically relevant concentrations and distinguished it from nonspecific binding by comparing the reaction kinetics. For increased sensitivity, an amplification method was employed using an enzyme which catalyzes a signal-generating reaction by changing the redox potential of a redox pair. In addition, we investigated the electric double layer, which forms around charges in an electrolytic solution. It causes electrostatic screening of the proteins of interest, which puts a fundamental limitation on the biomarker detection in solutions with high salt concentrations, such as blood. We solved the coupled Nernst-Planck and Poisson equations for the electrolyte under influence of an oscillating electric field and discovered oscillations of the counterion concentration at a characteristic frequency.
In addition to exploring different methods for improved sensing capabilities, we studied an innovative method to supply power to implantable biosensors wirelessly, eliminating the need for batteries. A metamaterial split ring resonator is integrated with a rectifying circuit for efficient conversion of microwave radiation to direct electrical power. We studied the near-field behavior of this rectenna with respect to distance, polarization, power, and frequency. Using a 100 mW microwave power source, we demonstrated operating a simple silicon nanowire pH sensor with light indicator.

Corpo e presença na Bíblia Sagrada / Body and presence in The Holy BibleCardoso, Dario de Araujo 25 August 2017 (has links)
In this thesis we have specified the mechanisms of production of meaning that put The Holy Bible as discourse making it the Revealed Word of God. We show how the biblical text, as utterance marked by person, time and space set, builds for itself the sense of omni personal, omni temporal and omni spatial speech promoting the process of signification and residence that qualifies it as a founding text of Christianity. We defend the thesis that the biblical text put in discourse in a peculiar way the divine world and his actors and it produces, in terms of a presence, an impact that mobilizes the enunciatary, as sensitive body, to make the interpretive act that sanctions and receive the knowledge submited as Revealed Word of God. In this way, the discourse promotes a transformation in the epistemic state of enunciatary and demand a cognitive and ethical response guided by Christian axiology. We discuss the formation and delimitation of the actorial body in biblical narrative from the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. Using the concept of narrativity of enunciation, we demonstrate that, by means of the enunciate enunciation, this texts builds a peculiar enunciative scene in which the enunciator is the subject of a performance. This performance sets up the divine world where God is the arquienunciator and the Transcendent Destinador. This movement promotes the establishment of a peculiar veridiction contract that makes the supernatural to be installed as the expectation of the genre and the means of setting and confirming the divine presence. That actancial displacement of the enunciator to a destinator compatible with the Revealed Word is based on the greimasian concept of Transcendent Destinador. The moviments of minning done on the discourse of the Revealed Word permeate the greimasian semiotics and from the instrumental of the tensive semiotics, we describe the subjectals effects promoted by the constructed discourse of the divine presence in the biblical text. We demonstrate that the chaining of narrative programs promotes an astonishment-resolution rhythm that keeps the tension and the sensitive impact throughout the text. Its a rhythm who generates also in the enunciatary an effort in search of affective reorganization described as a sensibilized exercise that holds the transformation of the epistemic status of the subject. Finally, we understant to have confirm that is possible e viable to examine the Bible as a discourse among others, for what we show that this epistemic transformation is the basis for a series of cognitive and ethical changes that support Christian practices like reading the Bible, the memorization of passages, participating in Bible studies and sermons and the dissemination of Christian content and of ethics to non-believers.

Classificação de espécies arbóreas em função da tolerância ao alagamento e preparo de solo para restauração de florestas paludosas / Tree species classification based on flooding tolerance and soil preparation for the restoration of wetlandsBettinardi, Mariana Luzia 22 April 2014 (has links)
From agriculture to the industry, water is an essential resource for humanity. It is also the scarcest resource at the present time and it will be scarcer in the next years. The protection of water resources is of most importance to ensure humanity\'s well-being. Thus, projects aiming at the restoration of springs and riparian forests are being carried out around the world. In this context, hydrologically sensitive areas (HSA) of the river basins are the most important sites for water resources provision. However, water table dynamics causes water saturation of the soil in these areas, imposing barriers to recuperation and discouraging restoration practice and research. In this context, this study aims to analyze strategies for the ecological restoration of HSA. We carried out nursery tests to assess the hydrological saturation tolerance of 15 tree species typical from wetlands and used a non-typical species as control. Species were evaluated based on height and diameter at soil height increase, survival, development of morphological responses and the possible relation of the latter with growth rates. The cluster analysis classified species in groups based on five hydrological saturation tolerance levels, pointing that, for most species, higher hydrological saturation levels results in lower tolerance to this stress. An analysis of variance and Tukey test identified which species presented morphological characteristics (lenticels hypertrophy and adventitious roots) and the morphological indicators were compared among the clustered groups; this analysis demonstrated that such morphological responses are associated to the species adaptation for both survival and growth in saturated conditions. Two field experiments were also carried out aiming to test soil preparation that could favor seedling establishment and growth. An analysis of variance and Tukey test was carried out to test the effects of soil preparation on seedling height and diameter at soil height growth and survival. Additionally, we carried out a cluster analysis to separate species into groups containing functional characteristics that may favor restoration projects. We observed that soil preparation techniques, in small scale, had no influence on the establishment and development of seedlings typical of HSA and that the selection of species that are tolerant to hydrological saturation at different levels is the most important factor for restoration of these environments. Thus, restoration projects in wetlands should give special attention for the selection of species adapted to these conditions, which is more determinant for restoration success than soil preparation. Future studies should focus in identifying species functional groups that could be used to restore these areas.

Procedures for mitigation of impact of power quality in the textile industry.Motoki, Edison Massao 15 May 2007 (has links)
The increasing evolution of technology in the current industrial processes, as well as the high interaction degree of equipment items and processes, have caused the increase in their sensitivity to voltage variations. The increase of sensitivity in some industrial loads generates interruptions in the industrial production. That happens due to power quality problems, which causes many undesired effects to the industries, such as losses in production, invoicing and raw material, unreasonable use of energy, among others. A textile process presents large production losses whenever these events in the process occur. This dissertation presents a sequence of technical procedures adopted experimentally in two yarn plants, to mitigate and reduce the impact of power quality problems in the chemical textile plant. The problem of power quality studied was short duration voltage variations, specifically the voltage sags. These events lead to a big volume of loss in the process, by operational disruption of sensitivity loads provoked by the voltage sags. By means of the proposed procedures it was possible to identify the critical load, in this case the ASD (Adjustable Speed Drive), a kind of load used extensively in the textile process; once identified this load, it was possible to carry out interventions aiming at the reduction of loads sensitivities. Two experiences were realized through a panel that simulated the process, by applying voltage sags to the drivers - ASD (Adjustable Speed Drive). Besides that other research works surveyed to complement and conclude this dissertation. The interventions realized have had as consequence the improvement in the product quality, increasing productivity, as well as an excellent payback.
