Explorando a justiça organizacional, burnout e saúde nos servidores da UFSM / Exploring the organizational justice, health and burnout in servers UFSM.

Schuster, Marcelo da Silva 14 June 2013 (has links)
The transformation of the organizational environment in recent decades, have directly impacted employees, their perceptions about the distribution of resources or tasks or how they are treated during this process can create stress in the workplace. When this stress occurs in a prolonged and chronic, can lead to emotional exhaustion of workers, which can generate forms of shutdown of the site and the people you work with, often resulting in various health problems. Such problems are perceived as indicators absenteeism, withdrawal for health care, personal conflicts, etc.., Resulting in loss of productivity for the organization. Thus, this study aims to answer the following research question: What is the impact of organizational justice and Burnout levels in the health of the public servant UFSM? For this we used descriptive study method, a quantitative approach to data collection through structured questionnaire based on validated instruments related to Burnout (Maslach, 1996, 2003) and Organizational Justice (Colquitt, 2001). The sample consisted of 511 participants, 57.3% female and 42.7% male, 63% of those in positions of administrative, 23.6% related to health and 13.4% are linked to teaching . It was evident that the servers have moderate levels of Burnout (1.5), and the female who has the highest rates of Burnout in the institution, Perceived Organizational Justice also found in the average level (3.91), even compared to organizational justice differences were found between the manning of the servers, who works with the Dean has linked lower average. With respect to the study hypotheses, H1: Organizational Justice positive impact on perceived health; H2: The level of Burnout negatively influence the perceived health of the servers; H3: The greater the Organizational Justice Minor Level of Burnout in Servers, all were confirmed, through tests of correlation and regression. Is possible to conclude that with the increase in organizational justice perception levels of Burnout on servers UFSM decrease by 26.7%. When the Burnout level servers increase their health perception decreases in the proportion of 8% and when the perceived Organizational Justice increases the perceived health of servers increases to a level of 5%. As a suggestion is the development of training and interpersonal relationships to all servers, especially those who are in management positions, to address aspects of interactional justice, in addition to the completion of scaling in the university to address aspects of procedural and distributive justice.

Secure remote access to a work environment

Bergvall, Ricardo January 2021 (has links)
This project is about how free, open-source tools can create reasonable, secure and flexible remote access solutions for smaller companies with a limited budget.  Secure remote access to a working environment is a solution for its time, as last year Covid-19 change the working environment for millions of employers and employees. The importance of secure remote access to a working environment became noticeable as offices closed down and employers started working from home. Still, the need for secure access to the company's infrastructure remains. This is where Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) enter the picture, as it has a broad application scope and is particularly useful for secure remote access. My project was subdivided into three parts: How to implement secure remote access to a working environment within the requirements of the chosen company, which are an inexpensive solution with high-security features.  Automate the creation and distribution of all the necessary parts that their employees will need in a VPN structure. Research about the future direction regarding VPN and the importance of cybersecurity to help ensure security preparedness for the company. The chosen solution was OpenVPN and Google authenticator, together with a written bash script. It became a solution that was free, flexible, secure and scalable. But why the need and what about the future?  Research shows that a high percentage of small and medium-sized enterprises are vulnerable to cyberattacks. It also shows that these companies have the lowest cybersecurity. "It wouldn't happen to us" is dangerous but, sadly, a typical mindset throughout the S&M companies. It's primarily because of this S&M's are more exposed than larger companies. The future of VPN's has become more important than ever before, and it's something that during Covid-19 has risen in use all over the world, the research and development of VPNs has accelerated. The research objectives of this project are of high interest to many other organizations in the same position, and the presented work has helped answer the question: "Where will we stand in a few years regarding secure remote work, cybersecurity andencrypted networks?"

Content Aware Request Distribution for High Performance Web Service: A Performance Study

Jones, Robert M. 01 July 2002 (has links)
The World Wide Web is becoming a basic infrastructure for a variety of services, and the increases in audience size and client network bandwidth create service demands that are outpacing server capacity. Web clusters are one solution to this need for highperformance, highly available web server systems. We are interested in load distribution techniques, specifically Layer-7 algorithms that are content-aware. Layer- 7 algorithms allow distribution control based on the specific content requested, which is advantageous for a system that offers highly heterogenous services. We examine the performance of the Client Aware Policy (CAP) on a Linux/Apache web cluster consisting of a single web switch that directs requests to a pool of dual-processor SMP nodes. We show that the performance advantage of CAP over simple algorithms such as random and round-robin is as high as 29% on our testbed consisting of a mixture of static and dynamic content. Under heavily loaded conditions however, the performance decreases to the level of random distribution. In studying SMP vs. uniprocessor performance using the same number of processors with CAP distribution, we find that SMP dual-processor nodes under moderate workload levels provide equivalent throughput as the same number of CPU’s in a uniprocessor cluster. As workload increases to a heavily loaded state however, the SMP cluster shows reduced throughput compared to a cluster using uniprocessor nodes. We show that the web cluster’s maximum throughput increases linearly with the addition of more nodes to the server pool. We conclude that CAP is advantageous over random or round-robin distribution under certain conditions for highly dynamic workloads, and suggest some future enhancements that may improve its performance.

Resource optimization of edge servers dealing with priority-based workloads by utilizing service level objective-aware virtual rebalancing

Shahid, Amna 08 August 2023 (has links) (PDF)
IoT enables profitable communication between sensor/actuator devices and the cloud. Slow network causing Edge data to lack Cloud analytics hinders real-time analytics adoption. VRebalance solves priority-based workload performance for stream processing at the Edge. BO is used in VRebalance to prioritize workloads and find optimal resource configurations for efficient resource management. Apache Storm platform was used with RIoTBench IoT benchmark tool for real-time stream processing. Tools were used to evaluate VRebalance. Study shows VRebalance is more effective than traditional methods, meeting SLO targets despite system changes. VRebalance decreased SLO violation rates by almost 30% for static priority-based workloads and 52.2% for dynamic priority-based workloads compared to hill climbing algorithm. Using VRebalance decreased SLO violations by 66.1% compared to Apache Storm's default allocation.

Generalised analytic queueing network models. The need, creation, development and validation of mathematical and computational tools for the construction of analytic queueing network models capturing more critical system behaviour.

Almond, John January 1988 (has links)
Modelling is an important technique in the comprehension and management of complex systems. Queueing network models capture most relevant information from computer system and network behaviour. The construction and resolution of these models is constrained by many factors. Approximations contain detail lost for exact solution and/or provide results at lower cost than simulation. Information at the resource and interactive command level is gathered with monitors under ULTRIX'. Validation studies indicate central processor service times are highly variable on the system. More pessimistic predictions assuming this variability are in part verified by observation. The utility of the Generalised Exponential (GE) as a distribution parameterised by mean and variance is explored. Small networks of GE service centres can be solved exactly using methods proposed for Generalised Stochastic Petri Nets. For two centre. systems of GE type a new technique simplifying the balance equations is developed. A very efficient "building bglloocbka"l. is presented for exactly solving two centre systems with service or transfer blocking, Bernoulli feedback and load dependent rate, multiple GE servers. In the tandem finite buffer algorithm the building block illustrates problems encountered modelling high variability in blocking networks. ': . _. A parametric validation study is made of approximations for single class closed networks of First-Come-First-Served (FCFS) centres with general service times. The multiserver extension using the building block is validated. Finally the Maximum Entropy approximation is extended to FCFS centres with multiple chains and implemented with computationally efficient convolution.

Lehner, Wolfgang, Kwon, Yong Sik, Lee, Juchang, Färber, Franz, Muehle, Michael, Lee, Chulwon, Bensberg, Christian, Lee, Joo Yeon, Lee, Arthur H. 12 January 2023 (has links)
One of the core principles of the SAP HANA database system is the comprehensive support of distributed query facility. Supporting scale-out scenarios was one of the major design principles of the system from the very beginning. Within this paper, we first give an overview of the overall functionality with respect to data allocation, metadata caching and query routing. We then dive into some level of detail for specific topics and explain features and methods not common in traditional disk-based database systems. In summary, the paper provides a comprehensive overview of distributed query processing in SAP HANA database to achieve scalability to handle large databases and heterogeneous types of workloads.

Utilização do ErgoParser em arquivos de log para determinação de métricas de usabilidade de websites / ErgoParser utilization in log files to obtain website usability metrics

Cerrato, Marcus Vinicius 17 December 2012 (has links)
Usability is a valuable requirement for Information Systems products. Usability evaluation is increasingly becoming an important part of software development process. The objective of this work is to propose an approach for supporting usability evaluation of web systems by analyzing log files of web servers. The methodology developed in this work is to filter log files, to capture the tasks performed, and compare with a model describing the possible tasks to be performed on a website. The tasks performed are described by web resources essential to the fulfillment of these tasks. The usability metrics obtained by this process can indicate possible usability problems. More detailed usability evaluation methods may be applied to verify whether or not these problems do occur. Furthermore, comparison of metrics identifies how positive some changes were with respect to the effectiveness and the efficiency of the interaction with the website in evaluation. This work resulted in the development of a tool that receives a log file relating to a website, filter content, according to web pages related tasks previously registered, and calculate metrics that quantify the usability of the evaluated website.

"Filas paralelas com servidores heterogêneos e jockeying probabilístico" / Parallel queues with heterogeneous servers and probabilistics jockeying

Ferrari, Sidney Carlos 23 August 2002 (has links)
We consider a parallel queueing system with three exponential heterogeneous servers where is allowed jockey among queues with no obligation and the customers may choose for it with an occurrence probability after they have been analyzed two aspects: the difference between involved lines lenght in jockeying and the neighborhood degree among them. The effect of this study is a general equation which represents the system. The M/(M/1)3 system with probabilistc jockeying has a smaller idleness than the traditional M/Mi/3 fed from a single queue. We also analysed other characteristics.
