Design Options for Supply Chain Visibility Services – Learnings from Three EPCIS ImplementationsTröger, Ralph, Alt, Rainer 06 December 2018 (has links)
Supply chains in many industries are experiencing an ever-growing complexity. They involve many actors and, similar to intra-organizational processes, visibility is an important enabler for managing supply chains in an inter-organizational setting. It is the backbone of advanced sup-ply chain (event) management solutions, which serve to detect critical incidents in time and to determine alternative actions. Due to the numerous parties involved, distributed supply chains call for a modular system architecture that aims at re-using visibility data from standardized sources. Following the wide variety of supply chain configurations in many industries there are also many options to design such services. This paper sheds light on these aspects by conduct-ing a case study on EPCIS, a global service specification for capturing and sharing visibility data. Based on three implementations, it shows the main design options for a supply chain vis-ibility service, generic operator models as well as major potentials.:1. Introduction and motivation

Preselection of Electronic Services by Given Business Service Based on Measuring Semantic Heterogeneity within the Application Area of LogisticsKluge, Rolf 17 July 2012 (has links)
According to the service orientation design paradigm there are business (BS) and electronic services (ES). BS encapsulate business concerns. ES encapsulate computing systems, information systems and software applications. In environments with a high number of BS and ES the decision on which ES provides the most suitable support for a certain BS is not a trivial task. The objective of the thesis is to provide models, methods, and techniques for preselection of ES for a given BS. Preselection is about reducing the large amount of ES to a significant smaller amount under the consideration of a particular BS.

探索企業導入服務導向架構(SOA)影響因素之研究 / Factors affecting the adoption of Service Oriented Architecture in enterprises: an exploratory study李盈儒, Lee, Ying-Ju Unknown Date (has links)
(略) / Service-oriented Architecture (SOA) paradigm is an emerging architectural blueprint which enables flexible process-oriented application systems. While more and more enterprises plan to adopt SOA to increase reusability and flexibility of their business processes, the readiness of this technology becomes important to enterprises. However, previous SOA studies focus mainly on the technical issues but ignore the organizational or managerial issues. To fill this gap, this research aims to explore the factors of adopting SOA. Developed upon institutional theory and diffusion of innovation theory, we not only consider the technical factors with SOA adoption, but also pay attention to factors related with organizations and IT innovations. Furthermore, a content analysis of online Webs, blogs, and forums is taken to verify our research framework, and research findings indicate the relative advantage of SOA, compatibility of SOA, the characteristics of decision makers, culture, IT capability, and SOA socioeconomic characteristics are the most important drivers for SOA adoption. The contribution is summarized in two folds: (1) enterprises can use this framework as a reference to diagnose their organization conditions and then make a decision to adopting SOA; and (2) researchers can develop their study upon the constructs of this framework.

SOA governance proposition using dynamic capabilities: an application at university digital communication center.Onoe, Alberto Yoshinobu 03 November 2010 (has links)
SOA Service Oriented Architecture has been established as the paradigm for IT Information Technology systems development, due to its features that promotes flexibility, agility, reuse and scalability. How to develop and maintain this governance up to date in a fast and unpredictable environment is a great challenge. This work aims to present a methodology that allows a modest IT infrastructure to be able to cope with SOA governance, using dynamic capabilities (particular abilities and routines of an organization). The contribution of this work is the link (practically inexistent) between lines of research in SOA governance and dynamic capabilities. To accomplish this purpose, this work sought to what must be done (framework), who is the responsible for the development and maintenance (owner), and how to perform the SOA governance (platform). The development has been founded by an extensive research of involved concepts, inference of required dynamic capabilities to maintain the SOA governance and the development of a platform that allows a process analyst to change SOA governance interactively. The results were a methodology and a maintenance system of SOA operational governance. The methodology comprises the requirements and changes in the analysis procedure of the elements of the SOA governance. The system is composed of an agile and effective implementation framework and platform that enable how to apply dynamic capabilities into the SOA governance.
Web services are widely used by organizations to share their knowledge over the network and facilitate business-to-business collaboration. The emergence of Web services enabled applications to be presented as a set of business services well structured and correctly described. However, combining Web services and making them interoperable, to satisfy user requests taking into account functional and non-functional quality criteria, is a complex process. In this work, we focus specifically on location-based services (LBS) that integrate geographic information and provide information reachable from mobile devices, through wireless network by making use of the geographical positions of the devices. The aim of this work is to develop a model driven approach to specify, validate and implement service composition process in an automatic fashion for road security. This approach is based on two formal tools namely Petri nets (PN) and (max, +) algebra used to model, to verify and to evaluate the performance of service composition process. Workflow patterns are used to represent service composition processes. The behavior of each pattern is modeled by a PN model and then by a (max,+) state equation. The developed formal models allow the graphical and analytical description of the considered processes. Also, these models enable to evaluate some quantitative and qualitative properties of the considered processes. A platform, called TransportML, has been developed for collaboration and interoperability of different LBS. The obtained simulation results from the formal models are compared, on one hand, to those obtained from trials of the platform, and on the other hand, to those obtained from the real experimentations on the field. This work is a part of the FP7 European projects ASSET (2008-2011) and TeleFOT (2008-2012).

Semantically-enriched and semi-autonomous collaboration framework for the Web of Things : design, implementation and evaluation of a multi-party collaboration framework with semantic annotation and representation of sensors in the Web of Things and a case study on disaster managementAmir, Mohammad January 2015 (has links)
This thesis proposes a collaboration framework for the Web of Things based on the concepts of Service-oriented Architecture and integrated with semantic web technologies to offer new possibilities in terms of efficient asset management during operations requiring multi-actor collaboration. The motivation for the project comes from the rise in disasters where effective cross-organisation collaboration can increase the efficiency of critical information dissemination. Organisational boundaries of participants as well as their IT capability and trust issues hinders the deployment of a multi-party collaboration framework, thereby preventing timely dissemination of critical data. In order to tackle some of these issues, this thesis proposes a new collaboration framework consisting of a resource-based data model, resource-oriented access control mechanism and semantic technologies utilising the Semantic Sensor Network Ontology that can be used simultaneously by multiple actors without impacting each other’s networks and thus increase the efficiency of disaster management and relief operations. The generic design of the framework enables future extensions, thus enabling its exploitation across many application domains. The performance of the framework is evaluated in two areas: the capability of the access control mechanism to scale with increasing number of devices, and the capability of the semantic annotation process to increase in efficiency as more information is provided. The results demonstrate that the proposed framework is fit for purpose.

For the provisioning of end-to-end connections in optical domains it is desirable to have an architecture that supports the automatic establishment of such connections. The GMPLS technology offers a control plan that specifies mechanisms which extend the routing and the signalling of IP world contributing for the automatic configuration of end-to-end connections in optical domains. This work proposes an architecture for the provisioning of end-to-end connections in GMPLS optical networks. Such architecture is based on the Web services technology and allows the establishment of two kinds of connections. The first one, known as SPC (Soft Permanent Connection), is used by the manager of the optical domain. The SPC connects two network elements belonging to the same domain. The second one is an end-to-end connection by which a given client can send data across multiple domains. In this last case the client needs to negotiate with each domain to verify the availability of resources. For such architecture we defined modules responsibIe for the provisioning and management of the connections. The GLASS simulator was used for validation ofthe proposed architecture / Mestrado / Engenharia de Computação / Mestre em Engenharia Elétrica

Analyzing Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) in Open Source ProductsGohar, Adnan January 2010 (has links)
Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is an architectural paradigm that allows building of infrastructures for diverse application interaction and integration via services across different platforms, domains of technology and locations. SOA differs from traditional architectures, as it focuses on integrating capabilities that are distributed and implemented using a mixture of technologies. SOA provides a set of methodologies and strategies to accomplish interoperability and integration among different technology stacks. Vattenfall is the fifth the largest energy supplier within Europe. Having operational systems in different countries brings the challenge of integrating all these distributed systems and this integration is a vital requirement for Vattenfall. The company is currently using Microsoft proprietary products to achieve integration across different technological platform, but requires a better integration infrastructure which is easily extensible and cost effective. This thesis investigates the impact of implementing Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) using open source or proprietary software products within Vattenfall, from technological and financial perspectives. For this purpose, different technical and non-technical function blocks are identified which are essential for the implementation of SOA. These function blocks are mapped with SOA solutions provided by Red Hat’s JBoss Open Source SOA Platform and Microsoft’s SOA Platform. After mapping, a vendor specific technical and non-technical comparative analysis is carried out based on the function blocks, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of each vendor. Finally, an evaluation scheme is purposed based on the technical comparative analysis of vendors, SOA solution cost and SOA competence required. The results from this evaluation scheme are used to recommend the best solution vendor for Vattenfall Nordic. Moreover, this evaluation scheme can also be used to facilitate management in arriving at an appropriate decision about implementation of SOA, while remaining within their requirements and constraints.
