To pursue the competitiveness, many companies end up adopting similar strategies based on the most common and disseminated practices in their respective business. Beyond the financial resources, the companies also invest time and efforts in order to achieve similar performances of the most competitive ones which they deem to be "benchmarking", i.e. the reference in your business. However, simply adopting the best practices of those reference companies will not allow become a leader in their businesses, since it would require other ingredients, other strategies that make the difference. When it focuses on the product itself, specifically in the case of this study about the automotive industry, which is a very competitive segment in the world, it is necessary much more sophisticated strategies or even non-existent yet. Mentioned by several leaders and executives of multinational companies as an efficient methodology, the Design for Six Sigma, or simply DFSS, enables to understand their markets, their customers, respective necessities and yearnings, in a deep way and their deployments as well. By the flexibility of using DFSS methodology, it becomes possible to develop proposals and solutions to one of the most important differentials in this competitive market, the innovation. Due to the subjectivity around some aspects of the concept of that differential, it is proposed to adopt the fuzzy logic, to work on the most important linguistic variables and, combined with the Taguchi’s signal to noise relation, quantitatively measure the degree of innovation inherent in the products. By this modeling, validated through the analysis of several vehicular systems that have evolved throughout the automobile history, it becomes possible to compare current products with new ideas and proposals from the point of view of innovation, thus providing useful inputs to the decision-making process

Rediseño del Proceso de Revisión de Documentos Bechtel

Poblete Manzano, Fernando Gabriel January 2009 (has links)

Cabeleira, Daiane Dias January 2016 (has links)
Introduction: The pathophysiological profile of patients with liver disease may impact functional capacity even after liver transplantation (LT). Objective: To describe functional capacity after LT in a group of Brazilian patients. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 52 patients submitted to LT between 2002 and 2013. Functional capacity was determined using the six-minute walk test (6MWT). Results: The mean age of the overall sample was 58 ± 10.26 years, and 51.9% were male. Hypertension was detected in 48.1%, obesity in 42.3%, and type 2 diabetes in 40.4%. Tacrolimus was the most used medicine (84.6% of patients). The mean distance traveled in the 6MWT was 497 + 90 m (531 ± 70 m for males vs. 460 ± 95 m for females). Gender and age were significantly associated with 6MWT results (p=0.002 and p=0.011), showing a higher mean 6MWT distance in younger men than in women, regardless of the time elapsed since LT (p<0.05). In relation to physical exercise, physically active individuals had more favorable 6MWT results; however, this association was not statistically significant. Conclusion: The present group of LT patients had good functional capacity as measured by the 6MWT, especially younger patients, male patients, and physically active patients.

A Methodologieal Approach for Product Driven System in lust-ln-Time context : Application to TRANE company

El Haouzi, Hind 19 November 2008 (has links)
The PhD research was made in the context ofan industrial partnership between Trane Company and the CRAN. The main objective ofthis work is to propose atnethodol6gy to integrate and design Product Driven Systems (PDS). This research proposes a control architecture irnplementation by active kanbans and/or active products in manufacturing systems context. The fust chapter describes the manufacturing processes of Trane Company. At the end of this chapter industrial problems are highlighted. The second chapter is a bibliographical study relative to manufacturing flow control existing processes leading to improvements for preceding problems. Following the demonstration of the interest of PDS and their resolution, the necessity of special PDS design method adapted to the industrial context is shown in chapter 2. The third chapter describes the scientific objectives induced by the previous problems and by the lack of PDS integration and design methods. The main contribution of this thesis rises in the proposed methodology. Moreover, several applications have been proposed in order to validate the methodology and results highlight PDS concept pertinence.

An Analytical Approach to Lean Six Sigma Deployment Strategies: Project Identification and Prioritization

January 2011 (has links)
abstract: The ever-changing economic landscape has forced many companies to re-examine their supply chains. Global resourcing and outsourcing of processes has been a strategy many organizations have adopted to reduce cost and to increase their global footprint. This has, however, resulted in increased process complexity and reduced customer satisfaction. In order to meet and exceed customer expectations, many companies are forced to improve quality and on-time delivery, and have looked towards Lean Six Sigma as an approach to enable process improvement. The Lean Six Sigma literature is rich in deployment strategies; however, there is a general lack of a mathematical approach to deploy Lean Six Sigma in a global enterprise. This includes both project identification and prioritization. The research presented here is two-fold. Firstly, a process characterization framework is presented to evaluate processes based on eight characteristics. An unsupervised learning technique, using clustering algorithms, is then utilized to group processes that are Lean Six Sigma conducive. The approach helps Lean Six Sigma deployment champions to identify key areas within the business to focus a Lean Six Sigma deployment. A case study is presented and 33% of the processes were found to be Lean Six Sigma conducive. Secondly, having identified parts of the business that are lean Six Sigma conducive, the next steps are to formulate and prioritize a portfolio of projects. Very often the deployment champion is faced with the decision of selecting a portfolio of Lean Six Sigma projects that meet multiple objectives which could include: maximizing productivity, customer satisfaction or return on investment, while meeting certain budgetary constraints. A multi-period 0-1 knapsack problem is presented that maximizes the expected net savings of the Lean Six Sigma portfolio over the life cycle of the deployment. Finally, a case study is presented that demonstrates the application of the model in a large multinational company. Traditionally, Lean Six Sigma found its roots in manufacturing. The research presented in this dissertation also emphasizes the applicability of the methodology to the non-manufacturing space. Additionally, a comparison is conducted between manufacturing and non-manufacturing processes to highlight the challenges in deploying the methodology in both spaces. / Dissertation/Thesis / Ph.D. Industrial Engineering 2011

Operation Moked : Sexdagarskriget – Överraskning inom de israeliska luftoperationerna / Operation Moked : The Six Day War – Surprise and the Israeli Aerial Operations

Damm, Douglas January 2013 (has links)
The research regarding the six day war and the aerial operations named Operation Moked is extensive but there are certain shortcomings in the research that examines both the operation and the principle of surprise. The aim of this paper is to contribute to this research by utilising existing military theories on the principle of surprise in order to identify indicators that are representative of surprise.  These indicators are thereafter used in a study of Operation Moked in order to examine the extent of in which the principle was utilised. The result of this research goes to show that the principle of surprise was utilised in great extent by Israel during Operation Moked.
