Structure of attractors and estimates of their fractal dimension / Estrutura de atratores e estimativas de suas dimensões fractais

Matheus Cheque Bortolan 08 March 2013 (has links)
This work is dedicated to the study of the structure of attractors of dynamical systems with the objective of estimating their fractal dimension. First we study the case of exponential global attractors of some generalized gradient-like semigroups in a general Banach space, and estimate their fractal dimension in terms of themaximumof the dimension of the local unstablemanifolds of the isolated invariant sets, Lipschitz properties of the semigroup and rate of exponential attraction. We also generalize this result for some special evolution processes, introducing a concept of Morse decomposition with pullback attractivity. Under suitable assumptions, if (A, \'A POT. \') is an attractor-repeller pair for the attractor A of a semigroup {T (t ) : t 0}, then the fractal dimension of A can be estimated in terms of the fractal dimension of the local unstable manifold of \'A POT. \', the fractal dimension of A, the Lipschitz properties of the semigroup and the rate of the exponential attraction. The ingredients of the proof are the notion of generalized gradient-like semigroups and their regular attractors, Morse decomposition and a fine analysis of the structure of the attractors. Also, making use of the skew product semiflow and its Morse decomposition, we give some estimates of the fractal dimension of the pullback attractors of non-autonomous dynamical systems / Este trabalho é dedicado ao estudo da estrutura dos atratores de sistemas dinâmicos com o objetivo de obter estimativas de suas dimensões fractais.

Zheng, Shimin, Gupta, A. K., Liu, Xuefeng 01 January 2012 (has links)
We define and study multivariate and matrix variate skew Pearson type VII and skew t-distributions. We derive the marginal and conditional distributions, the linear transformation, and the stochastic representations of the multivariate and matrix variate skew Pearson type VII distributions and skew t-distributions. Also, we study the limiting distributions.

Interfacial skew tunneling in group III-V and group IV semiconductors driven by exchange and spin-orbit interactions; Study in the frame of an extended k.p theory / Effet Tunnel Hall Anormal à l’interface de semi-conducteurs contrôlé par les interactions d’échange et spin-orbite.

Dang, Thi Huong 09 November 2016 (has links)
We report on theoretical, analytical and computational investigations and k.p calculations of electron and hole tunneling, in model systems and heterostructures composed of exchange-split III-V semiconductors involving spin-orbit interaction (SOI). We show that the interplay of SOI and exchange interactions at interfaces and tunnel junctions results in a large difference of transmission for carriers, depending on the sign of their incident in-plane wave vector (k//): this leads to interfacial skew-tunneling effects that we refer to as Anomalous Tunnel Hall Effect (ATHE). In a 2x2 exchange-split band model, the transmission asymmetry (A) between incidence angles related to +k// and -k// wave vector components, is shown to be maximal at peculiar points of the Brillouin zone corresponding to a totally quenched transmission (A = 100%). More generally, we demonstrate the universal character of the transmission asymmetry A vs. in-plane wavevector component, for given reduced kinetic energy and exchange parameter, A being universally scaled by a unique function, independent of the spin-orbit strength and of the material parameters. Similarly, striking tunneling phenomena arising in topological insulators have just been predicted. While they all are related to the spin-orbit directional anisotropy, ATHE differs from the tunneling Hall effect, spontaneous anomalous, and spin Hall effects, or spin-galvanic effect, previously reported for electron transport, by its giant forward asymmetry and chiral nature. These features have non-trivial connection with the symmetry properties of the system. All these results show that a new class of tunneling phenomena can now be investigated and experimentally probed. When valence bands are involved, we show (using 14x14 Hamiltonian and within a 2x2 toy model) that ATHE accurate calculations rely on a subtle treatment of the spurious (unphysical) states and we give an insight into the topology of the complex band structure. We introduce two numerical methods to remove spurious states and successfully, include them in 30-band codes able to describe indirect bandgap group-IV semiconductors. Calculations performed in the valence bands of model heterostructures including tunnel barriers, in both 6x6 and 14x14 k.p Hamiltonians without inversion asymmetry, more astonishingly highlight the same trends in the transmission asymmetry which appears to be related to the difference of orbital chirality and to the related branching (overlap) of the corresponding evanescent wave functions responsible for the tunneling current. Besides, we built an analytical model and developed scattering perturbative techniques based on Green’s function method to analytically deal with electrons and holes and to compare these results with numerical calculations. The agreement between the different approaches is very good. In the case of holes, the asymmetry appears to be robust and persists even when a single electrode is magnetic.

An extension of Birnbaum-Saunders distributions based on scale mixtures of skew-normal distributions with applications to regression models / Uma extensão da distribuição Birnbaum-Saunders baseado nas misturas de escala skew-normal com aplicações a modelos de regressão

Sánchez, Rocio Paola Maehara 06 April 2018 (has links)
The aim of this work is to present an inference and diagnostic study of an extension of the lifetime distribution family proposed by Birnbaum and Saunders (1969a,b). This extension is obtained by considering a skew-elliptical distribution instead of the normal distribution. Specifically, in this work we develop a Birnbaum-Saunders (BS) distribution type based on scale mixtures of skew-normal distributions (SMSN). The resulting family of lifetime distributions represents a robust extension of the usual BS distribution. Based on this family, we reproduce the usual properties of the BS distribution, and present an estimation method based on the EM algorithm. In addition, we present regression models associated with the BS distributions (based on scale mixtures of skew-normal), which are developed as an extension of the sinh-normal distribution (Rieck and Nedelman, 1991). For this model we consider an estimation and diagnostic study for uncensored data. They are used in modeling financial data, medical, genetics and other applications. Among these distributions, the Skew normal (Azzalini, 1985) has received more attention from researchers (Genton et al., (2001), Gupta et al., (2004) and Arellano-Valle et al., (2005)). We present a comparative study of _-stable distributions, Skew normal, Skew t de Student and Skew Laplace. The _-stable distribution is studied by Nolan (2009) and proposed by Gonzalez et al., (2009) in the context of genetic data. For some real datasets, in areas such as financial, genetics and commodities, we test which distribution best fits the data. We compare these distributions using the model selection criteria AIC and BIC. Application des codes cycliques tordus / Application of skew cyclic codes

Yemen, Olfa 19 January 2013 (has links)
The topic of the thesis is the study of skew cyclic codes, with application to Quantum Computing and quasi-cyclic codes. Classical cyclic codes have a natural structure of ideals in a polynomial ring. This was generalized by Ulmer in 2008 to skew polynomial rings, a class of non commutative rings introduced by Ore in 1933. The latter codes are not classically cyclic if the alphabet ring admits a non trivial automorphism. In this work is explored the cases of the finite field of order four and of a product ring of two copies of the finite field of order two.

Zešikmená obecná rozdělení / General skew-probability distributions

Václavík, Jiří January 2012 (has links)
In the present work we study families of skew-probability distributions. We will gradually build concept of families of more and more general distributions. For us the most important ones are skew normal distribution, elliptical distri- bution and skew elliptical distribution. On the each of them we will present basic properties and visualize particular examples. At the end we will generate realizations of variates and propose how to estimate the original distribution.
