Uma Reflexão do Islã na Mídia Brasileira: Televisão e Mundo Muçulmano, 2001-2002 / A reflection of Islam in the Brazilian media: television and Muslim world, 2001-2002

Porto, Cesar Henrique de Queiroz 08 November 2012 (has links)
This thesis is based in a study of representations of Islam, Arabs and muslins broadcast by the soap opera O Clone (The Clone). Its primary goal is to verify how the soap opera carried the Islamic culture to the post 9/11 television. Using as a primary source the discourse present in the soap opera, we concluded that O Clone has worked as a didactic instrument for the audiences, offering information from the Islamic culture and religion in a moment in which such cultural tradition was quite stigmatized. The soap opera, despite the reuse of some caricature and generalization derived, foremost, from its feuilletonistic-melodramatic nature, managed to offer positive representations enabling a more humanized reading of the muslim Other. We conclude, as well, that O Clone has brought to television elements that are present in the contemporary context and pervade the Eastern Islamic relations with the modern world and the West. We could also identify that Gloria Perezs electronic feuilleton made use of the intertextual asset by leading representations, ideas and images already settled in the orientalist literary tradition derived from the The Thousand and One Nights and its adaptations and revisions. Through the primacy of orientality, a pile of canonic images about the East, made possible a fast identification of the public with a ancient imaginary, previously settled and very familiar to a population that watches TV.

使用浮現中的新技術與標準來建構新一代的商業網路 / Building A New Business Network With New Emerging Technologies and Standards

顏榮禮, Yen, Rong-Lii Unknown Date (has links)
In this thesis, we provide a overview of Web Services and ebXML. We discuss that mobile computing is the future trend of the networks. From kinds of new technologies, we choose Web Services and ebXML as the candidates of the future network trends. In Web Services, there are three components:SOAP, UDDI, and WSDL. SOAP is a message exchange protocol, UDDI is a repository of service profiles, and WSDL is the language that describes the contents of the services. The three components constitute a complete Web Services infrastructure. This thesis maps Web Services into Internet and explains how this infrastructure works.EbXML, founded by UN/CEFACT and OASIS, will be a new standard for business processes. It establishes common business process in order to let business partners do transactions more easily. This thesis combines the two technologies above mentioned to create a new business network environment. This new environment will reduce cost, increase effectiveness, and improve communications abilities. We provide a simple demo system to show the concepts and hope this thesis will be a better reference for readers.

Soap separation efficiency at Gruvön mill : An evaluation of the process before and after a modification

Tran, Tony January 2011 (has links)
Wood consists not only of cellulose, lignin and hemicellulose but also of so called extractives which includes fats and acids and these components are separated in the mill from the black liquor. These extractives are in the mill denoted as tall oil soap. Tall oil has a large field of applications like chemicals and fuel and as it is produced to the atmosphere if it can replace oil and thus reduce the oil consumption. Tall oil soap is separated from the black liquor in a skimmer and the focus of this thesis was to examine the effect of air injection and the soap layer thickness on the soap separation efficiency in a skimmer. The work was focused on in analyzing the soap content of the inlet and outlet black liquor flow of the skimmer and to detect if an enhancement has been achieved with the two mentioned methods. The reason for the pulp mill to improve the soap separation efficiency was to decrease the risk of foaming and fouling in the evaporator but also to be able to increase the production of tall oil. The air injection gave a 41% improvement of the soap separation efficiency and further improvements are probably possible to achieve. The air injection flow was about 7 l air /m3 liquor in the black liquor feed. The airflow lowers the density of soap, creating a greater difference in density between soap and black liquor and this improves the separation efficiency. A thicker soap layer could increase the likelihood for soap drops to raise and reach the soap-liquor interface, because the soap drops have the tendency to bind with each other and will be separated from the liquor instead of following with the skimmed liquor outlet (fig. i.2). However, this study shows no indication of improvement with thicknesses that exceeds 0,75- 3,5 m which also endanger the skimmer due to overflow from the skimmer or create a short circuit between the in- and the outlet black liquor flow.

The study of Taiwan, Japan and Korea drama production and marketing strategies

Chuang, Tun-chun 14 February 2011 (has links)
As is known to everyone, the popularity of soap drama breakthroughs the markets overseas, promoting the atmosphere of self-made soap drama indirectly. Many creators would like to join in the manufacture of soap drama, and it is believed that we can improvement the quality of the products. On the other hand, the manufacturing companines and the operators should make the integrated-strategy of production and marketing. To reform the development of Taiwan soap drama, first of all, we must enrich the quality and output of it, enhance the concept of integrated marketing and production, and produce requirement-oriented products. It is believed that we can learn from the implementation of South Korea's Valuation System to encourage corporations to join in television industry investment, finding funds, being independent. The government should guide enterprises to investment in television industry. The conclusion of this study are presented as follows: 1. Make use of the ability of Soap drama to create economic value. 2. Find some ways to seek funds and strengthen cross-border cooperation in Soap drama¡¦s producting. 3. Get rid of the reorganization from foreign country cartoons, and accumulate native experience of the manuscript creations.

Pleasure, popularity and the soap opera

De Montigny, Michelle C. (Michelle Chantal) January 1992 (has links)
This thesis uses the concept of pleasure as it has been applied to cultural artefacts in order to give a description of various characteristics of the soap opera genre. The concept of pleasure is applied to soap opera narrative, characters, visual style and viewing attitudes. Three soap operas, The Young and the Restless, General Hospital, and Another World, are described in detail according to these various types of pleasures. The Young and the Restless is a soap that relies largely on visual pleasures and melodrama. General Hospital's strongest pleasures are related to its character development and use of humour. Another World, the most traditional of the three soaps, is best at stimulating the pleasures associated with talk. Through analysis of viewer commentary supplied by letters sent to Soap Opera Weekly and Soap Opera Update and Nielsen ratings, it can be concluded that the pleasures that most soap opera viewers seem to value the most are related to visual style, romance and a delicate balance between realistic characters and fantasy in narrative.

Soap opera subculture : emotional realism and empathic identification

Mark, Amanda January 1993 (has links)
Popular feminine narratives, domestic, emotion-based texts through which communities of women have traditionally practiced feminine discourse, have been marginalised by dominant masculine cultures throughout their long history. This continues in the postmodern era, in which the culturally dominant postmodern aesthetic has declared the death of the social, narrative and affect, all intrinsic to the popular feminine narrative. Nevertheless, these narratives persevere in such forms as the daytime television soap opera. Using a reader-oriented model, American soap operas are discussed as a site for the generation of women's pleasure, and as a forum for the raising, sharing and addressing of problems which affect women's lives. Soap opera fan magazines further extend the already social soap opera experience, which celebrates emotion and empathy in a culture which often negates them.
