Wessels, Althia Chavianca January 2012 (has links)
South Africa the development of small tourism businesses are extremely vital for job creation and a development of a new economy. The South African tourism industry has to look at more innovative ways for marketing their products and services to develop the small tourism businesses. The arrival of web 2.0 led to the development and evolution of web-based communities, hosted services and web applications such as social networking sites. Social networking sites have encouraged new ways to communicate and share information on the web. When it comes to online networking, websites are commonly used. These websites are known as social networking sites and function as online communities on the internet. Social networking sites are currently one of the applications of Web 4.0 developments. This means creation by the majority and web participation a necessity. The importance of customer engagement enablement is recognised. Operating systems are in cloud-computing. The communication medium became social media systems and people sell everything via desktop, mobile, tablets and iTV. This study focuses on the Eastern Free State tourism destination and its development through social networks. The main aim of the study is to critically analyse the application and effective utilisation of social network site technologies within the Eastern Free State tourism industry and to explore this objective of social network applications used within the small businesses in Eastern Free State tourism industry. The empirical study was conducted by means of a field study using a structured questionnaire and interviews with key stakeholders. Data from 60 small tourism businesses were collected and a total of 55 businesses restricted to Eastern Free State Drakensberg were analysed in the process of collecting the peer-aided questionnaires. The biggest problems in the use of digital media are knowledge to develop a proper product that has measured marketing outcomes for the small business. / Thesis (MBA)--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2013.

Use it in two methodologies, the social media analysis and the bibliometry. The scientific production was collected in lattes plataform deriving from curriculum of accredited teachers in 15 postdegree programs. Considering datas by two last tests of CAPES (triennia 2007-9 2010-2). The bibliographic records was extracted between scriptlattes software. The Vantage Point® software and UCINET was used to systematization and analysis of the results. Found that the area published on average 60% of articles in collaboration and there is a decrease (5%) in articles with authors individual. there is a uniform distribution of articles between the strata Qualis, ranging from 10% to 15%. according to the Qualis area, 14% of articles not total score for the program. there is a diversity in the profile of collaboration of the programs, some have more than 70% of its production in collaboration, and others with a maximum of 40%. the protagonists in collaboration scientific are programs level 6 (ufscar-and and) and level 5 (ufscar). the level 7 and most of the level 6 do not appear prominently. there are no greater approach between teachers of the programs for publication, for having higher level. the higher the average articles by program, the greater the possibility of publication joint. specific areas of education with other areas of knowledge (psychology, health, biology, etc.), impact the shape of the scientific production.

The use of social networks has shown great potential for information diffusion and formation of public opinion. One key problem that has attracted researchers' interest is how to find an initial set of users such that, when given an incentive, they might influence a substantial portion of the network to buy a product, adopt an innovation, or spread news. This problem is known as Influence Maximization. Although major improvements have been made since the íirst solution for this problem was developed, most of these efforts have been concerned on how to solve scalability issues and how to learn the solution parameters. As a result, other key aspects have gained minor interest, such as depending on relationship between social influence and users' topics of interest. Recently, this issue has been addressed as a problem known as Topic-based Influence Maximization, referring to finding a small set of users on a social network that have the ability to influence a substantial portion of users on a given topic. The proposed solutions, however, are not suitable for large-scale social networks and must incorporate mechanisms for determining social influence among users for each topic of interest. Consequently, for these approaches, it becomes difficult or even unfeasible to deal quickly and efficiently with constant changes in the structure of social networks. This problem is particularly relevant when the topics of interest of users and the social influence they exert on each other for every topic are considered together. In this work we propose a scalable solution that makes use of data mining based on an information propagation log, in order to directly select the initial set of influential users on a particular topic without needing to incorporate a previous learning stage of social influence with regard to that topic. As an additional benefit, the targeted seed set also offers an approximation guarantee of the optimal solution. Finally, an experimental evaluation is presented based on datasets containing information propagation data from real social networks where evidence has been found that the proposed solution maintains a trade-off between scalability and accuracy.
