Adriana Goreti de Oliveira Lopes 20 October 2009 (has links)
This job has the objective to investigate the Representações Sociais (Social Leaders) formed by relatives dead people donors that offer their organs and tissue to transplant. A research was done by using as an instrument: the half interview. Nine relatives, an alive donor and an organ receptor were interviewed. Two ways appeared in the study: the one related to the idea of life and the other one related to the idea of death. In the idea of life, the cure ideas, solidarity, continuity and altruism are present. In the second idea, there is mainly the body fragmentation. This way, we can be aware that if the people that are still alive could tell their relatives freely about their wish to be donor, it would be easier for their relatives to decide to donate organs in a difficult moment in life. All the interviewed people showed that this fact was determinative at the decision moment of donating organs and tissue, making that decision less stressful. Thinking over the organ donation in every day life will permit that this theme leave the anonymity and go into as well the social support system as health and hospital system to make the relativess late decision easier.

A broken promise: an insight into the killings of social leaders and the elites' resistance to the implementation of the Comprehensive Rural Reform in Colombia

Sánchez, Carol January 2021 (has links)
Four years after the signing of the Final Agreement for the Termination of the Armed Conflict in Colombia, the promises made to achieve a stable and lasting peace have by no means materialized at the expected pace. The implementation of the Agreements has focused on the demobilization of the FARC-EP while structural transformations to reduce the causes for the existence or prolongation of the conflict have been neglected. While the political and economic elites make efforts to halt the implementation –especially the compromises dealing with the rural reform– those who promote such structural changes have been stigmatized and violated in an effort to maintain the status quo. As a result, Colombia has the highest number of killings of social leaders in Latin America. The leaders mobilizing peasant causes have suffered with particular intensity from this violence.  This thesis thus uses a qualitative method of study, developed through data collection, to analyze the relationship between the elite resistance to the implementation of the Comprehensive Rural Reform and the assassinations of social leaders in Colombia. The conceptual basis for the research is the theory of structural violence.

Social Leaders under threat: A critical analysis of the Colombian government and its party members discourse regarding threats, violence, and assassinations of Social Leaders.

Rengifo Pelaez, Cesar David January 2021 (has links)
Social Leaders in Colombia in their efforts to defend their territories and communities have been victims for years of threats, violence, and assassinations by some of the power structures present in the country. After the signing of the peace process Between the FARC and the government of Colombia in 2016, the situation has worsened. Social Leaders are catalysts for sustainable development and guaranteeing their protection is fundamental to the country's sustainable development goals. To analyze the situation the methodology applied was a critical discourse analysis, in which the thesis pursed was to understand the government's position and why this social wrong persists. With this aim, the thesis critically analyzed the texts of the government's development plan, tweets of the main channels of the national government, and the congressmen of the ruling party. The analysis indicated that the ideologies of the ruling party make it difficult to find solutions to wicked problems. In addition, the ideology of the governing party presented a combination of neoliberal, neo-conservative, and “caudillismo” discourses that make it difficult to see Social Leadersas potential solutions to problems and stigmatize them. Thus, increasing the risk of Social Leaders being attacked, threatened, or assassinated. The discussion indicates that the path to change requires a change in the polarized vision that the country has had in its history. It is discussed that change can be pursued through pluriverse. The pluriverse is required for the construction of a country that puts in the dialog different ontologies. The analysis proposed components of ontological politics as an option for the transition from the actual model to this pluriverse.
