Die letzten Tage Adolf Hitlers --- Eine Darstellung f??r das 21. Jahrhundert in Oliver HIRSCHBIEGELs Der Untergang

Kruger, Stefanie January 2006 (has links)
The film Der Untergang (2004), directed by Oliver HIRSCHBIEGEL and written and produced by Bernd EICHINGER, is based on Joachim FEST's historical monograph Der Untergang (2002) and Traudl JUNGE's and Melissa M??LLER's Bis zur letzten Stunde (2003). Taking place in April, 1945, the movie depicts the last days of Adolf Hitler and his staff in the 'F??hrerbunker'. The appearance of the film sparked wide-spread controversy concerning the propriety of Germans illuminating this most controversial aspect of their history. Specifically, the debate centred on the historical accuracy of the film and the dangers associated with the filmmakers' goal of portraying Hitler not as a caricature or one-sided figure but rather as a complete human being whose troubles and human qualities might well earn the sympathy of the viewers.

After surveying a variety of films that portray Adolf Hitler, the thesis analyses Der Untergang by focusing first on the cinematic and narrative aspects of the film itself and then on the figure of Hitler. It aims to demonstrate that the presentation of Hitler as a complex character reflects the circumstances of the film's time and culture. In particular, this thesis discusses two main aspects: first, it describes a figure of Hitler constructed in the film and conveyed to the viewers; second, it demonstrates that the film's construction of Hitler is embedded in the sociocultural context of the film's creation, thereby establishing that this is a Hitler for contemporary German society and the current state of German culture's reckoning with its fascist past.

The results of the analysis, in particular the depiction of Hitler and the representation of death and suicide, demonstrate that the film presents a multiple point of view. The film also faces the problematic issue of representing history adequately. The consideration of the German sociocultural context brings up some reasons that can explain the increased interest in the personal side of the perpetrators and especially in the figure of Hitler.

Finally, this thesis maintains that Der Untergang gives a complex but subsequently inconsistent picture of Adolf Hitler because it gets entangled by the attempt to be informative and entertaining at the same time. Though the film cannot replace historical investigation and analysis, it still informs Germans about Adolf Hitler and reflects how their society deals with its own troubled past.

The role of sociocultural aspects in the city's sustainable development / Sociokultūrinių aspektų vaidmuo miesto darnioje plėtroje

Bardauskienė, Dalia 20 June 2008 (has links)
Topicality of the problem. The history of Lithuanian cities, urban deve-lopment and the values of the inhabitants are closely linked with the West Eu-ropean culture. In the recent socialist past of Lithuania, these links had weakened, while the centralized planning of that period left its footprints not only in the urban structures, but in social consciousness as well. The legacy of the soviet times shows itself even now, though a new law changing the situa-tion in territorial (spatial) planning was adopted in 1995 and the integration to EU urban policy started in 2004. They are responsible for the delay of the imp-lementation of a generally accepted idea of sustainable development. In the Declaration adopted in 1992 in Rio de Janeiro, the main principles of sustainable development and integration of the social, economical, environ-mental issues were outlined and the 21-st century program of activities aimed at achieving sustainable development was presented. In Europe, this aim was con-firmed by the Aalborg Charter. Researchers have demonstrated its advantages by evaluating the results obtained. For this purpose, sets of indicators and citi-zens pools of sustainable development and quality of life were created. Democracy, the market economy and global trends are changing the spa-tial patterns and socio - cultural values of citizens of Lithuania. Estudos sobre textos do livro didático público de língua inglesa: aspectos socioculturais e pragmáticos. / Studies about texts from the public textbook: socio-cultural and pragmatic aspects.

No. of bitstreams: 1 tais.pdf: 1476958 bytes, checksum: 24e6dac878f408f39c30bd0ef8f2025c (MD5) Previous issue date: 2010-12-09 / The present work has as the object of study the English Language Public Textbook, provided by the state of Parana to High School students and teachers. This textbook, created during a Teachers´ Continuing Education Project which motivated them to develop lesson plans according to the directions given by the Paraná Curriculum Guidelines for Foreign Language, is innovative and intends to be an extra aid for lesson planning, but not the only one. In the absence of a teachers´ book and a grammatical progression, it has been verified that teachers have found it difficult to use this textbook because they are not sure how it should be used, in fact. By analyzing the official documents for foreign language teaching in Brazil, the methods and approaches that have been used and which concepts of language underlie them, we understand the importance of textbooks in general, and of the Public Textbook in particular, in the development of the basic education objectives for foreign language, which go beyond the linguistic-grammatical matters. Considering the English language as a lingua franca, as put by Graddol (2006), Rajagopalan (1998) Siqueira (2008), amongst others, and realizing that the methods and approaches are not enough to cater for the learning needs, it seems clear that a study that takes into consideration the socio-cultural language diversity must be prioritized when working with the English Language Public Textbook. Observing the relation between language and culture as studied by Kramsch (1993, 1996, 1998) and the relation between teaching English and pragmatic as studied by Hymes (1968) and Widdowson (1978), socio-cultural and pragmatic aspects which can be explored in English language lesson were analysed in texts from the English Language Public Textbook. Thus, the English language lessons can be a space of formation and transformation, which does not privilege only the formal (grammatical) aspects of the language.

Zahraniční studenti češtiny v České republice (Příspěvek k problematice migrace a studentů-migrantů v českém prostředí) / Foreign Students of Czech Language in the Czech republic (A contribution to the problematics of Migration and Students-Migrants in the Czech Context)

Franc, Aleš January 2012 (has links)
in English The dissertation thesis deals with foreign students in the Czech republic, specifically immigrant students coming from all over the world - from Belarus, Russia and Ukraine and then from China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam. The basic objective of this work is not a real attempt to display the everyday reality of certain groups of migrant-students of Czech language in the Czech Republic in such a way that it only focuses on the problems and barriers they encounter in their studies in the Czech language. It also deals with their adaptation and integration into mainstream Czech society. At the same time, however, we realize that this work is only a partial contribution to the knowledge of migrant-students' life in the Czech environment between 1998 and 2011. This work is based on relevant literature and the research is based on interviews with students and teaching observations. The choice of qualitative methods was intentional to serve our matter the best, since there has been a lack of research in this particular area in recent times. This focus on qualitative techniques is also dependent on the characteristics of the sample group, especially in the linguistic and sociocultural realm. The research was carried out at the Institute of Language and Training of the Charles University in Prague...
