Formale Semantik des Datentypmodells von SDL-2000

Menar, Martin von Löwis of 18 December 2003 (has links)
With the latest revision of ITU-T SDL (Specification and Description Language), the semantic foundations of the formal language definition were completely revised; the formal definition is now based on the calculus of Abstract State Machines (ASMs). In addition, the data type system of SDL was revised, as object-oriented concepts were added. As a result, a new semantical foundation for these new concepts had to be defined. The ACT.ONE calculus that had been used so far was not suitable as a foundation any more, as it is hard to use, unimplementable and not extensible for the object oriented features. In this thesis, we elaborate the principles of a formal language definition, and the realisation of these principles in SDL-2000. We explains that a consistent language definition can only be achieved by developing the formal semantics definition in parallel with the development of the informal definition. The formal language definition covers all aspects of the language: syntax, static semantics, and dynamic semantics. Using the data type semantics as an example, we show how each of these aspects is informally described, and then formalized. For the applicability of the formal semantics definition for practitioners, usage of tools plays a central role. We explain how we transform the formal language definition fully automatically into a tool that implements the language SDL. We also explain how creating the tool allowed us to uncover and correct errors in the informal definition.

The new proposals for H.323 involve intrazone and interzone mobility, and interzone mobility using resources with new entities, signallings and functions from H.510. Based on the mobility solution developed by Liao, these new systems have demonstrated how H.323 could be extended in order to offer mobility using ad hoc multipoint conference for roaming and handoff during a call establishment between H.323 mobile terminals. The other proposal is a system with interzone mobility using multipoint conference with MCU for roaming and handoff during a call establishment between SIP mobile terminals. This system is based on Chen, Moh and Berquin mobility solution. All these systems were specified using the SDL object-oriented formal language with SDL TAU Suite tool. This tool allows the simulation of the systems with MSC diagrams and the validation of the systems by detecting and correcting logical and specification errors / Mestrado / Telecomunicações e Telemática / Mestre em Engenharia Elétrica

The present work proposes an alternative methodology for the development and evolution of AIOA, a software environment for the management and analysis of experimental data, being developed at Embrapa, Brazil. This new technique consists of the combined use of OMT (Object Modeling Technique) with the formal specification language SDL (Specification and Description Language), in its 1992 version SDL-92, presenting strong facilities on the software development process, allowing the validation, simulation and eventual code generation for software prototyping. From the system object model and after mapping to SOL-92, the formal specification is generated considering concepts such as reuse, inheritance, and system evolution. The validation, the simulation and code generation of the system is allowed through the use of the CASE tool SOT (SOL Oesign Tool - Telelogic, Sweden). The specification of the centralized AIOA to its evolution to distributed version are presented, validated and simulated. This is followed up with a specialization and validation of thedistributed AIOA, considering an arquitecture client-server with CORBA mechanism / Mestrado / Telecomunicações e Telemática / Mestre em Engenharia Elétrica

Carvalho.pdf: 2218487 bytes, checksum: dee728ee846d66a58515c2e64c63ff4f (MD5) Previous issue date: 2013-02-28 / FINEP - Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos / The Common Channel Signaling System No. 7 (SS7) is one of the most important signaling systems used in today’s telecommunication networks and continues to be used on new architectures of fixed and mobile telephony. This dissertation presents an implementation for the control functions of the Signaling System Number 7 level 2 (referred in this work as MTP2-H) using the VHDL as the hardware description language. The specification of the control functions for the SS7 level 2 is made by using SDL diagrams described in Recommendation Q.703 of ITU-T. To accomplish the implementation, a methodology was developed for conversion of systems described in SDL to VHDL, consisting of a set of rules and a standard VHDL model that were applied on those SDL diagrams. The implementation was performed in order to provide the modularity and portability characteristics to the generated code. This way, the developed module can be replicated as many times as necessary in a programmable logic component (respecting the limitations of the component) and can also be synthesized in components from different manufacturers. The validation of implementation was done by means of functional tests using the Modelsim simulation tool. The developed code was compiled in development tools from different manufacturers to validate the portability feature and to estimate the amount of resources required in programmable logic components.

EVALUATION OF SOURCE ROUTING FOR MESH TOPOLOGY NETWORK ON CHIP PLATFORMS

<p>Network on Chip is a scalable and flexible communication infrastructure for the design of core based System on Chip. Communication performance of a NoC depends heavily on the routing algorithm. Deterministic and adaptive distributed routing algorithms have been advocated in all the current NoC architectural proposals. In this thesis we make a case for the use of source routing for NoCs, especially for regular topologies like mesh. The advantages of source routing include in-order packet delivery; faster and simpler router design; and possibility of mixing non-minimal paths in a mainly minimal routing. Queued and Pooled Semantics for State Machines in the Umple Model-Oriented Programming Language

Alghamdi, Aliaa January 2015 (has links)
This thesis describes extensions to state machines in the Umple model-oriented programming language to offer queued state machines (QSM), pooled state machines (PSM) and handing of the arrival of unexpected events. These features allow for modeling the behavior of a system or protocol in a more accurate way in Umple because they enable detecting and fixing common design errors such as unspecified receptions. In addition, they simplify the communication between communicating state machines by allowing for asynchronous calls of events and passing of messages between state machines. Also, a pooled state machine (PSM) has been developed to provide a different policy of handling events that avoid unspecified receptions. This mechanism has similar semantics as a queued state machine, but it differs in the way of detecting unspecified receptions because it helps handling these errors. Another mechanism has been designed to use the keyword ‘unspecified’ in whatever state of a state machine the user wants to detect these errors. In this thesis, the test-driven development (TDD) process has been followed to first modify the Umple syntax to add ‘queued,’ ‘pooled,’ and ‘unspecified’ keywords to Umple state machine’s grammar; and second, to make a change to the Umple semantics in order to implement these extensions in Umple. Then, additional modifications have been made to allow for Java code generation from those types of state machines. Finally, more test cases have been written to ensure that these models are syntactically and semantically correct. In order to show the usefulness and usability of these new features, an example is shown as a case study that is modeled using the queued state machine (QSM) besides other small tests cases.
