Anhörigas erfarenheter av att leva tillsammans med en person med demenssjukdom

Jansson, Sarah, Svensson, Lina January 2016 (has links)

Kováčová, Lucie January 2017 (has links)
88 Abstract Thesis title: Marriage In my thesis I deal with pernament and unchangeable characters of marriage, including terminology, and also transformations of the marriage in relation with changing of the legislation and transformation of the society. The main object of my thesis is to give a structured and summary image of the problematics marriage with context of present legislation but also historical events for a reader. At first three chapters I dedicated to the theoretical aspects of the marriage which are important for the understanding of primary terminology and historical contexts. From the fourth chapter ,,rights and obligations of spouses" I tried to route my thesis more to the practice of matrimonial law. One of the most important and the most difficult part of marriage are property relations between spouses, especially at divorce is sometimes very difficult to deal with the property between spouses. I deal with property between spouses in chapter 5th . Property settlement between spouses closely related to termination of the marriage, especially to divorce. I deal with termination of the marriage in the chapter 6th . I again tried to refer especially about practice of termination of the marriage, not only practical aspects of the relations between divorcing spouses, but also about relations...

The lived experience of the marital relationship of the wives of convicted rapists

Brest, Tiffany Tarryn 15 April 2014 (has links)
M.A. (Clinical Psychology) / The institution of marriage rests upon shared expectations of appropriate marital behaviour including those of sexual fidelity and lifetime partnership. Therefore, a wife whose husband has been convicted of rape, experiences a violation in her marriage. The experience of the marital relationship of convicted rapists is not a well-documented phenomenon, particularly from the offenders’ wives’ perspectives. A qualitative, phenomenological approach was adopted to explore the experience and the meanings that participants attributed to the phenomenon of the marital relationship with a convicted rapist. Descriptions of such experiences were sourced from open-ended interviews conducted with three participants. Participant interviews were transcribed and analysed using an interpretative phenomenological analysis. Despite the distinctiveness of the participants’ individual experiences, the researcher identified five superordinate themes common across the three participants’ descriptions. These themes are encapsulated as follows: (a) Wives’ positive experiences of their marital relationship; (b) Wives’ negative experiences of their marital relationship; (c) Wives’ ambivalent experiences in their marital relationship; (d) Wives’ emotional experiences as a consequence of their former husbands’ convictions for rape; and (e) Wives’ experiences of stigmatisation. The findings have potential implications for future research.

Spousal support in the South African National Defence Force during external military deployment : a model for social support services

Pitse, Cynthia Apile 16 May 2010 (has links)
Deployment and separation are indivisible components of military life. Separation of family members due to deployment is stressful and challenging. The importance of spousal resilience has been reflected by the nature of problems that have been experienced by the spouses at home while the member/members were on external military deployment. Therefore, the model on social support services to the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) members’ spouses during external military deployment is not in place. Furthermore, the efficiency and effectiveness of spousal support services during external military deployment within the SANDF have not been scientifically evaluated. The design of a model for social support services to the spouses of SANDF members during external military deployment is therefore critical in ensuring that the members are mission-ready. The objectives of the study were as follows: • To undertake an in-depth literature review that would conceptualise social support services to SANDF members’ spouses while on external military deployment. • To evaluate the implementation, efficiency and effectiveness of existing social support services to SANDF members’ spouses while the member is on external military deployment. • To inform the SANDF management about the results of the study on the need for social support services to SANDF members’ spouses during the members' external military deployment. • To design a model for social support services to the SANDF members’ spouses while the member is on external military deployment as a prerequisite for combat readiness amongst the SANDF members. The research approach that was used in this study is a combination of both qualitative and quantitative approaches. A semi-structured interview schedule was used in soliciting information that aided in the design of a model for social support services to the spouses of SANDF members while members are on external military deployment. Interviews were conducted with the spouses of the members of the SANDF who are or have been involved in external military deployment. Social workers from each of the deploying units within the nine provinces of the RSA undertook interviews with the spouses of the SANDF members who are or have been involved in external military deployment whilst the researcher conducted interviews within the ninth province being Gauteng. Self-constructed questionnaires were used as a quantitative data collection method to elicit information from the SANDF members who are or have been involved in external deployment, regarding the nature of social support services during the external military deployment of the member. Social workers who were deployed with those members assisted with the administration of questionnaires. Following the guidelines provided in the findings and conclusions of the study, the model for social support services during external military deployment of the member was designed. The proposed model is the SANDF Unit Family Support Groups (SANDF UFSGs) model that will address all the challenges and issues that have been identified in this study. The formation of UFSG committees in all the deploying units in the SANDF in order to address deployment related issues and challenges is thus of great importance. Based on the abovementioned, the study was able to attain its goal and objectives. / Thesis (DPhil)--University of Pretoria, 2010. / Social Work and Criminology / unrestricted

Male clergy violence against their spouses in the Presbyterian Church of Mozambique - a new theory of Praxis

Chirinda, Felicidade Naume 07 January 2009 (has links)
Background Women around the world have been denouncing gender injustice as a tool that merit critical analyzes and that hinders peace and justice. Therefore, the silence of the Church on the issue of Violence against Women is identified and challenged in the present study throughout the face of clergy’ wives in the Presbyterian Church of Mozambique. About the study The research is aimed at raising awareness that women and specially clergy’ wives in the PCM are living under violence and abuse perpetrated by their ministers and husbands, as Poling says, “The very people whom they thought they could trust” (1999: ix). The research is done by exploring the following key questions:

What causes the Church to be silent regarding male clergy violence?

Why is it that the Church never addresses the problem of violence and abuse by clergy in church and at home?

Violence and abuse among clergy’ homes is solved by transferring the male clergy family to another church. Is this process a better solution for solving the family and church problem? Or is it a holistic approach to healing the congregation?

Why are clergy’ wives and the Christian community silent about violence happening in their midst?

Which Pastoral Care model is needed to address and challenge this issue?

The findings The research revealed existence of, among others:

Physical, psychological, spiritual, economical and sexual violence;

Deceive, betrayal, discrimination and stigma;

Lack of: Vision, education, formation, information, salary and houses;

Weak notions of sin

Complacent silence

Biased notions of discipleship

The challenges are:

To speak out; to challenge the Christian, cultural and traditional teachings that are harmful to women; Empower women; provide care; and to transform the patriarchal structures and systems of oppression.

Conclusion and recommendations VAW is recognized to be a threat to life in all its aspects. Global and sector based efforts are needed in order to end it. Therefore, the Church is urged to work in a coordinated fashion with all sectors and stakeholders and to build partnerships as to be able to meet the objectives. / Dissertation (MA)--University of Pretoria, 2009. / Practical Theology / unrestricted

A narrative study of the spouses of traumatized Canadian soldiers

McLean, Holly Beth 05 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to provide an inclusive portrait of the experience of female spouses living with traumatized male Canadian soldiers healing from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). By facilitating the articulation of the spouses' stories this research gives a voice to and fosters appreciation for this neglected population. As well, this study helps clarify the needs and possible therapeutic interventions for spouses of soldiers in psychotherapy for PTSD. Although recently there has been an increased focus on addressing PTSD in soldiers, there has been comparatively little research and clinical attention given to the soldiers' families. For this study, in-depth interviews were conducted with six spouses of former peacekeeping Canadian soldiers who received group therapy for PTSD. Using the Life Story interview method, a spontaneous picture of the spouses' experiences was elicited as part of a comprehensive relationship narrative. This provided the opportunity for understanding the experience of living with a soldier in treatment for PTSD within a couple relationship and larger social context. Narrative summaries were created from the interviews and follow-up was conducted with each participant to gain feedback on these narratives. Participants were also given the opportunity to read each other's narratives and discuss their impressions. The narrative summaries are presented along with thematic results. The participants' stories revealed instances of aggression, primary trauma and problems related to their husbands' periods of alcohol abuse, so Figley's model of Secondary Traumatic Stress was not the best conceptual fit to explain the experiences of these women. Limited support was found, however, for Hobfoll's (1998)model of a loss spiral to help describe the descent into chronic disability associated with combat-related PTSD as well as the difficulties soldiers experience in their transition from military service. This study's implications for practice include recommendations for groups for military spouses; the need to address the iatrogenic suffering of soldiers and their spouses; treatment recommendations for soldiers with PTSD. Future research also needs to include delivery and evaluation of a group-based counselling intervention for the spouses of traumatized soldiers. / Education, Faculty of / Educational and Counselling Psychology, and Special Education (ECPS), Department of / Graduate

Army Reservists Spouses' Perceptions of Secondary Traumatic Stress: A Phenomenological Study

Whinnery, Wendy 01 January 2019 (has links)
While it is commonly known that combat-related posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has profound, long-term effects on soldiers, its effects on spouses of affected soldiers are less understood. Some spouses who provide care for soldiers with PTSD develop symptoms that are similar in nature. These symptoms include but are not limited to depression, anxiety, isolation, hypervigilance, and a strong startle effect. This study explored the lived experiences of 8 spouses of Army Reservists who returned from deployment in either Iraq or Afghanistan with combat-related PTSD. This study used the couple adaptation to traumatic stress model to explore the couple's response to traumatic stress. The study also includes a discussion of the history of PTSD, including changes in criteria with the revisions of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), including the most recent change in the latest version (DSM 5). Although secondary traumatic stress is not recognized in the DSM 5, an increase in awareness may result in a better understanding of mental health needs within the military culture. The study consisted of 8 semi-structured interviews among 8 female spouses of Army Reserve soldiers, using Colaizzi's method of data analysis. The results of this study identified psychological distress in all participants in connection with relationship changes, psychological distress, and lack of available mental health services. The results of this study may assist mental health professionals understand that the mental health needs of spouses of Reservists often differ from those of active duty spouses. This study may support social change by promoting the need for additional training for counselors who work with this population.
