Meeting point - Kvicksund / Mötescentrum Kvicksund

Kvicksund is located in north west Eskilstuna and is an area with very unique conditions. It's an area that is both divided by the lake Mälaren but also by two municipalities: Västerås in the north and Eskilstuna in the south. In this area you are surrounded by nature while still having access to communications such as trains. My proposal is to build a nursing home in Kvicksund, combined with both a preeschool and café to form a "Meeting point". The building is located near the center for the area with close proximity to the coast and the train station. By connecting the nursing home to a public building the public space is made available to those who have the most difficulty to reach it. Having elders not become isolated is very important and by activating the brain with different activities and new meetings the risk of dementia decrease. In the building there are three departments: one for people with dementia and two somatic departments. There's also a large dining room, living room, exercise room and multiple large courtyards located in and around the building. In the public area of the building there's an open preschool, a café and several common rooms. The building is organized in a way so that the nursing home has one side of the building and the preschool and the cafe have the other.  The two sides are connected by the common areas, this is to simplify different activities between the two sides. The preschool is the only one with a second story and the rest of the building is one story. It's design to be as accessible as possible and create a feeling of independence in the elderly as they can reach all premises without assistance. Personally, I have always gotten an anxious feeling at the thought of a home for the elderly and that is precisely my reason for designing one. This is not a place to skimp on and it is not a place for people to be hidden away in. This is a place which should be full of activities, joy and life! / Kvicksund ligger I nordvästra Eskilstuna och är ett område med väldigt unika förhållanden. Det är en plats som både delas av Mälaren men även mellan två kommuner: Västerås I norr och Eskilstuna I söder. Här finns både närhet till natur men även bra tillgänglighet I form av en egen tågstation.  Mitt förslag är att bygga ett äldreboende I Kvicksund med tillhörande ”mötescentrum”. Byggnaden är placerad centralt I området med närhet till kusten, det som idag är centrum och tågstationen. Genom att koppla äldreboendet till en offentlig byggnad tillgängliggör man det offentliga rummet för de som har det svårast att nå det. Att inte bli isolerad som äldre är väldigt viktigt och genom att aktivera hjärnan med olika aktiviteter och nya möten minskas risken för demenssjukdomar. I byggnaden placeras en demensavdelning och två somatiska avdelningar med stor matsal, vardagsrum, motionsrum och stora innergårdar. I den offentliga delen finns en öppen förskola, caféverksamhet samt ett flertal gemensamma rum. Byggnaden organiseras på det vis att äldreboendet har ena sida och förskolan och caféverksamheten har den andra. Mellan dem placeras de gemensamma ytorna för att förenkla olika gemensamma aktiviteter mellan verksamheterna. Endast förskolan har en övervåning och resten av byggnaden är I enplan. Allt för att göra den så tillgänglig som möjligt och skapa en känsla av självständighet hos de äldre då de kan nå alla lokaler utan assistans. Personligen har jag alltid fått en ängslig känsla vid tanken på äldreboenden och det är just därför jag valt att gestalta ett. Detta är inte en plats att snåla på och inte heller en plats som ska skuffas undan. Här ska det vara fullt av aktiviteter, glädje och liv!

This diploma theses titled Story building in serial format focusing on the Chernobyl miniseries analyses the serial Chernobyl coproduced by American HBO and British Sky aired in 2019. Chernobyl miniseries gained public recognition and still ranks as one of the highest-rated TV shows in history according to movie databases in the Czech Republic and abroad. It also received wide media coverage from different newspapers and movie servers. The miniseries has five episodes it describes primarily the human aspect of a horrifying disaster in the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in 1986. The main aim of this theses is content and dramaturgy analysis, description, and development of individual characters and themes. This diploma thesis also focuses on the story building of a serial in terms of theoretical concepts and aspects typical for making serials and series. Moreover, the thesis mentions particular Czech and international reviews of Chernobyl.

Dans le cadre de notre thèse en didactique des mathématiques, nous explorons la pertinence du récit en tant que mode de pensée et support potentiel à la construction de raisonnement. Nous soutenons l'hypothèse que lors d'une activité de résolution de problèmes de mathématiques, la construction d'un récit visant à répondre à une situation problématique peut être un élément déclencheur, producteur et structurant du raisonnement. En nous appuyant sur différents travaux qui ont souligné les fonctions heuristiques et structurantes du récit, nous avons caractérisé au plan théorique et mis à l'épreuve expérimentalement un milieu didactique permettant d'envisager une co-construction entre récit et raisonnement. La situation de résolution de problèmes que nous proposons, construite autour d'un jeu, amène les élèves à produire des récits descriptifs (basés sur des parties effectivement réalisées) et des récits d'anticipation (basés sur des parties imaginaires). Nos résultats mettent en évidence que le récit enrichit le milieu didactique au sens proposé par Hersant (2010), en particulier au travers de l'acte de construction par les élèves. Celui-ci soutient l'établissement du raisonnement et sa justification mathématique. C'est en produisant différents types de récits que les élèves, tout en prenant en charge les contraintes mathématiques de la situation, s'affranchissent du monde sensible et s'engagent dans une véritable activité de preuve mathématique (production d'exemples, de contre-exemples, de conjectures, d'argumentations, etc.) / Our thesis in mathematics education explores the relevance of story building as a pattern of thought and potential support for the construction of reasoning. We assume that establishing a narrative in order to answer a problematic situation is both a trigger and processing aid. Our main hypothesis is that the narrative act offers structured guidelines for the process of reasoning during problem solving activity. Several studies have indeed highlighted the heuristics and structuring functions of narrative. Relying on these studies we first characterized theoretically and then tested experimentally a didactical environment. We shaped the characteristics of this environment with the objective of ensuring a joint development between narrative and reasoning. The situation of problem solving we offer is built around a game. To address problematic situations, students produced descriptive (based on games actually made) and anticipated (based on imaginary games) narratives. In both case, the construction of a narrative is a powerful asset. Our results demonstrate that the story enriches, within the meaning of Hersant (2010), the educational environment. The act of narration supports the student’s mathematical reasoning and justification. While producing different types of stories, students embrace the mathematical constraints of the situations and step back from the sensible world. No more restrained by material thinking, the students are more inclined to mathematical approach. Therefore, they develop or enhance their mathematical proving skills (example and counter-example arguments, mathematical conjectures and demonstrations, etc.)

Mateřská školka, Uničov / Kindergarten, Uničov

This diploma thesis deals with the design of the kindergarten in Uničov. The object is designed as a two-storey, non-cellar basement. Because of the almost perfectly flat terrain and purpose of the building, the basement would be unnecessary. The gentle slope which the selected plot shows is oriented to the southeast side. The main entrance to the house is solved from the western side, along the direction of the main entrance to the nursery. It is adjacent to the existing communication with the parking lot towards the Nemocniční housing estate. There are two separate children's wards at the 1st floor, always equipped with a spacious playroom, dressing rooms and a washroom. Furthermore, in the 1st floor there is a large part of the economic zone consisting of a kitchen and related space, a junior flat and a cookery facility. The 2nd floor is reserved for the all-round development of children, both directly attending kindergarten and outside of the interest groups. Therefore, there are spaces such as a language classroom, a workshop room and a hall for other external staff. In addition, there is also a facility for staff and external staff in the form of a meeting room. The east side of the 2nd floor is then reserved for the third children's ward, the backrest consisting of a playroom, dressing rooms, washrooms along with a toilet and, moreover, a lounger. The vertical supporting structures are designed from porous concrete blocks, reinforced concrete and pillar blocks. The ceiling in each level is designed as a reinforced concrete reinforced concrete slab. The building is roofed with a flat single-roofed roof with a slope of 2 %.

Nová synagóga v Brně / New Synagogue in Brno

The diploma thesis "New Synagogue in Brno" is processed in the form of architectural studies and containing all requirements in accordance with applicable regulations. The proposed building´s are located between the streets Dornych, Spálená, Přízová and Mlýnská. Object’s are closing city block and completing the look of the street Dornych. The synagogoue was rotated to the west compare to the street line about 17°. Synagogue is a two-storey building without a basement and it´s used only for worships. Jewish Community building is a three story building with three underground floors. The building contains a museum of Jewish culture, kosher restaurants, mikveh ritual bath, library and administration. In the basement is a parking stackers and technical equipment of buildings. Supporting structure is concrete frame construction. Facades are designed like structural glazing system. Part of the processing work was the development of facade section, section thru the diffusing glass and architectural detail.

Parkovací dům / Parking building

The aim of the thesis is to design a steel structure of the parking building in the center of Brno. The plan dimensions of the building are 29 x 77.5 m including a missing corner of the dimensions 5 x 12.5 m in the southeast part of the construction. The construction of the parking building has 4 above-ground floors with the same layout and the fifth floor situated only in the middle section of the construction. Each floor is 3.5 m high. The total height of the construction in the place of the roofed part of the fifth floor is 17.5 m, otherwise 14 m. A spatial frame is the main load-bearing part consisting of 7 fields in the longitudinal direction and 5 fields in the transversal direction. The spatial frame is formed of columns and longitudinal and transversal girders. Steel-concrete composite joists are pin-supported among longitudinal girders. The construction of the parking building is solved in three versions considering different placing of columns to the base structure and different placing of longitudinal and transversal girders to the columns. The resulting draft is worked out in details. Roof cladding will be made using sandwich panels and walls will be made out of glass panels. The calculation has been done in Scia Engineer 2014 program and by manual calculation.

Sportcentrum Broumov / Sports center in Broumov

The topic of the masters thesis is newly built sports center in Broumov on the outskirts of the historic center. The proposal was placed high demands on appearance. There is a non-traditional stone facade with a combination of wood ventilated facades. The combination of wood and stone construction gives a historic feel and fit and existing buildings, which will carry the dominant built-up area. The new building is set into the sloping terrain with a flair for existing buildings. The building is part sunk into the ground to reduce the height to the surrounding area. The sports center is divided into three dilatations objects: Technical facilities, sports hall, bowling with squash and gym.
